Chapter 890 Financial Pressure
Overwhelmed with work, He Jing finally completed another research project under the urging and supervision of her boss.
Before the variety show even started filming, He Jing devoted all her time to the experiments, neglecting even her 20-minute daily date with Yan Hanxi, practically forgetting to eat and sleep.
After successfully securing the Ziyun Home project, she handed it over to her assistant and didn't get involved herself. If "Offer Forward" hadn't actually brought profits to the studio and kept it running, He Jing might not have chosen to appear on screen just to spite Cheng Yi...
Overall, however, the advantages of appearing on this variety show outweigh the disadvantages, and the recording time was short, so she made the right choice.
However, the studio's leader had a keen eye: "Can 'Offer Forward' bring us talent?"
“This…” He Jing felt a little guilty, “The guests on ‘Offer Forward’ are all newcomers to the workplace, which are completely unrelated to our work. I’m afraid we won’t be able to recruit them.”
The bigwigs ruthlessly questioned, "Then why go? We still have several experiments to finish."
"Of course, it's to make money!"
He Jing was on the verge of tears. She wanted to ask these aloof big shots who were only focused on their experiments and waiting for their salaries to support their families: if she didn't try to make money, where would she get the money?
Are we just going to wait for the government to provide subsidies?
Are we really going to let her go and leech off her brother?
The studio uses the best machines and the best materials; even a random broken elemental stone on the table could buy a building.
It's really expensive, guys!
He Jing had a bitter pill to swallow.
Doing scientific research is so poor!
Perhaps because He Jing's gaze was so filled with grief and indignation, carrying the weight of the financial burden alone, the bigwigs finally realized how rude their questioning had been. They coughed awkwardly and lowered their heads, saying, "Boss, you can go now. We'll wait for you to come back."
He Jing was immediately gratified. It seemed that her employees were quite understanding of her. She assured them, "The pay is quite good. We'll buy another piece of equipment after we get paid."
The bigwigs looked as if they had just taken a new concubine, their faces beaming with joy.
In fact, they had long been fed up with several people sharing one machine. The progress was so slow that it was frustrating. Sometimes, when they got annoyed, they wanted to kick their colleagues.
New research findings require writing papers and summarizing, which is a tedious and lengthy process. He Jing unhesitatingly chose to hand this task over to her most capable subordinate and shamelessly used her power as the boss to leave work on time.
As soon as I stepped outside, I ran into Ye Shuping.
I don’t know how Ye Shuping found me. I was looking at a row of closed equipment rooms in the corridor, hesitating whether to push open one of them and go in. Then I saw He Jing wearing a white coat walking out of the room next to me.
Instantly, Ye Shuping perked up and shouted, "He Jing!"
He Jing frowned deeply: "How come it's you?!"
Ye Shuping walked up to her in her high heels and said, "What, do you think I can't stand to see you? I want to talk to you."
He Jing chuckled and said, "Aunt Ye, we probably don't have anything to talk about. This place is off-limits to strangers, so you should go back."
Ye Shuping glared coldly at He Jing and said, "I raised you for eighteen years, and now that you've made it big, I don't even have the right to talk to you anymore?"
He Jing heard a noise behind her; it was the big shots in the lab casting concerned glances at her.
"Just talking is fine too."
He Jing didn't want her personal matters to affect the mood of the big shots, so she quickly went out and told Ye Shuping to follow.
