He Jing smiled sweetly: "I'm sorry, sir, I can't drink alcohol. I'm a minor."
The man was only around 25 years old. When he heard He Jing call him "Grandpa," his expression changed: "What did you call me?"
He Jing blinked, looking utterly innocent: "Call me 'Grandpa,' what's wrong?"
The man slammed his fist on the table and stood up, about to act aggressively, when He Zhou stood in front of He Jing with a cold expression and gloomy eyes. He looked like he was saying, "Want to fight? Go ahead."
The man paused, then muttered, "If you have eye problems, go get them treated. I'm only a few years older than you."
He Jing ignored him and smiled at He Zhou: "Thank you, Third Brother."
He Zhou originally wanted to make her experience the hardships of ordinary people, to make things difficult for her and laugh at her, but now he was inexplicably angry. He pressed her head down and said coldly, "If you deliberately cause trouble again, I'll leave you here. You better be smart and hide your face."
He Jing responded obediently and softly, "Oh~"
He Zhou's anger flared even more. He roughly grabbed her hand and pulled her forward. They passed through a group of burly men and arrived at a bustling food stall. There, He Jing saw He Yi, whose eyes were watering from the smoke, and He Chen, who was rapidly flipping the meat.
They didn't look like students at all; they looked more like working adults who had dropped out of school early.
He Jing's pupils contracted sharply, and she shouted, "Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother!"
When He Yi looked up, his face, blackened by the smoke, looked even more unpleasant.
He Chen also looked up, forgetting to turn the roasted meat in his hand, and the fat dripped into the charcoal stove, sizzling and emitting ash smoke.
He Zhou was already used to it, and simply asked, "Why are you still here?"
He Yi looked a little stiff: "My aunt is too busy with her business, so she asked us to stay a few more days."
He Jing sneered, thinking: This is not about letting them stay a few more days, it's clearly about treating them as free laborers and exploiting them relentlessly.
He Chen remained relatively calm: "Third brother, why did you bring He Jing here? This is not a place for her."
He Zhou regretted it long ago.
He frowned and said unhappily, "If she wants to come, who can stop her?"
He Chen said, "Let's take her back."
He Jing couldn't stand idly by, so she stepped forward and said, "Fifth Brother and Sixth Brother, come back with us."
He Chen was about to shake his head when a loud and sarcastic female voice suddenly rang out from not far away: "What are you two slacking off for? You slack off the moment you're not looking. Hurry up, or I'll tell your mothers if the customers leave!"
Immediately, He Yi and He Chen were like machines that had been switched on, and they quickly continued with their work.
The flames on the charcoal stove leaped as He Yi fanned them, and the meat was flipped nimbly in He Chen's hands. He Zhou said coldly, "You've finished watching, let's go."
He Jing asked, "Where are Fifth Brother and Sixth Brother?"
He Zhou said, "My second brother will come over tomorrow to replace them."
He Jingxin felt a chill: "But you're still students!"
Students should be sitting in bright classrooms, reading during class time and playing football during breaks, not in this kind of setting.
He Zhou laughed, a cold and sarcastic laugh: "Do you think many people can live the kind of life you used to? There are plenty of students here who have to support themselves in addition to studying. When people are poor to a certain extent, they exhaust all their energy just trying to find a way to eat. How can they care about anything else?"
He Jing stopped, speechless, all her strength instantly drained away.
Seeing her expression, He Zhou felt annoyed and quickly regained his expressionless demeanor: "Anyway, they don't need your concern. If you don't want to stay here, leave with me now."
