Chapter 362 is a classmate

Now, only He Yi and He Chen remained. They exchanged a glance and spoke almost simultaneously:

"Should you go or should I go?"

"Fifth Brother, should I go?"

They disliked each other, so of course they didn't want to be together.

He Yi coldly replied, "I'll go."

He Chen smiled good-naturedly: "Okay, Fifth Brother."

That's how it's decided.

The next day, He Yi carried seven gifts and the Cheng family's address that he had asked He Jing for, and took two buses to get there.

The weather was hot, and He Yi's face was flushed red from the sun. He was drenched in sweat when he finally arrived at the Cheng family's door. He looked up and saw a scene that he usually only saw on television.

The carved gate, entwined with green vines, is dark and glossy. The courtyard, paved with snowflake-patterned tiles, is planted with tall maple trees. A unicorn-shaped fountain churns up clear, transparent waves of flowers. Rising from the ground is a magnificent building that resembles a giant beast.

Such extravagance completely changed He Yi's perception of the Cheng family. He originally thought the Cheng family was very rich, at most living in a villa, but he did not expect that poverty had limited his imagination, and he had a wrong definition of the words "very rich".

No wonder He Jing refused to come back even after threatening suicide; if it were him, he wouldn't want to either.

He Yi began to worry that he had come all this way, and that his shoes were so dirty; he wondered if he might soil the Cheng family's floor.

After much hesitation, he glanced at the doorbell on the wall, put down the gift, wiped his hands with his clothes, and then pressed the button.

A doorbell rang: "Hello, this is the Cheng family home. Who is this?"

It's not a program.

He Yi thought to himself that this was probably a servant of the Cheng family. He said in a restrained but polite manner, "Hello, my name is He Yi. I'm here to see... Miss Cheng Yi."

The servant paused for a second before speaking again: "Okay, please wait a moment."

Then, there was no further movement from that side.

He Yi stood at the door waiting, picking up the gift again. After a while, Cheng Yi came out of the villa with a pale face and lifeless eyes. Seeing He Yi, she said somewhat awkwardly, "Fifth Brother, what brings you here?"

He Yi handed over the gift and said, "Xiao Yi, happy birthday."

Cheng Yi's gaze fell on the gift, but she didn't seem happy at all. She was stunned for a moment, and then forced a smile: "Thank you, Fifth Brother."

Seeing that her expression was off, He Yi asked with concern, "Xiao Yi, what's wrong? Did something happen?"

Cheng Yi shook her head, about to say something, when she heard a noise and looked behind her. Then she quickly turned around, looking flustered and saying urgently, "Fifth Brother, we have guests at home today, so I may not be able to entertain you."

He Yi paused, his Adam's apple bobbing, and said, "Okay."

Cheng Yi carried the gifts and hurried back.

He Yi saw Cheng Yi standing in front of a noblewoman through the iron gate, and the two were talking about something.

Then, he looked down at his shoes. The surface of the shoes was dirty and black, and there were traces of glue coming undone on the edges.

He smiled, a smile that was both helpless and heartbreaking, and then turned and left.

At this moment, Ye Shuping frowned and looked in the direction of the gate, asking, "Xiaoyi, who were you talking to just now?"

Cheng Yi quickly replied, "Yes, it's a classmate."

Ye Shuping asked suspiciously, "Really? Then why don't you invite them in for a seat?"

Cheng Yi said, "He was just passing by and was delivering my birthday present to me on behalf of my classmates."

Ye Shuping looked at the things in her hand and then reluctantly believed her. She nodded and said, "Now that you're a young lady, you can't disregard your status and associate with shady people anymore. You should pay more attention to your words and actions. Don't let things turn out like the poisoning incident, where you were envied and framed. Also, it wasn't good that you went to stay at the He family's house recently. If you really care about the He family's kindness, I can give them some money. Then you shouldn't contact them anymore."
