Chapter 520 Such a look

He Yi pursed his lips again and said in a hoarse voice, "Could you please stop staring at me?"

He really couldn't adapt.

He Jing immediately understood, but did not do it right away. Instead, she tilted her head and asked with some confusion, "Why? If I turn around like this and face away from Fifth Brother, it feels really strange."

There were only two people in the room, one of whom was painting, while the other seemed to be avoiding something. Isn't that strange?

He Yi looked at her smile, his Adam's apple bobbing twice. After a long while, he said in a cryptic tone, "Because no one has ever looked at me like that before."

That innocent yet adoring gaze contained the girl's burning passion, as if melting him into a honey pot of chocolate.

From as far back as I can remember, everyone looked at him with surprise or curiosity. People often said:

Wow, these two people look so alike!

"Yes, yes, I can't tell the difference at all."

Even the teacher would pronounce the name "He Yi," then hesitate between him and He Chen before finally settling on He Chen and saying, "He Yi, you answer."

He Chen remained calm and smiled slightly: "Teacher, I am He Chen."

He heard the whole class laughing, as if he were a clown.

Over time, people would easily distinguish him from He Chen. The one who could tell them apart was the old man selling fruit at the school gate, who would always ask him, "He Yi, why don't you go home with your brother after school?"

The more questions he was asked, the more uneasy he became. In order to reduce the old man's suspicions, he had to wait for He Chen to walk with him after school.

Finally, the old man stopped asking questions and said with a smile, "Brothers need to have a good relationship. Here, have an apple."

The apple remained in He Chen's hands, and He Chen thanked him with a beaming smile.

No one had ever looked at him with such warm eyes before, simply because he was He Yi.

Never.

He suppressed the urge to run away, a urge born from the other person's overwhelming warmth, and slowly pleaded, "Could you please stop looking at me like that?"

He Jing's smile froze, and she refused directly: "No way!"

He Yi gradually tightened his grip on the pen, the protruding knuckles on his hand hard and pale, much like his mood at that moment.

Then, he asked, word by word, "Why?"

Without hesitation, He Jing replied, "Because I especially enjoy the process of Fifth Brother painting. It's very quiet and pleasing to the eye. If Fifth Brother gets too nervous being watched by me, why don't you paint me instead?"

As the subject of a painting, looking at her should make you less nervous, right?

He Yi stared at her in disbelief, stunned.

He Jing smiled: "Is that not allowed?"

He Yi lowered his eyes. The tip of his pencil had broken off a small piece from pressing too hard on the paper. He said in a low voice, "Hmm, is it almost time for dinner?"

At this point, He Jing jumped up from her chair and slapped her forehead: "Oh no, the pot is still being watched by Third Brother. He said he's only responsible for watching, not for carrying it. The pot is going to burn."

He Yi's facial muscles twitched almost imperceptibly, and his eyes smiled faintly. He put the pencil back in the pencil holder and stood up as well: "You go ahead, I'll go to the living room and have some fruit."

He Jing nodded happily and said "okay". She stepped out of the room, then stopped and turned back, asking, "Would Fifth Brother like to paint for me sometime?"

He Yi made a very soft nasal sound: "Mmm."
