Chapter 23 White Moonlight and Crimson Mole

Xie Jing tucked her hair behind her ears and said, "My ex-boyfriend, He Shiyu, was my college classmate. We met by chance, and then He Shiyu started pursuing me. I won't go into detail about the process, but we ended up together."

"During these four years of college, our relationship has been pretty stable, right?" Tan You pondered for a moment, then described it this way: "It's been a very uneventful development, and that's how it's been for four years."

"He was admitted to a graduate school in another province this year. I didn't understand why he insisted on studying abroad when our relationship was stable, and even rejected the guaranteed admission to our own university. That was until I discovered his fake account."

Xie Jing said with a mocking smile: "When a girl becomes suspicious, she will be a top private detective, able to find clues from all kinds of subtle details."

"Others say you have a white moonlight in your heart, but it turns out to be a false rumor. But He Shiyu, he is the one who truly has a little cinnabar in his heart."

"I saw all sorts of photos of him and Jin Xiao on his private account. The reason he went to another city for graduate school was because she was the senior he had a crush on in high school."

"I even realized that he had been maintaining a strict distance for several years, not because he liked me that much, nor because he was cautious about relationships, but because there was a certain resemblance between my eyebrows and my secret crush, and he was missing his mole through me."

"Now I understand why his classmates looked at me like that when I went to his class reunion."

"In order to get an answer, I gave up completely. I flew to the school where he was studying for his master's degree and saw them holding hands and being affectionate with each other."

Zhou Jiyun: "Is this why you accepted your family's arranged marriage?"

"Half and half," Xie Jing also leaned on the bed. "I broke up with He Shiyu at the time. After I came back, I learned that the Xie family's company was in trouble. At that time, Xie Wuyou didn't want to marry, so my mother came to beg me, begging me to agree to this marriage."

"If I don't agree to the marriage, the company will go bankrupt and my family will be doomed." Xie Jing laughed self-deprecatingly: "She's begging me so much, so let's just do the marriage if I want."

"I desperately wanted to leave all these people and things in front of me and go to a completely unfamiliar place. The thought that I had been used as a substitute to miss someone made me so sick that I couldn't eat for several days."

Zhou Jiyun frowned: "This is too disrespectful. How can you do such a wicked thing?"

When it comes to flirting with Xie Jing's ex, Zhou Jiyun is ruthless, has no psychological burden at all, and lacks the self-awareness of a green tea man.

Xie Jing said calmly, "He used me as a substitute. Besides feeling humiliated and angry, I didn't feel any heartbreaking pain. Perhaps I'm just an indifferent person to begin with, and I didn't invest much in this relationship."

"Looking back now, I think we were more like playing house. Even though we went to the same school, there were times when we didn't see each other for more than a week."

Zhou Jiyun patted the back of Xie Jing's hand: "Do you still think of him now?"

"Of course not. I wish I'd never see him again. He made me such a laughing stock. How could I possibly still have feelings for him?"

Xie Jing shook her head. "And I've also said that I won't let the past affect my marriage. He was an extremely humiliating experience for me, and no one would always miss someone who brought shame upon them."

"That's the best," Zhou Jiyun smiled with satisfaction. "It's getting late. We really should go to bed. We have to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow. You don't want to have dark circles under your eyes tomorrow, do you?"

Xie Jing immediately got into bed: "Yes, I really want to sleep. I got up very early this morning."

After Zhou Jiyun turned off the lights, he saw that the pillow he had kicked aside was now neatly placed in the middle of the quilt, and a voice came from the side: "Don't cross the line!"

Zhou Jiyun gritted his teeth and forced an angry laugh. Was his wife guarding him like a wolf? He lay down gently beside Xie Jing. After hearing her breathing getting longer and longer, Zhou Jiyun quietly threw the pillow pressing on the quilt to the floor.

Then he slowly moved closer to Xie Jing, until he completely embraced her in his arms. Zhou Jiyun finally breathed a sigh of relief. And what about Xie Jing? Perhaps because of the warmth around her, she subconsciously leaned into Zhou Jiyun's arms, making the two of them even more intimate.

Zhou Jiyun stroked Xie Jing's long hair, thinking about tomorrow's schedule, and gradually fell asleep...

Maybe it was because she got up too early in the morning, or maybe it was because she didn’t sleep well the night before, but Xie Jing slept particularly soundly.

Zhou Jiyun exercised for an hour according to his usual biological clock, and then practiced Tai Chi with the old man for a while. Seeing that Xie Jing would be delayed in getting the marriage certificate in the morning if she didn't wake up, Zhou Jiyun had to go to the bedroom to wake her up.

Xie Jing was woken up by the hot towel smeared on her face. She opened her eyes dazedly and said, "What time is it? I want to sleep a little longer."

"Let's go to bed after we get the marriage certificate. This is a big deal and we can't delay it." Zhou Jiyun said gently. He wiped Xie Jing's hand again and said, "It's nine o'clock. We have to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau at ten o'clock. If we queue up, it will be difficult for us to get home at eleven o'clock."

If he wasn't worried that Xie Jing hadn't rested well, Zhou Jiyun would have wanted to take Xie Jing to the Civil Affairs Bureau as soon as it opened. But thinking about how tired Xie Jing was yesterday, Zhou Jiyun gave up this particularly tempting idea.

Xie Jing was pulled up by Zhou Jiyun and sat there for two minutes before she finally digested Zhou Jiyun's words. When she heard it was already nine o'clock, Xie Jing immediately threw off the quilt and got out of bed: "Why didn't you wake me up earlier? Did Grandpa ask anything?"

"Grandpa didn't say anything," Zhou Jiyun followed Xie Jing to the bathroom. "Grandpa knew you were tired yesterday, so he let you sleep a little longer. This is home, not the palace, so why are there so many rules?"
