Tao Boli has not arrived yet.
After the two sat down, Shi Xi made perfunctory remarks to Xie Yunzhou while sending messages.
"Who are you chatting with?" Xie Yunzhou poured her some sweet tea.
“My mom, she eats here too,” Shi Xi explained.
Xie Yunzhou's expression was subtle. "Ms. Hua is eating here too?"
Shi Xi nodded, "Yes, she's in the lobby. I was planning to have dinner with her, but she's on a date."
The man had been trying to order for over ten minutes without doing anything, so I said I wasn't hungry and left—and then I met you.
Finally, we can eat.
"A date?" Xie Yunzhou's expression became even more peculiar.
"I think that man is trying to pursue her, but she said they're just business partners," Shi Xi texted. "I told her I was having dinner with you. Um... she said she'd like to come over, is that okay?"
Xie Yunzhou was slightly taken aback. "Of course, you can."
A short while later, Hua Wenying arrived.
"Sorry to bother you." After putting down her bag, Hua Wenying complained gently, "He wants to change restaurants, but I'm too tired to change."
“I told you he had no intention of ordering anything.” Shi Xi handed the menu to Hua Wenying and said, “I’ve ordered these, see what you’d like to eat?”
"Okay, it's my treat today, don't try to take it from me." Hua Wenying ordered the food.
The door to the private room opened from the back.
Hua Wenying thought it was a waiter coming in, so she handed over the menu, saying, "Hello, I'd like these."
Tao Boli took the menu in a daze.
"Ah, let me introduce you. This is Uncle Tao. He has helped us a lot." Shi Xi introduced, "Uncle Tao, this is my mother."
Hua Wenying turned her head and met Tao Boli's gaze.
Xie Yunzhou lowered his head and drank water.
Tao Boli snapped out of his daze. "I'll go call the waiter."
"No need, I'll do it." Hua Wenying stood up. "I just came to check on things. You guys eat, I'll leave now."
"It's alright, Uncle Tao is a very nice person, let's have a meal together." Shi Xi warmly pressed the two of them down, "I'll go call the waiter."
The others were restless.
Shi Xi returned from outside and noticed the awkward atmosphere. She gave an embarrassed smile and asked, "What are you guys discussing?"
Xie Yunzhou: "No one has spoken since you left."
Shi Xi: ...Actually, you don't have to be so honest.
The tense atmosphere continued to permeate the entire private room.
Shi Xi broke the awkward silence and asked Hua Wenying, "How was your date? Do you have any plans to pursue it further?"
Xie Yunzhou: ...
"A date?" Tao Boli looked at Hua Wenying: "With whom? You already have a child, and you still go on dates?"
"Who I date is none of your business," Hua Wenying retorted coldly.
Shi Xi sensed that the atmosphere was off and explained, "Well, my mom is single now."
"I'm single too, and I would never casually go on a date," Tao Boli said, suppressing his anger.
“I guess you’re too old and can’t keep up anymore,” Hua Wenying said with a confident smile. “I don’t want to go on dates either, but there are just too many young men around me.”
Shi Xi hesitated, then looked at Xie Yunzhou and asked in a low voice, "What's going on? Do they know each other?"
"I don't know him."
"know."
Xie Yunzhou didn't answer, but the two who heard him did.
Shi Xi: ?
Tao Boli: "We are old classmates."
"Old classmate? I'm not worthy of your name." Hua Wenying looked away, not wanting to meet Tao Boli's gaze.
Fortunately, the waiter came to serve the food, which eased the tension a bit.
