Chapter 30 Arresting People: What Did You and He Do at the Hotel?
After hearing what she said, Cong Yi was completely stunned. He couldn't believe that Lin Yu, who seemed so gentle and obedient, would do such a thing. He blinked and asked, "And then what happened?"
Lin Yu raised her face and said calmly, "There was no 'later'."
What followed was that Kong Sha wrote a 5,000-word self-criticism, admitting in front of everyone that she had misunderstood Lin Yu, and the rumors in the school disappeared without a trace.
And she could no longer purely see her brother as her brother.
Okay, Cong Yi looked away, "I didn't realize you were so brave."
Night fell, and the city lights began to twinkle.
Lin Yu glanced at the time on her phone, estimating that her brother should arrive soon. She stood up and said, "Sit here for a while, I'm going to take a shower."
Cong Yi: "Oh, okay."
Hot water poured over her head. Lin Yu stood in the steaming mist, tilting her head slightly. The scent of jasmine wafted around her nose, and the steam blurred her vision. She felt as if she were trapped in a fog, unable to discern the way ahead.
The hairdryer buzzed on, and time ticked by. Cong Yi suddenly became restless. Just as he was about to get up, he heard the sound of a door opening. He lifted his eyelids and saw Lin Yu walking out of the bathroom in a bathrobe. She picked up her bag and seemed to be rummaging through it.
The moment he lowered his head, a series of rapid knocks suddenly sounded at the door, like the sound of a temple mallet striking an ancient bell. Each knock startled Cong Yi, making his eyelids twitch. He almost instantly ran over and knocked on the bathroom door, anxiously calling out, "Lin Yu, um... your brother, he seems to be... here, right outside the door."
Three seconds later, the bathroom door was pushed open, and Yi faced Lin Yu's face, blinking her eyelashes as she stared at her intently.
The bathroom was filled with steam, making her porcelain-white cheeks look like soft, ripe peaches. Her light amber eyes shone brightly, her cherry-red lips were slightly parted, and her straight hair was draped behind her head. A few strands of hair, damp with moisture, clung unruly to her neck. Further down, her bathrobe was slightly open, revealing two straight collarbones and her snow-white, delicate skin.
A faint red mark was visible above her collarbone, striking and eye-catching.
Cong Yi's eyes widened instantly, his long, fine eyelashes blinking rapidly. "You—," he said, then swallowed hard, but the doorbell rang again.
Upon hearing the sound, Lin Yu's heart suddenly pounded harder. The ringing sound didn't seem to strike her eardrums, but rather seemed to fall on her heart. The two looked at each other and fell silent.
Zhou Ke arrived much faster than Lin Yu had expected. She looked down at the suggestive bathrobe she was wearing, carefully examined it to make sure everything was alright, and then glanced at Cong Yi: "Don't go over there, I'll go open the door."
After saying that, Lin Yu pinched her palms and walked towards the entrance. Her slippers stepped onto the soft carpet, and she felt her heart pounding so hard that her breathing tightened.
Looking at the dark walnut wood door, Lin Yu took a deep breath. Her brother was outside the door, waiting for her to open it from the inside. At this moment, she was imagining what kind of expression Zhou Ke would have on his face after the door opened. Just thinking about it made her blood boil.
Zhou Ke felt somewhat absurd. Most people would come to a hotel to arrest someone because they were wearing a hat, but he was here because of his sister.
Forty-five minutes had passed since the phone call ended, and he had been standing there for five minutes. He had rang the doorbell twice, but the door still showed no sign of opening. Zhou Ke felt that his patience was about to run out. He closed his eyes, his jawline sharpened, and was about to knock on the door again when the door suddenly opened.
The door was gradually widened, and Zhou Ke lowered his eyes. In his field of vision, a fair-skinned, red-lipped girl stood crisply before him, a white bathrobe loosely tied around her body, wrapping around the girl's graceful curves.
Zhou Ke lowered his brows, his dark gaze fixed on Lin Yu's face. Her bathrobe collar was wide open, revealing a large expanse of pinkish skin, and several ambiguous red marks on her collarbone were particularly glaring under the light. Seeing her attire at this moment, he immediately frowned, a raging fire rising in his heart. It felt as if a huge rock had pressed down on his chest, crushing him to the spot, unable to move.
When their eyes met, she felt her brother's dark and fierce gaze, and her back stiffened abruptly. Her feet seemed to be glued to the carpet. Because he had just attended a wedding during the day, he was still wearing a proper white shirt and black suit, but a few buttons on his shirt were loosely undone, revealing his shallow V-neck chest.
This was the first time Lin Yu had seen him in a suit. He was already tall and slender, and with his handsome features and composed demeanor, he inexplicably exuded an air of nobility.
Lin Yu swallowed hard, suppressing the surging emotions within her.
"Brother, why did you come here?" She blinked, a hint of surprise on her face, her tone a mixture of bewilderment and disbelief, as if she found it hard to believe he would choose to come in person.
Seeing her blank expression, Zhou Ke's anger flared up, his handsome, cold face radiating a chilling aura under the lamplight. He couldn't believe that his younger sister, whom he had raised, had gone to a hotel with someone right before his eyes, before he was even too dead to move.
"Come back with me!"
The man's voice was cold and sharp, with veins bulging on his forehead, and each word seemed to be clenched between his teeth.
Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat, and she let out a soft "Ah," then lowered her head and stammered, "Brother, can't I stay here?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Zhou Ke stopped looking at her and turned his gaze to the room behind her. He hadn't seen Cong Yi since he arrived, but he could hear a faint sound of water coming from inside the room.
Seeing Lin Yu's reluctance to leave, Zhou Ke struggled to suppress the urge to drag her away. He laughed in exasperation, his facial features taut and sharp, radiating a chilling aura. His clear eyes were dark and menacing as he said, word by word, "Do you want me to go in and greet your sweetheart myself?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Yu's already unsettled heart suddenly skipped a beat, then began to pound wildly. The sound above her head made her scalp tingle, and even without looking up, she could tell how unpleasant Zhou Ke's expression was.
She spoke slowly, her voice low, "No need... I'll go back with you."
...
His attitude was reluctant, his steps slow and deliberate, as if he were some kind of monstrous beast. Zhou Ke glanced at his sister following behind him, his lips pressed tightly together, his dark eyes deep and unfathomable.
The elevator doors opened with a 'ding'. Zhou Ke glanced at the girl standing beside him, but didn't say anything. Lin Yu understood and stepped into the elevator first, followed by Zhou Ke, who pressed the button for the first floor.
The elevator doors closed, and soon, only the two of them remained in the cramped space. The elevator descended, and the floor numbers gradually decreased.
The atmosphere was quiet and eerie. The soft light from the overhead lamp cast a pale yellow shadow on the two of them. Lin Yu looked up and, through the spotless door, clearly saw the expression on Zhou Ke's face. His dark eyes were fixed on her, filled with thick clouds, as if shrouded in an impenetrable fog, or like the sea before a storm.
She came out in a hurry, still wearing the hotel bathrobe, revealing her fair and slender neck and a few strands of wet hair.
Zhou Ke glanced away, feeling a surge of heat in his chest and his temples throbbing.
Lin Yu was looking down, pondering how to explain to her brother in a way that would stir up his suppressed emotions. Lost in thought, she suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder, and a rich, familiar, cool scent of green berries wafted towards her. Looking around, she realized that the suit jacket that her brother had been wearing was now draped over her shoulders, still warm from his body, as if she were being held in his arms. Her eyelashes trembled involuntarily.
As dusk settled, streetlights hung high on both sides of the street, and neon lights flickered on the distant high-rise buildings.
After leaving the hotel, Zhou Ke led Lin Yu towards the parking area.
From the moment they entered the elevator, Zhou Ke kept a straight face and remained silent. Lin Yu guessed that he didn't want to scold his sister in public, but even though there were only the two of them in the car, Zhou Ke still had a cold expression and didn't say a word.
Lin Yu glanced sideways, using her peripheral vision to probe her brother's expression. The carriage was dimly lit, and his handsome face was hidden in the shadows, his usual gentleness gone, leaving only a cold and stern look. His long eyelashes formed a faint reflection under his eyes.
Lin Yu opened her lips, unsure of what to say.
Just then, her phone, which was in her pocket, suddenly rang. The sound was particularly jarring in the quiet carriage, and Lin Yu's heart skipped a beat. She picked up her phone, turned on the screen, and saw Cong Yi's name clearly displayed on the screen as the glowing light came on.
"Whose message?"
In the enclosed and quiet space, Zhou Ke suddenly spoke, his voice low and indifferent. Lin Yu was so startled that her wrist trembled and she almost dropped her phone.
She raised her eyes, her fingers tightening around the phone. The two words, though only two, seemed to burn her lips and tongue. After a long silence, she hesitantly spoke, "Yes... Cong Yi."
The moment those two words appeared, the atmosphere inside the car turned as cold as frost.
Zhou Ke spoke up, questioning, "What did he say in the message he sent you?"
Lin Yu slowly turned her head, her gaze falling on Zhou Kefeng's cold jawline. "I haven't had a chance to see it yet."
"Now you can watch it." Zhou Ke turned his head and fixed his gaze on Lin Yu's face.
She was going to look, but being stared at like that, she suddenly felt a chill down her spine.
Lin Yu raised her fingertip and tapped into WeChat. She only had two people pinned to the top of her chat list: Zhou Ke and Jia Yi. To put on an act, she added Cong Yi to the list as well. Right now, because Cong Yi had just sent her a message, his profile picture was prominently displayed in the first column, with a small red dot on the right indicating the number 1, a message that was not yet read. There was no need to tap on it to read it.
Lin Yu flipped the screen onto her lap, blinked, looked at Zhou Ke, and said in a low voice, "He asked me where I went and why I left."
At this point, Lin Yu had something to say, "Brother, I'm all grown up now. It's my freedom to date. I know you don't like him, but how am I supposed to explain to him that you came over in the middle of the night, all aggressive, to take me home?"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Ke felt his already dwindling rationality instantly burn out, and his face darkened. He was already simmering with anger, and all the way here, the pent-up rage could only surge wildly within him. Through his open collar, the prominent veins on the side of his neck were clearly visible. With a sinister expression, he spoke to her in such a tone for the first time.
"Lin Yu! Do you even know how old you are? You're already going to book hotel rooms with people right after you turn twenty? How long have you been dating? How well do you really know him? Are you so eager to entrust yourself to him?" Zhou Ke's breathing quickened, his dark eyes turning red with anger, veins bulging on his forehead, and a slight tremor in his chest. He tried his best to calm himself down, but the thought of what the two of them might have done in the room before he arrived at the hotel made his chest feel like it was being stabbed by countless needles, a dense, throbbing pain.
"Even knowing I don't like him, you still choose to be with him, right?" His pupils contracted sharply, and each word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
After speaking, Zhou Ke seemed unable to believe what he had just heard, his expression one of shock.
Saying that your brother will always be the most important person is all nonsense. When it really comes down to making a choice, he actually becomes the one who can be abandoned.
Thinking of this, all the blood in his body rushed to his head in an instant. He gritted his teeth and asked the question, almost trembling, "So, what did you and he do at the hotel?"
“Brother…” Lin Yu looked blankly at her brother, who seemed to be in a fit of rage. She was stunned for a moment, then bit her lip, looking like she was unwilling to speak no matter what.
Gao Qiang collapsed, and a tsunami roared.
"Speak! Hmm?"
During the standoff, Zhou Ke leaned over, grabbed her shoulder, and pressed her forcefully against the seat. Lin Yu's eyes widened immediately. Because they were inside the car, she had taken off the coat she was wearing, so now she was only wearing a bathrobe. The bathrobe had a wide collar, and with his action, it quickly slipped down to her shoulders, revealing pink bra straps, her fair and rounded shoulders, and half of her soft, white breasts.
Upon seeing this, a hint of panic flashed in Zhou Ke's eyes, and then, as if he had seen something he shouldn't have, he closed his eyes with a glare.
The air in the carriage was sealed off, and the atmosphere became exceptionally eerie.
Lin Yu's heart pounded, not from nervousness, but from excitement. Her gaze was fixed on Zhou Ke's eyes, and she called out softly, "Brother, I..."
Zhou Ke opened his eyes, his eyes burning red, but his gaze was like a frozen pool in winter. He glanced over and suddenly noticed the red mark on the side of her neck. Her skin was fair, and the small red mark on her skin looked like a glaring mosquito bite. If he still had a glimmer of hope before, he understood everything now.
Reason is like snow collapsing from a mountaintop in an instant, falling in pieces with unstoppable destructive force.
"Very good." He said those two words almost through gritted teeth.
He released his grip on Lin Yu's shoulders and looked at her with a self-deprecating look in his eyes.
Lin Yu's mind went blank for a moment. She stiffened and leaned back in her seat, almost forgetting to breathe. She remembered the red marks she had deliberately made in the bathroom, just to make her brother misunderstand her relationship with Cong Yi. And now, just as Lin Yu had expected, he was enraged.
The deafening slam of the door echoed in her ears, and Lin Yu suddenly shrank back, her heart pounding like a drum. She tilted her head and saw that Zhou Ke had already left the driver's seat.
Zhou Ke felt that he might not be able to stay in the same enclosed space as his sister. The air in the carriage was oppressive, probably because she had just taken a shower. She still carried the rich fragrance of shower gel, which wafted into his respiratory tract, making his already agitated mood even worse.
Cong Yi's appearance was like a huge rock suddenly crashing into a calm lake, splashing up a huge amount of water and stirring up layers of waves.
Yan Yadong earnestly advised him to learn to accept it. After all, his sister was his sister, and he shouldn't be too controlling. Although his words were harsh, Zhou Ke listened to them to some extent. He began to deliberately avoid Lin Yu, trying to numb himself by not seeing her.
But only now has he realized he was wrong, and he seems unable to accept this fact.
He lowered his gaze, bloodshot eyes rising, the cigarette in his hand flickering. He took a few deep drags, his Adam's apple bobbing dryly.
The night wind still carried a restless heat, making the raging fire in his heart burn even brighter. Zhou Ke closed his eyes heavily, and those beautiful and alluring images rushed to his mind: her watery eyes, the light and soft snow, and then the red kiss mark that was more intense than blood.
Inside the carriage, Lin Yu remained in the same position, staring blankly out the window. Through the windshield, she could only see Zhou Ke's broad back. His white shirt was tucked into his trousers, outlining his lean waist and abdomen. Lin Yu's eyelashes trembled. The evening breeze ruffled his tousled hair. The cigarette in his hand emitted a crimson glow, and wisps of grayish-blue smoke rose gently.
This was the first time Lin Yu had seen him smoking.
He was forced into it by himself, leaving him with no other choice.
She was momentarily at a loss as to whether to marvel at her own abilities or get out of the car to comfort the person.
But in the end, she chose to do nothing and just quietly watch him.
Even after smoking a cigarette, Zhou Ke still couldn't calm down the restlessness in his heart. He tried his best to squeeze those images out of his mind, but they were like roots, firmly planted in his mind. One moment it was the image of her opening the door in her bathrobe, and the other was the image of her collar being slightly open, revealing her collarbone.
His palms felt hot, and for a moment, he really wanted to grab her neck, lift her chin, and cover the red mark on her neck in his own way.
Thinking of this, Zhou Ke was suddenly startled by his own beastly thoughts.
He must be insane.
