Chapter 7: Problem Solving Competition

He looked at He Jing again and again, but she still had a calm and indifferent expression, as if nothing mattered. He Yuan had no choice but to say, "In that case, I will be the referee."

"OK".

"no problem."

He Sui and He Jing both agreed.

He Sui snatched the A-version of the test paper, chuckled lazily, and said, "The A-version is harder, don't say I'm taking advantage of you."

He Jing nodded: "Thank you, Fourth Brother. I will try my best."

He Yuan suddenly remembered: "Jingjing, aren't you only a sophomore in high school?"

He Jing said "yes". He Yuan frowned and said, "He Sui is already a senior in high school this year. If there are any questions on the test that you don't know how to do, just leave them blank. They are not in the scope of the second year textbook and will all be counted as points."

He Jing wanted to say "no need," but He Sui arrogantly said, "It's fine."

He glanced at He Jing, a smirk playing on his lips: "As long as she doesn't cry when she loses, it'll be fine."

Then, the competition officially began.

The time limit was one hour, because it was lunchtime in an hour, and He Xiaoguo couldn't be allowed to go hungry. He Sui had no objection, nor did He Jing.

He Sui sat on the sofa, writing at the low, chipped coffee table, while He Jing went to the dining table, looking as if she didn't want to be disturbed.

So, no one went up to disturb her; they all surrounded He Sui, watching him write the exam paper with great speed and skill.

An hour later...

No, it hasn't even been an hour.

He Sui finished the test paper, the neat page densely covered with writing. He looked up at He Jing, the beautiful girl tilting her head, her fair skin like a bright spot embedded in a cool gray tone, her slightly turned profile exquisite and beautiful like an oil painting, her slender and thin hands still writing slowly, it was obvious that she hadn't finished.

He Sui chuckled and reminded him, "It's already 58 points."

As soon as she finished speaking, He Jing put down her pen.

The whole family stared at He Jing, their hearts pounding with nervousness. She, however, acted like an exemplary student, standing up and handing the test paper to her eldest son, He Yuan, with both hands. He Yuan was utterly amazed after just one glance at the paper.

The handwriting is so beautiful.

He Sui shoved the test paper into He Yuan's hand, waiting for his victory.

Then, the living room fell silent, and no one dared to make a sound to disturb He Yuan's train of thought.

Mother He was supposed to go cook, but for some reason she couldn't move her legs and was eagerly waiting for the outcome, like she was buying a lottery ticket.

Father He looked serious, his trouser leg being tugged by He Xiaoguo. Both were worried, though they didn't know which side they should hope would win...

Suddenly, He Yuan's expression turned strange, as if he had seen something odd.

He Sui was an impatient person, and upon seeing this, he immediately asked, "How is it, brother? Did Cheng Jing fail?"

He Yuan slowly shook his head, handed the test paper to him, and said, "You lost."

He Sui's eyes widened on the spot, and he exclaimed in excitement, "How is this possible?!"

He Yuan said, "See for yourself."

He Sui quickly lowered his head and then noticed that the last two big questions were written in several different ways, with the handwriting being casual and leisurely, as if he had just finished the exam and was bored, so he added them.

"This question was from last year's college entrance examination. Last year's test takers called it a devilish question. She not only wrote the correct answer, but also used three different solutions. Xiao Sui, I am inferior to her and admit defeat."

He Sui's hands and feet were ice cold. He stiffly raised his eyes to look at He Jing, who was still smiling, completely unfazed by praise or criticism.
