Chapter 43 Indifference

He Jing smiled, crossed her arms, and asked calmly, "What do you think I could do to her?"

He Sui clenched his fists angrily and gritted his teeth, saying, "You're not allowed to bully Xiaoyi at school!"

He Jing clicked her tongue, pulled out a chair next to her, sat down, and said, "She only cried a little, but the Cheng family called to blame me, and you all treat me as an enemy. We were both switched at birth, so why is there such a big difference?"

It was as if fate had cruelly choked them.

It's no wonder that Cheng Yi couldn't beat her in the exam and ran back to cry. Everyone comforted her and sided with her, which was incredibly satisfying.

It's time for this villainous female supporting character to sacrifice herself for the sake of pleasure again.

He Sui was already furious, and her nonchalant tone only fueled his anger. He threw down his clothes, rushed forward, and accused her, "You bullied Xiao Yi, and you still dare to make sarcastic remarks!"

He Jing looked him straight in the eye, her eyes bright: "Why wouldn't I dare to say it? Isn't this the truth?"

He Sui slammed his fist on the table, his face contorted with rage, almost wanting to strangle her: "You're so vicious, I'll never consider you my sister again!"

In an instant, all of He Jing's expressions vanished, her beautiful eyes becoming numb and indifferent, as if she had never had a single feeling for him.

Suddenly, He Sui felt a little panicked.

After a moment of silence, He Jing smiled again, sweetly, but without any of the warmth from before: "Okay, then I won't treat you like a brother anymore."

He Sui felt a lump in his throat and suddenly regretted what he had said. But then he thought, He Jing was the one who did something wrong. Why was she so self-righteous? He was right to do what he did!

He Jing had already stood up, walked around him, returned to her room, and closed the door.

He Sui's anger was inexplicably extinguished by most of it. He pointed to the door and said, "Second brother, look at her attitude. She was the one who bullied Xiao Yi first."

He Ning's expression grew colder as she walked away without a word.

The atmosphere at school the next day was noticeably colder. In the morning, when everyone was in the living room, He Jing only said "Good morning" to He Xiaoguo. She didn't say a word during breakfast either.

He Sui had a sour face, as if someone owed him eight million. He Ning was still wearing headphones, his eyes closed, radiating a chilling aura that kept strangers at bay.

When the bus arrived at the stop and the three of them got off, He Sui shouted, "Hey, I'm warning you one more time, you're not allowed to bully Xiaoyi at school."

He Jing ignored her and stepped into the school. As soon as she entered the classroom, she saw Cheng Yi chatting and laughing with her newly assigned deskmate, surrounded by several girls.

As if sensing something, she looked away and glanced at her, her eyes smiling meaningfully.

He Jing glanced at it only once before coldly withdrawing her gaze and returning to her seat in the first row. A moment later, a graceful figure appeared in front of her.

Cheng Yi stood in front of the desk, looking down at her with a hint of concern, and said, "He Jing, are you alright? I'm really sorry about yesterday. My parents were too concerned and wronged you without knowing the facts. I've already explained it to them properly."

He Jing didn't even lift her eyelids, her tone indifferent: "Are you done talking? If you're done, I need to review."

Cheng Yi's face stiffened for a moment, but she couldn't hide the joy in her eyes. She pretended to be worried and asked, "Your brothers didn't make things difficult for you, did they? Especially Fourth Brother. He has a bad temper and always says harsh things, but he doesn't mean any harm. Please don't take it to heart."

He Jing finally looked up at her properly and said, word by word, "Please correct your wording. That's my brother, not yours. If there's a conflict, we'll resolve it behind closed doors. It has little to do with you."
