Chapter 99 is not what you think.

The next day, He Jing woke up to a rich aroma.

He Zhou went into the kitchen early in the morning and made a sumptuous breakfast. He used the leftover steak and onions from yesterday to make beef porridge and also made a few scallion pancakes.

The scallion pancakes are golden and delicious, with bright green scallions. Each one is uniform in size, making them very appetizing.

As soon as He Jing sat down at the table, she felt hungry.

He Sui was also hungry. As usual, he reached out to grab a piece of bread to eat; however, before he could even touch the bread, He Zhou tapped his hand with the tip of his chopsticks.

He Sui looked up, bewildered, only to see He Zhou place the entire plate of scallion pancakes in front of He Jing and say coldly, "Give me some pointers."

He Sui was speechless. He Jing raised an eyebrow, tore off a small piece with her hand, licked her fingers after eating, and said, "Third Brother did a great job."

He Zhou said coolly, "Tell the truth."

He Jing then commented: "There's too much oil, and the pancake is too burnt. It would be best to replace the blended oil with sesame oil and shorten the frying time. The pancake will be more fragrant and delicious."

He Zhou immediately went back into the kitchen.

He Sui exclaimed, "Damn it! Has Third Brother gone mad?"

He Jing was also surprised. She frowned and stared at He Zhou's back as he disappeared into the kitchen, looking worried: "Won't Third Brother be late if he keeps cooking like this?"

He Ning slowly turned on the old TV, not even lifting an eyelid, and said, "You'll get used to it. The third brother is always like this."

It's just unknown how long she can hold out against He Zhou's advances.

After a while, He Zhou made a new scallion pancake and brought it to He Jing. He Jing took a bite and found it was indeed much better than last time. She nodded and said, "Yes, it tastes much better this way."

He Zhou then sat down with a gloomy face and ate breakfast with them.

At 7:00 AM, City A was broadcasting a morning news report.

The well-dressed female host said, "Recently, the problem of fabricated viewership ratings in television programs has become extremely serious, drawing the attention of the State Administration of Radio and Television. Leaders of the State Administration of Radio and Television have issued important directives to strengthen supervision, clarify rules, and crack down on fraud. Several works, including 'Ten Lives, Ten Worlds of Peach Blossom Debt' and 'Angel's Smile,' have been found to have engaged in serious viewership manipulation. Furthermore, variety shows such as 'Where is the King of Singers' and 'The King of Chefs' have been found to have behind-the-scenes manipulation..."

He Jing was eating beef porridge when she heard the key words. She looked up in surprise and saw Chef Luo, a contestant on the "Chef King Competition," being interviewed by a reporter. Chef Luo said angrily, "This show is completely deceiving the public. During the recording, my score was clearly higher than Chef Wang's, but after the broadcast, the scores were switched..."

He Jing: "..."

She said.

Then, He Sui exclaimed in surprise, "Hey, Third Brother, isn't 'The Chef King Competition' a variety show you watch? You seem to be a fan of the champion, Chef Wang, right?"

The moment the words were spoken, the atmosphere at the dinner table instantly plummeted to freezing point.

He Sui shrank back, unsure of what he had said wrong.

He Ning glanced at He Zhou, vaguely understanding something, and after a long while, she heard He Zhou grit his teeth and say, "I'm no longer a fan of Chef Wang."

He Jing never expected that fate would slap her in the face she hadn't intended to slap. She found it both funny and embarrassing. She quickly finished her porridge, packed her things, and went to school.

He Sui didn't dare linger and quickly followed her out the door.

The living room was left with He Ning, He Zhou, and He Xiaoguo. After finishing her meal, He Xiaoguo took the dishes to the kitchen to wash herself. He Zhou stared at He Ning and slowly stood up: "Do you remember what we promised Xiaoyi before she left?"

He Ning said calmly, "I haven't forgotten."

"Then you should—"

They watched helplessly as He Jing bullied Cheng Yi.

Cheng Yi was bullied so badly that she came to him crying to complain.

He Ning looked him straight in the eye: "Although I also dislike He Jing, she's not what you think."
