Chapter 267 Who's family with you?

The business finally ended around 4 or 5 o'clock. He Jing's feet were sore from walking, He Zhou had a dark face, and He Yi and He Chen had already fallen asleep on the empty table.

The Zhu family made a fortune. Qian Lizhen was laughing so hard she could hardly open her eyes as she counted the money. She quickly put down her money bag and went up to He Jing, saying, "Jingjing, don't take what your aunt said to heart. She was just too tired and confused, so she was talking nonsense."

He Jing said indifferently, "Auntie, please be more careful in the future. Your brothers respect you very much, and hearing too much of this will hurt your feelings."

Qian Lizhen kept agreeing, saying "Yes, yes, yes," and then lightly slapped herself twice.

He Jing saw this but remained unmoved, only saying, "It's getting late, I'm taking my brothers back now, they'll be going to school soon."

Qian Lizhen was reluctant to let go of such a cash cow, and hurriedly asked, "When will Jingjing come next time?"

He Jing replied, "Come whenever you have time, so the brothers can relax a bit."

Qian Lizhen was overjoyed to hear this and quickly stuffed the rest of the roasted meat into her hand, along with two hundred yuan, saying, "Here, take this. Come over next weekend, your aunt will be waiting for you."

He Jing hummed in agreement, took the money and handed it to He Zhou, then woke up He Yi and He Chen, and went back with them.

Walking on the road, He Zhou, He Yi, and He Chen had mixed feelings. He Zhou, in particular, stared at the two hundred yuan and couldn't help but laugh at himself. He and his brothers had worked for the Zhu family for so many years, but Qian Lizhen hadn't given them a single penny. He Jing, on the other hand, received payment on her first visit.

As expected, different people have different fates; she received extraordinary treatment wherever she went.

He Jing, however, was more concerned: "Third Brother, Fifth Brother, Sixth Brother, are you hungry?"

The snack stalls close, and the breakfast stalls open; as soon as the steamed bun shops on the roadside open their steamers, steaming hot vapors waft out.

He Chen said, "I'm a little hungry, but let's go back and eat."

He Yi remained silent, probably finding today's events extremely ironic. Qian Lizhen had never given the brothers a kind look, but because He Jing was there, she was unusually all smiles, as if she genuinely treated them like her nephews.

When Cheng Yi came with them before, she only received the insult of being called a "worthless good-for-nothing".

Oh……

He Jing ignored He Chen's advice and bought a bag of steamed buns. She first gave some to He Zhou, who took the buns with a cold face and then handed over the two hundred yuan: "This money is yours, you can keep it yourself."

He Jing didn't take it, and said with utmost sincerity, "This is something we got together. Second Brother is the eldest, so it should be handed over to Second Brother for safekeeping."

He Zhou glanced at her and said sarcastically, "You don't actually think we can just accept these two hundred yuan without feeling guilty, do you?"

"Why not?" He Jing retorted. "Aren't we family?"

He Zhou's heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly stopped, staring intently at her.

He Jing tilted her head and smiled: "Isn't that right?"

He Zhou pursed his lips, then snatched the money back with a sneer: "Who said we're family? Stop trying to flatter yourself."

He Jing smiled and didn't argue with him. When she returned to the He family home, it was already broad daylight.

When they got home, He Ning and He Sui had been sitting on the sofa all night without sleeping. When they heard the noise, they both turned around and looked at each other with worried expressions.

He Sui rushed forward in one stride, anxiously asking, "He Jing, how did you get yourself into this mess?"

She didn't come back all night, and he was almost frantic with worry. He called Qian Lizhen like crazy, making over twenty calls before she finally answered once, saying that He Jing was helping out and would be back in a little while. Only then did he manage to hold back his rage.

Fortunately, He Jing was not hurt at all, and he felt relieved.

He Jingwen said gently, "My aunt was busy with her business, so I stayed to help out."
