He Jing asked in surprise, "Huh? Aren't you going to take it for a walk?"
Yan Hanxi: "I'm not going for a walk anymore."
He didn't want to disturb his precious little darling's sleep.
If it weren't for this, he wouldn't have stood there like an idiot under the streetlights in the He family's residential area, ready to stand there all night.
Not wanting to disturb Yan Hanxi's sleep, He Jing nodded and said, "Okay."
So Yan Hanxi sent He Jing back.
...
The next day, Yan Hanxi was invited to the He family's house for breakfast.
He rang the doorbell, and as soon as He Sui opened the door, he exploded: "Damn it, it's Yan the dog!"
He quickly closed the door again, trying to block Yan Hanxi from the outside.
Mother He asked, "Who's here?"
He Sui nervously lied: "No."
He's mother immediately came over and shooed He Sui aside. She opened the door and saw a handsome and tall boy standing there. Based on his demeanor, she instantly realized that the person was He Jing's classmate.
She called out, "Jingjing, your classmate is here."
He Jing came out of the room. She had just put on her socks and slippers when she walked to her mother's side and said, "Mom, his name is Yan Hanxi. He's my classmate. He's coming to our house for breakfast this morning."
Mother He nodded repeatedly: "No problem, no problem."
Under the scrutiny of Mrs. He, Yan Hanxi calmly stepped into the He family's doorstep and smiled slightly at Mrs. He: "Hello, Auntie. My mom usually calls me Xiao Xi, so you can call me that too, Auntie."
The sparkling light in her phoenix eyes, the perfect curve of her lips, and her polite tone completely outshone the rest of the He family's bumpkins, Mother He thought.
She was flattered and said, "Hello, Xiao Xi, I'm Jingjing's mom. What do you like to eat? Auntie will make it for you."
Yan Hanxi said sweetly, "I love everything Auntie makes."
This coaxing made Mother He extremely happy, and she wished she could add ten more dishes for him.
She thought to herself that if her sons weren't all so stiff and cold, and the only one who talked a lot, He Sui, was unreliable, she wouldn't have valued Cheng Yi so much.
When Cheng Yi was alive, she would occasionally act coquettishly towards her, while her own son was practically a stone block.
However, Cheng Yi wasn't as sweet as Yan Hanxi; her smile was so sweet it almost melted one's heart.
As she walked toward the kitchen, she said, "Jingjing, come and get Xiaoxi a pair of chopsticks."
He Jing replied, "Okay, Mom."
When He Jing entered the kitchen, Yan Hanxi greeted his brothers-in-law, only to be immediately subjected to their scrutinizing gazes, as if they were looking at a criminal.
Early in the morning, the atmosphere wasn't actually that good. He Zhou had just struggled out of his sleepiness when he saw an eyesore in front of him. His handsome face was as expressionless as a playing card. He Ning greeted Yan Hanxi, but Yan Hanxi was only polite and aloof.
He Chen was smiling, but his smile seemed somewhat insincere compared to his usual demeanor; He Yi sat silently to one side, his eyes occasionally glancing at Yan Hanxi before he frowned.
The only ones who seemed welcoming were He Yuan and He Xiaoguo. To ease the awkwardness, He Yuan sat on the sofa next to Yan Hanxi, intending to chat with her. He Xiaoguo then climbed onto Yan Hanxi's lap and called out:
"Brother Xiao Xi".
Despite the increasingly hostile stares from his brothers-in-law, as if he had abducted a child, Yan Hanxi casually lifted He Xiaoguo up and said, "You've grown taller and heavier."
He Sui's eyes widened immediately, his expression fierce: "He Xiaoguo, you are not allowed to be a traitor."
This guy is trying to seduce He Jing, how can we give him a friendly look?
Mother He poked her head out from the kitchen, equally aggressive: "Fourth son, don't be rude."
