Chapter 17: The Fake Daughter of a Prominent Family
Ah Da led Ben Lei into the stable and casually asked Wang Zhong, the servant who was cleaning the stable:
"I just saw someone leaving in a hurry outside. Are they here to look for you?"
Wang Zhong didn't even raise his head:
"You are talking about Aunt Qin, right? She didn't come to see me, and I don't know what she came for. When I asked her, she just smiled. It was very strange."
After Ada settled Benlei down, he seemed a little bored and sat aside to chat with Wang Zhong:
"Which Aunt Qin? I don't think I've ever seen her."
Wang Zhong smiled and said:
"You've only been here for a few days? How is it possible that you know everyone? Besides, Aunt Qin is basically in the back and rarely comes here. It's normal that you haven't seen her."
Ah Da helped him with the work, but Wang Zhong quickly refused: "The lady told you not to do these things."
"Nothing, I was bored too, just doing something easy." Ah Da ignored him, his hands kept moving: "Mr. Ye is here, Miss went to the front."
Wang Zhong looked proud:
"Our Miss Youran is very popular. It seems that she can't escape the position of Madam of the Ye family."
Ah Da skipped this topic and continued with the previous question: "Is Aunt Qin also an elder of the Su family?"
"She came here a few years ago. She is a poor person. She has no relatives at home. She is the only one with a daughter. Housekeeper Lin felt sorry for her and kept her as a maid."
Wang Zhong sighed:
"But she doesn't like to interact with people. When she's not doing anything, she mostly stays in her room. Her daughter has also been raised to be timid. She bows her head when she sees people, but she's a good person. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about them."
Ah Da was thinking, how could such a person who doesn't like to go out suddenly come to the horse farm? And he looked like he didn't dare to let anyone know.
"Which one is her daughter? How old is she?"
Wang Zhong looked up at Ah Da and laughed, "Why are you asking this? Are you planning to find a wife for yourself?"
Ah Da looked helpless:
"Just asking casually, I'm not looking for a wife right now."
When he mentioned the word "wife", Ah Da felt sad and bitter. He only wanted one wife, but she was like the moon in the sky or the shadow in the water, and he couldn't get her now.
In fact, it’s not that he doesn’t know how to deal with people. At least in the past few days, he has been getting along well with most of the servants in the Su Mansion.
He knew what to say in what situation, and he just did it on purpose to make the young lady happy.
Wang Zhong didn't know whether he believed it or not, and his expression was still full of joking:
"You must have never seen that girl. Her mother is very strict and never lets her out. As for her age..."
He thought about it and said uncertainly:
"She should be about the same age as Miss Youran, right? I remember that when they first came, the girl was about the same height as Miss Youran. Steward Lin originally wanted her to serve the lady, but Aunt Qin refused to let her, saying that the girl was young and ignorant and should not offend the master. Steward Lin was not very happy at the time, and everyone knows it."
A Da asked a few more questions in a roundabout way and then stopped asking, for fear that if he asked too much, Wang Zhong would really think that he had a crush on Aunt Qin's daughter and then spread the news to them.
His eyes were dark. There must be something wrong with this Aunt Qin. Even if she was not good at dealing with people, she would not avoid people like this. It was as if she was deliberately avoiding others.
And the sneaky thing just now...
Ada inexplicably thought of the fragment that suddenly appeared in the horse farm. Could it be related to them?
If the fragment was left there intentionally, it meant that someone wanted to harm Miss Youran.
But why?
The young lady has always been kind to others and has never had any grudges with anyone. Why would someone want to harm her?
If the frightened horse incident had nothing to do with them and was just an accident, then what was Aunt Qin looking at today?
A Da felt that for the sake of the young lady, he should pay close attention to Aunt Qin and her daughter just to be on the safe side.
Seeing that there was no one around, Ye Jiuzhou quickly reached out and held Su Youran's hand.
Su Youran tried to struggle free, but when she saw that she couldn't get free, she decided not to bother and just let him do it.
Ye Jiuzhou held her hand and looked behind him again. The man's figure was no longer visible, but he felt as if there was still a pair of eyes staring at him and Ranran.
"Who is that man? He was there when I first met you. He doesn't look like an ordinary servant, does he?"
Su Youran walked slowly and said casually:
"Ada, I met him abroad. He had just been robbed and was seriously injured. I saved him, but he didn't remember anything and just kept following me."
Ye Jiuzhou paused: "Following you all the time?"
You were with him for several years abroad?
"Yeah, what's wrong?"
Su Youran squinted at him. “Whether we were abroad or on the way back, I was protected by him. You’re not going to follow those old pedants and talk about the strict separation of men and women, are you?”
Ye Jiuzhou held her hands and faced her:
"No, I'm not saying there's a strict separation between men and women. I'm grateful that he protected you, but..."
Su Youran glared at him. “Just what?”
Ye Jiuzhou pulled her closer so that she could see his eyes clearly:
"I'm just a little jealous and envious. I wish I had met you earlier."
Su Youran was stunned for a moment, then asked uncertainly, "Are you...jealous?"
Ye Jiuzhou felt a little uncomfortable and coughed lightly. He saw through it but didn't say it out loud. Doesn't he have any face?
Su Youran realized what was happening and couldn't help laughing. She laughed louder and louder and couldn't stop.
"You are jealous too, you are such a jealous person!"
Ye Jiuzhou simply pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly:
"He has known you for several years before me, and has been with you for several more years than I have. Maybe he knows your habits better than I do. Isn't it normal for me to be jealous?"
Su Youran leaned against his chest, listening to his erratic heartbeat, and slowly put her arm around Ye Jiuzhou's strong waist:
"But it's you who's holding me now."
She raised her head and looked at Ye Jiuzhou: "Are you still jealous even after this?"
Ye Jiuzhou felt as sweet as if his heart was filled with honey: "It's not enough..."
He kissed Su Youran gently on her lips, and the two of them hugged each other at the corner of the Su Mansion, exchanging each other's breath.
The sunlight shone over, clearly reflecting two overlapping figures on the ground.
After a long while, the two figures separated and continued to move forward.
Ye Jiuzhou would turn around and look at Su Youran every once in a while with a silly smile on his face.
Su Youran felt helpless when he looked at her, and she said angrily, “What are you looking at?”
Ye Jiuzhou shook their crossed hands, took another look at her shiny, moist lips, and smiled like a fool:
"That's great...it's going to be fine this way."
It’s great to meet you.
It’s great to be with you.
Su Youran looked at him and couldn't help but smile. She leaned her head on his sturdy arms:
"In order to stay this good, you have to work hard."
Try not to be replaced by others.
Ye Jiuzhou thought she meant that he should try his best to be nice to her so that she would like him more. He hugged Su Youran and lowered his head to place a kiss on the top of her head.
"Okay, I'll try my best."
I will try to love you more every day than yesterday, and try to make you like me so much that you can't live without me.
When the two returned to the main building, Wu Shuxian was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper, and no one else was seen.
Aunt Wei was tactful enough not to disturb them, and Aunt Liu's house arrest had not yet been lifted. Su Meiming didn't want to watch others kissing and being sad, so she simply went out to find some friends.
Su De had no money, and it was not time for his monthly allowance to be paid yet. He had no choice but to go to Aunt Liu and try to get some money out of her to spend.
Wu Shuxian looked at the two people who came in hand in hand, and the smile on her face deepened.
She shook the newspaper in her hand and handed it to Su Youran: “Take a look.”
The Wu family is a scholarly family, and she has been well-versed in poetry and books since childhood. Although she has never attended a new-style school, her knowledge is no worse than those female students today.
On the contrary, the foundation is even deeper.
Wu Shuxian usually has the habit of reading newspapers every day. This morning, Uncle Lin brought the new newspaper and specifically mentioned:
"Ma'am, today's newspaper is quite interesting. The newsboys on the street are selling it very well."
At the time, Wu Shuxian was puzzled. Aren’t newspapers the same every day? How interesting could they be?
And why did Uncle Lin look so strange? It was as if he was trying not to laugh, or as if he was embarrassed.
When she took it and took a look, she knew it. Wu Shuxian felt that she seemed to have eaten too much for breakfast today and felt a little full.
Su Youran took the newspaper, still wondering:
"Mom, why are you giving me the newspaper? I don't like reading these. Every day this criticizes that, that criticizes this. What's so interesting about it?"
Wu Shuxian glanced meaningfully at Ye Jiuzhou, who looked expectant, and said to Su Youran:
"Today's is quite interesting, take a look."
Su Youran sat on the sofa, took out her hand that Ye Jiuzhou was holding, unfolded the newspaper, looked down, and was stunned.
The headline on the front page read: To my beloved Miss Su...
Su Youran read through the entire article quickly, lingering a little longer at the end. The article was signed at the end: From your eternal admirer, Ye Jiuzhou.
She looked up at Ye Jiuzhou who was sitting next to her: "Are you really writing it?"
And it's been published, so doesn't that mean everyone who reads the newspaper will know about it?
Su Youran finally realized that this way of expressing her feelings was somewhat shameful. She didn't know whether to be happy or angry:
"You! Aren't you ashamed?"
Ye Jiuzhou held her hand again:
"What's there to be ashamed of? I promised to write you a love poem every day. I will definitely do what I promised you."
Su Youran’s cheeks flushed:
"But...but...they will definitely talk about me!"
Ye Jiuzhou took a thin blanket from the side and put it on Su Youran's legs. The room was still a little cooler than outside, so he comforted her:
"Let them talk about it. The whole city of Sucheng should know about our relationship by now. What's wrong with a fiancé writing love poems to his fiancée?"
Su Youran finally understood Ye Jiuzhou's evil intentions:
"Okay, that's what you're planning, right? You just want everyone to know..."
There was a hint of pride in Ye Jiuzhou's eyes. Yes, he just wanted to tell the world that she was his!
