Chapter 519 Shoujo Manga

In the clean and bright room, everything was tidy, except for one place that stood out from the rest: He Yi's desk, which was cluttered with sheets of draft paper.

He Yi sat at his desk, holding a pencil, meticulously and patiently drawing something.

He Jing thought he had a new inspiration.

However, he didn't notice her until she got close and stood next to him, and He Jing realized that he had been daydreaming.

The blank paper was covered with messy, illegible strokes, yet a few simple lines created a perfect scene.

On a gloomy, rainy day, a blue-gray cat huddled under a small leaf, its tail curled up, its wet reflection shimmering in a nearby puddle.

The entire scene seemed shrouded in gloom, and the cold, lead-gray hue created a distinctly oppressive atmosphere.

Anyone who sees this will understand the artist's feelings.

He Jing then spoke softly, "Fifth Brother, are you unhappy?"

The hand holding the pen on the desk suddenly froze. He Yi looked up at He Jing, then quickly crumpled the draft into a ball and threw it into the wastepaper basket.

He looked away, avoiding the expression on He Jing's face, and said in what he perceived as a cold tone, "No."

He Jing bent down and pulled the draft drawing out of the wastepaper basket. She then pulled up a chair and sat down next to him, carefully smoothing out the draft drawing bit by bit before showing it to him. She smiled with her eyes crinkling, "Fifth Brother rarely draws pictures with this shoujo manga style. Why don't you continue drawing?"

He Yi was taken aback upon hearing this, his sullen expression gradually turning into astonishment: "Shoujo manga style?"

“Yes, it is.” He Jing smiled as she pulled colored pencils from his pencil holder, adding a few thin lines of orange-pink to the gray rain, and then using green to color the leaves where the cat was sheltering from the rain. She used a white pencil to outline the shape of a bell on the cat’s neck, and then held up the crumpled drawing paper and said, “Look, doesn’t it look like the illustrations in a 10-yuan comic book on the street?”

He Yi stared at the painting, his gaze gradually becoming complicated. After He Jing scribbled a couple of lines, it actually had a certain charm.

He pursed his lips and slowly asked, "Why did you come here?"

He Jing blinked and replied, "Because I saw Fifth Brother alone in his room, and he looked very lonely."

He Yi became increasingly silent, seemingly unsure how to respond to this sudden warmth. He could only offer an unnecessary and superfluous explanation: "There were too many people in the living room, and it was rather stuffy, so I went back to my room."

He Jing suddenly realized and said, "Oh, I see. Then I'll stay here with Fifth Brother for a while."

He Yi then fell silent. He was less adept at shooing people away than at showing goodwill to others. If He Jing wanted to stay, that was fine too.

He rarely received such focused attention, and He Jing's gaze made him feel uncomfortable all over, even his fingers, which were about to draw another picture, became less nimble.

He drew crooked lines on the paper, his mind blank, with no idea what he was trying to draw.

He Yi stopped drawing, took a few deep breaths, and then continued drawing.

After much struggle, he finally drew a small house.

The little house had a crooked chimney, a crooked roof, and even the little dog lying in front of the door was crooked.

This work is worse than that of an elementary school student; I can't give it more than 5 points.

He Jing watched helplessly as He Yi's skills inexplicably went astray, and couldn't help but cast a questioning look at him.
