Chapter 77 Lifesaving Grace

Mingsheng wanted to say a few more words, but his assistant stopped him.

"Mr. Ming, let's forget about it."

The situation was already unfavorable to him, so it's not unreasonable for them to ask for a public apology.

If Yan Qiao posted it herself, the company account would probably be overwhelmed by her fans and become depressed.

Mingsheng had no choice but to swallow his anger and agree to her conditions.

"Are there no other conditions?"

Yan Qiao shrugged. "No, Mr. Ming, please go ahead. We have other appointments later."

Ming Sheng's face was full of malice. "Yan Qiao, you've offended your former company so thoroughly. You'd better not mess with me in this industry in the future."

Yan Qiao tilted her head. "You're threatening me again, but don't worry, Mr. Ming, I'll try my best."

Once she retires from the entertainment industry, she won't care about anything else.

Mingsheng strode out and bumped into Yan Yaoyao, who had also been notified by the police to come for mediation, at the entrance of the police station.

Shenzhou was by Yan Yaoyao's side. Mingsheng originally wanted to say a few words, but because Shenzhou was present, he didn't dare to say anything and could only leave angrily in the end.

Yan Qiao looked at Yan Yaoyao, who had arrived late, and suddenly laughed.

"Mr. Ming publicly apologized and paid 50,000 yuan in compensation. What about you? What are you planning to do?"

Upon hearing the phrase "public apology," Yan Yaoyao turned pale.

Even if she dreams of marrying into a wealthy family, it doesn't mean she's shameless.

If this gets out, she won't be able to hold her head up in shame.

"Waaaaah, Brother Chenzhou, I was just confused for a moment. Please tell Yan Qiao to let me go. I'm willing to make amends."

Shen Zhou viewed her through the lens of their childhood friendship, and even though he knew in his heart that what she was doing was wrong, he still subconsciously protected her.

“Yan Qiao, just name your price. Yao Yao is a public figure, and this matter is not suitable for public discussion.”

Yan Qiao scoffed, "You seem to understand quite well that she's a public figure, but am I not? Isn't she using this method to deal with me precisely because she knows I'm a public figure?"

Chen Zhou said coldly, "But you haven't been hurt at all, have you? For my sake, you should show some mercy."

Yan Qiao twitched her lips; talking to him was utterly pointless.

"What face do you have in my eyes? You're really shameless."

Then they saw a couple walk in through the door, their expressions gloomy, heading straight for Yan Yaoyao.

Attorney Dai smiled and said, "I contacted Ms. Yan Yaoyao's parents. I thought it would be difficult to communicate with her directly, so I thought it would be better to communicate with her parents."

Yan Yaoyao's father is a university teacher with a good reputation at the school, so he should be more reasonable.

Yan Qiao nodded, indicating her understanding.

Song Yinsheng had already restrained himself enough, but he still couldn't control his anger.

He was especially furious when he heard what Chen Zhou said.

What good can you learn from hanging out with this kind of person?

He raised his hand and slapped Yan Yaoyao for the first time since she was born.

“You’re a girl too, how could you do this to another girl your age? The matter has escalated to the police station, the first thing you should do here is apologize! But since you came in, has a single word expressed your remorse? Yan Yaoyao, this is how your mother and I raised you!”

Shen Zhou instinctively tried to protect Yan Yaoyao, but Yan Shu pushed him away as soon as he reached out.

"Mr. Shen, this is our family matter. Please don't interfere! Only when you have the ability to marry her and make her a member of the Shen family will you have the right to speak to us!"

She was disappointed in her daughter Yan Yaoyao, but she genuinely loathed Chen Zhou, a two-timing and irresponsible man.

"You just said that Yan Qiao was not substantially harmed, so let me ask you this: if your sister were treated like this today, would you still generously advise her not to hold it against it? People can protect their own, but they can't lose their conscience!" Yan Shu's words were sharp and stern, which surprised Yan Qiao.

She imagined what Yan Yaoyao's parents would say, perhaps pleading for their daughter's life immediately.

I never imagined that Yan Shu would act this way.

Chen Zhou suddenly lowered his head guiltily, not daring to look at Yan Qiao again.

Song Yinsheng pulled Yan Yaoyao in front of Yan Qiao and scolded, "Apologize now!"

Yan Yaoyao covered her face, crying as she apologized to Yan Qiao.

Despite Song Yinsheng's constant lectures, Yan Qiao felt envious.

This is what parents who love their children should do: clean up after her, speak sternly to her, and protect and educate her.

Instead of being as indifferent to her as Chen Lan, who didn't want to even glance at her.

For the sake of Yan Shu and Song Yinsheng, Yan Qiao nodded in forgiveness.

She didn't plan to post the story online; she kept the recording as leverage over Yan Yaoyao.

"Uncle and Aunt, since she has apologized, let's leave it at that."

Yan Shu was taken aback. Looking at Yan Qiao's nonchalant appearance, she suddenly felt as if she had been stabbed in the heart. It didn't hurt, but it was very uncomfortable.

This is Yan Yaohui's daughter, and logically speaking, she shouldn't have any good feelings towards Yan Qiao.

Yan Qiao glanced at Attorney Dai, and the two got up and walked out.

When they passed the sunken ship, Yan Qiao stopped in her tracks.

"I've always found it strange why you hate me so much. The marriage between our two families was arranged by our elders, and you couldn't go against it, but why can't I? I'm just like you, a member trapped in the shackles of family. Even if you don't feel any sympathy for me, you shouldn't hate me so much, right?"

“Chen Zhou, over the years, have I ever done anything to wrong you? You wanted to pursue true love, and I agreed to annul the engagement. But you wanted to pursue so-called true love while also dragging me down with you, making me a sacrifice for dividing your family's assets. What's wrong with me not wanting to do that? Have you ever thought that your disgust for me stems from your own greed and incompetence? Please remember, I owe you nothing, and I owe Yan Yaoyao nothing either.”

Yan Qiao's words struck him hard in the chest.

Looking at her cold face, Chen Zhou suddenly felt a sense of bewilderment, as if something had slipped through his fingers and would never come back.

He couldn't even figure out what exactly he had lost.

Yan Qiao was about to leave when she couldn't help but ask, "May I ask, what life-saving grace did Yan Yaoyao give you that could blind your dog eyes?"

Chen Zhou automatically ignored the word "dog's eyes," saying, "When I was in high school, I accidentally fell into the water, and she bravely jumped in to save me."

Yan Qiao suddenly realized what Chen Wu had asked earlier; the key was right there.

She chuckled, turned, and walked out.

Yan Shu frowned. "Yao Yao can't..." swim.

"Mom!" Yan Yaoyao quickly grabbed her arm, her words earnest: "I was wrong, I know I was wrong, please forgive me this once!"

Yan Shu was taken aback, and a thought arose in her mind.

Not long after Yan Qiao left the police station, Song Yinsheng chased after her.

He insisted on making it up to Yan Qiao, saying that Yan Yaoyao owed her this.

Yan Qiao smiled and said, "Uncle, there's no need for compensation. Please ask her to stop targeting me in the future."

Song Yinsheng looked ashamed and said, "It's my fault for not teaching her well."

Touched, Yan Qiao blurted out, "You must love her very much."

Song Yinsheng was taken aback. "Although she has many shortcomings, we as parents also have a responsibility to be tolerant of her. I doubt there are any parents in this world who don't love their children."

Yan Qiao bit her lip. "Yes."

Looking into her eyes, Song Yinsheng felt a strange sense of familiarity.

Just like Yan Qiao, someone he hadn't seen for many years.

This sense of familiarity came out of nowhere.

He smiled and said, "Since you don't want to accept it, I won't force you. Uncle apologizes to you again on behalf of Yan Yaoyao."

Yan Qiao nodded and watched him leave.

She knows all too well that not all parents love their children.
