Xie Jing understood: "So you and... Luo Yan, you two are just making a deal. She helps you fend off these bad romantic interests, and you cover her school expenses."
"Yes," Zhou Jiyun nodded, "but I've recently discovered that she's become too carefree. She seems to really think that I haven't gotten married for so many years just to wait for her. She and Zhou Jiwen have been secretly in contact."
Xie Jing: "So that's why you clarified the rumors in public at the wedding?"
"My first purpose is to warn Luo Yan not to be so sentimental and to see clearly who she is. My relationship with her is purely a financial transaction," Zhou Jiyun stroked Xie Jing's hair. "Another purpose is to prevent you from being wronged."
"You are my wife. If your husband has someone else in his heart, it is extremely shameful for him. I cannot let your face be tarnished."
Xie Jing understood. She was silent for a moment before she said, "So you did this today purely to preserve both of our dignity?"
Zhou Jiyun sat back down opposite Xie Jing. "It's not just for the sake of appearances. I'm telling you I'm serious. This is true. Even if we're not familiar with each other yet, or even if there's no love between us, I will work hard to manage our marriage."

Xie Jing leaned over and moved the gift money on the bed aside. "Didn't I tell you? As long as you remain honest, I will remain steadfast. I am a man of my word. As long as your mind remains focused, I will not be the first to let go."
Zhou Jiyun smiled, his smile growing wider as he watched Xie Jing struggling to sort out the gifts. He simply threw back the sheets, grabbed the corner of the quilt, and shook it. The gifts and red envelopes were then bundled into a giant package.
"Where should we put it?" Zhou Jiyun asked Xie Jing for her opinion while carrying the huge package delicately.
"Put it on the table over there and deal with it tomorrow." Xie Jing yawned. "There's a couch over there. You can sleep on the bed and I'll sleep on the couch."
Zhou Jiyun frowned: "You want to sleep in a separate bed from me? You want to sleep in a separate bed from me on your wedding night? Is that appropriate?"
Xie Jing was stumped by his three consecutive questions: "But we are in an arranged marriage..."
"I also said that I am serious. Even if it is an arranged marriage, I will live a good life with you." Zhou Jiyun refused to give in. If he gave in at this time, when would he be able to sleep in the same bed with Xie Jing?
