Chapter 29 I'm Not a Green Tea

After this little exchange at the dinner table, everything was naturally calm until she and Zhou Jiyun went out. At least there were no more unexpected incidents.

Because Xie Jing was visiting her parents, there was no driver this time, so the two of them went back alone. As soon as they got in the car, Xie Jing started complaining: "Does your Zhou family specialize in green tea?"

"Green tea?" Zhou Jiyun buckled Xie Jing's seatbelt. "Although I don't go online much, I know what a green tea is. I'm sure... I'm not a green tea."

Xie Jing burst out laughing. She didn't forget how Zhou Jiyun had flattered Shi Yu when she mentioned him before. If that wasn't green tea, what was it?

But since they didn't admit it, Xie Jing couldn't say anything. "I just feel that your second uncle and your brother Zhou Jiwen give people a very gloomy feeling, especially Zhou Jiwen. The things he said at the dinner table, without twenty years of careful cellaring, you can't make such green tea."

Zhou Jiyun was amused by Xie Jing. Seeing Xie Jing picking at her seat belt, he suddenly leaned closer to Xie Jing and rested his elbow on the armrest. "I was very happy just now, Jingjing, call me again."

"What's your name?" Xie Jing vaguely guessed what Zhou Jiyun meant, but remained calm. She was somewhat used to it; Zhou Jiyun would try to get close to her whenever he got the chance, and he would be even happier if he could get some advantage out of her.

"How did you call me at the dinner table just now? Call me again now." Zhou Jiyun looked at Xie Jing, his eyes like an endless deep sea, as if he wanted to completely engulf Xie Jing in it.

Xie Jing's face was stern and her tone was flat, without any of the sweetness she had at the table. It was so cold that it seemed to penetrate people's hearts: "Husband?"

Zhou Jiyun laughed: "Are you doing this on purpose? You know what I want to hear."

"No, I usually speak like this," Xie Jing immediately denied. She was disgusted by what happened at the dinner table that morning. Now Zhou Jiyun asked her to call him that, and Xie Jing was the first one who couldn't stand it.

"You're still pretty stubborn," Zhou Jiyun said, tapping Xie Jing's nose affectionately. He stopped teasing her. He understood the importance of not rushing things. Besides, everything between him and Xie Jing was moving in a good direction, so there was really no need to rush.

He would slowly build a greenhouse with gold and gems, surround it with patience and tenderness to create a fence, and nourish Xie Jing with his heart, flesh and blood, and surging love, allowing Xie Jing, the once withered rose, to come back to life in the greenhouse he carefully built.

Even though he himself has been tortured to the point of being almost obsessed by the heavy love and desire in his previous life, it doesn't matter. The more tortuous the process is, the sweeter the final fruit will be.

Forcefully suppressing his lustful thoughts, Zhou Jiyun tried to calm himself down and returned to the driver's seat. Xie Jing then breathed a sigh of relief. After repeatedly getting so close to Zhou Jiyun, Xie Jing felt that her defenses would eventually crumble.

Her intuition was right. Zhou Jiyun was a male vixen in human skin. He would exude his charm to her whenever he got the chance.

He was usually gentle, refined, and elegant in public, but when he was in front of her, he exuded masculine hormones. But he was also able to strike a balance, being ambiguous without being offensive, and being close without being greasy.

He was gradually shortening the distance between her and him, which Xie Jing saw clearly. But Xie Jing couldn't escape it. She and Zhou Jiyun were husband and wife, and she still hoped that there could be affection between husband and wife rather than a cold marriage.

She wasn't a little girl who only saw love; she was more realistic. If a couple in an arranged marriage had feelings for each other, the marriage would actually be more stable, because interests were the foundation, and feelings were the soft veil of warmth that covered the foundation.

The only difference between Xie Jing and Zhou Jiyun is that they need time to progress step by step, while Zhou Jiyun can't wait to get to the end. However, their ultimate goal is the same: to manage their marriage well.

Fortunately, Zhou Jiyun was going on a business trip, and Xie Jing couldn't help but feel thankful. For someone like Zhou Jiyun, who was usually abstinent and serious, but was extremely uninhibited in private, how many people could resist his charm if they were really together day and night?

Xie Jing shook her head, trying to get rid of these thoughts. She wanted to work on her marriage, but that didn't mean she had to put all her thoughts on her partner.

Over the past two days, Xie Jing had noticed her gaze increasingly focused on Zhou Jiyun. Perhaps if they each went about their own business first, Xie Jing would be able to sort out her already turbulent emotions when they met again.

"I'm on a business trip tonight and I'm alone at home. Will it feel a bit lonely?" Zhou Jiyun didn't want the car to be dull, so he casually found a topic.

Xie Jing shook her head: "No, I like being alone. Oh, by the way, I want to ask you something. Are you against having pets? I'll go to the animal rescue station when I have time..."

Zhou Jiyun's grip on the steering wheel tightened as he thought of Xie Jing's former pets: a pastoral dog with half its tail broken off, and a civet cat that had once been so sweet and helpful. They had all perished in the flames along with Xie Jing and her unborn child...

If he remembered the time correctly, Xie Jing would have already encountered them...

"I'm not opposed to having pets," Zhou Jiyun shook his head. "If you have a pet to keep you company, you don't have to worry about you feeling lonely at home. As long as you don't have exotic pets like snakes, scorpions, spiders, or lizards, I can accept anything else."

Xie Jing rarely felt like joking, "Even if I raise a small fragrant pig?"

"It's not impossible, as long as you like it." Zhou Jiyun didn't hesitate. Even if Xie Jing really wanted to raise a little pig at home, he would accept it.

He just wanted Xie Jing to stay in their home safely, nothing else mattered.

Xie Jing was a little disappointed that she hadn't succeeded in getting Zhou Jiyun to change his attitude, but she could also sense that Zhou Jiyun was very tolerant of her. From the time they got married until now, his only requirement for her was that they couldn't sleep in separate beds, and he always accommodated her in other situations.

Thinking about it this way, Zhou Jiyun was really good to her. Thinking of this, Xie Jing's mood couldn't help but improve a little, and she also wanted to explain a few words: "Last month, I met a pastoral dog and a civet cat at the rescue station. They were quite pitiful, but I think they were very compatible. It's just that their appearance is a little..."

She carefully tested Zhou Jiyun's limits, because the two animals she had her eye on both had their own flaws. For example, the pastoral dog had half its tail cut off and its right hind leg broken, clearly showing signs of abuse.

Caili's body was even more numb and swollen. Although she looked a little better in the photos a few days ago, she was still not beautiful.

Zhou Jiwen thought of the two very docile pets in his memory, and his eyes suddenly became sore: "Then take them home. We will go to the rescue station this afternoon to take them home?"
