Zhou Jiyun glanced at her phone's page and saw the word "rebirth." He shuddered, then relaxed again. "So, have you figured out anything?"
"The sample size is too small, and the research time is too short. I need to find more sample data." Xie Jing didn't mind Zhou Jiyun looking at her phone: "Look if you want."
"There's nothing to see," Xie Jing said, so Zhou Jiyun naturally stopped watching. He leaned back on the sofa, his arms outstretched, hinting at Xie Jing being included in his territory: "No matter what, it's not as good as the ups and downs we went through."
Xie Jing's ears twitched: "We?"
Zhou Jiyun knew he had said something wrong: "When will lunch arrive? You were in a bad mood when I called you."
Xie Jing knew he was trying to change the subject, so she wasn't in a rush to get to the bottom of it. Zhou Jiyun had already revealed enough flaws. Fortunately, Xie Jing didn't think she was stupid, and she would eventually unravel the truth.
The thought of her husband being reborn made Xie Jing feel a bit awkward. Zhou Jiyun was already six years older than her, so at 34, they were almost a generation apart.
Typical case of an old cow eating young grass.
"The restaurant said it would be delivered at 12 o'clock. I told the front desk, and they sent it up right away." Xie Jing followed his lead and changed the subject: "Professor Niu told me about the school anniversary this morning. This is the 60th anniversary of the school, and we need to have a grand celebration."
"The composition department is going to put on a show, and the professor specifically asked me to write the lyrics for the department's show. I couldn't refuse."
Zhou Jiyun understood: "Is it because this incident came so suddenly that it disrupted your original plan?"
"Yes, you really do understand me well," Xie Jing nodded. "I originally thought that once the professor's task was completed, I could focus on managing my account. I also need to record songs myself."
Zhou Jiyun: "Wouldn't it be too tiring to do these two things at the same time? Don't work too hard."
Xie Jing teased: "I thought you were going to say that you can afford to support me."
"Of course I can support you," Zhou Jiyun said calmly, "but saying that makes me seem disrespectful to you. I know you're not willing to just stay at home. You also have a career you love."
"I just hope that when you are working hard for your career, you won't be too hard-working and remember that there are people waiting for you at home."
Xie Jing was in a good mood. Now looking at Zhou Jiyun again, she found that Zhou Jiyun did have many advantages. First of all, he had a good sense of propriety and was very respectful. He would not look down on her small music career just because he was in a high position.
This is very rare. For people who have been in high positions for a long time, it is difficult for them to bend down and see others.
"I understand. I'm not that ambitious." Xie Jing smiled. "I'm just doing what I like."
Zhou Jiyun: "Will your school invite people from outside the school to attend the anniversary celebration?"
"It's highly unlikely, right?" Xie Jing raised her eyebrows slightly, and when she saw Zhou Jiyun's drooping brows, she suddenly smiled: "But the family members can."
Zhou Jiyun narrowed his eyes dangerously: "Jingjing, I find that you seem to have become mischievous now."
Xie Jing boldly touched his hair: "Didn't you tease me all the time before? I have to get revenge."
Zhou Jiyun leaned forward slightly, and Xie Jing was soon pushed down on the sofa by him. The faint scent of Zhou Jiyun's woody perfume lingered all around her. Xie Jing looked around: "This is in your office."
The implication is that this is a very serious place, where is there any room for mischief?
Zhou Jiyun grabbed Xie Jing's wrist with one hand and pressed it down above her head: "Don't you know that the office is also an excellent...place?"
Xie Jing's earlobes suddenly turned red, and her thoughts suddenly wandered to unspeakable places: "Zhou Jiyun, you... are so shameless!"
Zhou Jiyun said seriously: "How am I shameless? I mean the office is an excellent place to work."
Xie Jing knew that when it came to thick-skinnedness, she was definitely no match for the old fox who had lived two lifetimes. She now understood that the only difference between her and Zhou Jiyun was that Zhou Jiyun was even thicker-skinned than her and could say anything.
"If you ask me, verbal teasing is the most boring thing," Zhou Jiyun did not let Xie Jing go. He whispered in Xie Jing's ear, and when he saw the small earlobe, he even blew gently.
Xie Jing shrank her neck and hid on the inside of the sofa: "So, what's interesting?"
A hint of smile flashed across Zhou Jiyun's eyes: "Of course it's an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, just like now..."
He said this while lightly kissing Xie Jing's dimple. Xie Jing sighed, "This is an office, please be more restrained."
Zhou Jiyun couldn't hold it back any longer and kept laughing in the crook of Xie Jing's neck. Xie Jing felt embarrassed at first, but then she started to laugh: "Okay, lunch will be here soon. It's not good if others see us."
Zhou Jiyun pulled Xie Jing to sit up, and he had a good reason: "What's wrong with that? I'm being intimate with my wife..."
Xie Jing glared at him and said, "Shut up! It was just a kiss, how can that be considered affectionate? Your words are so ambiguous."
Zhou Jiyun joked: "Then what do you say is affection? Is it a kiss? Or a hug? Or..."
Xie Jing pushed him and said, "You're getting more excited the more you talk. I've noticed that you've become much more unbridled."
"I can't help it. It's Jingjing you who gave me the confidence." Zhou Jiyun played with Xie Jing's fingers: "I'm... spoiled by your favor."
Xie Jing couldn't help laughing. She pushed Zhou Jiyun's arm and said, "Someone is coming. Let go quickly. I don't like to show off my affection."
Zhou Jiyun reluctantly withdrew his hand, but the next second he squeezed closer to Xie Jing, like a big dog, wanting to stick close to his owner all the time.
Xie Jing was amused by her own analogy and arched her eyebrows: "What time do you get off work today?"
Zhou Jiyun understood the meaning of the music: "If everything goes well, I should be able to leave work on time. Jingjing, will you stay with me in the office?"
Xie Jing said proudly: "Let me take a look at the situation."
If Zhou Jiyun gets off work on time, it's not impossible for them to go back together.
Zhou Jiyun assumed Xie Jing had already agreed: "I'll have Special Assistant Lin buy some snacks and drinks, and send over a laptop. I definitely won't let you get bored."
"Unfortunately, I have two meetings this afternoon and can't accompany you."
Xie Jing waved her hand: "Really, no need. I can find fun on my own. You just need to focus on your work."
"Next time I come over, I'll try your company cafeteria." Xie Jing was a little curious: "I've never been to the Xie family's company, nor have I seen a company cafeteria. Is it similar to a school cafeteria?"
Zhou Jiyun served Xie Jing some food: "I dare not compare myself with your school. Your school has been established for decades, while Rongsheng has only been around for less than ten years. We can't compare."
