Cheng Muyun's phrase "the more the better" almost emptied Xu Shinong's study.
The two spoke in unison, but Cheng Muyun didn't understand these priceless antiques, and Xu Zhuohua didn't feel comfortable speaking up.
As long as it was something valuable, Xu Zhuohua would just cough lightly, and Cheng Muyun would find a reason to add it to her dowry list.
Xu Zhuohua and Cheng Muyun spent two days wandering around the Xu residence, taking a liking to countless antique treasures.
The Xu family finally couldn't hold out any longer, quickly prepared a dowry list, and hurriedly and respectfully sent off the two powerful figures.
At the entrance of the Xu residence, Xu Shih-nong could no longer maintain a semblance of peace, her face filled with disgust.
"Uncle, we're leaving now. Don't worry, I will take good care of Miss."
Xu Shinong nodded vigorously, "Let's go, let's go, be careful on the road."
The First Madam feigned concern, holding Xu Zhuohua's hand and saying, "Your trip represents the Xu family's reputation, so you must be mindful of your words and actions."
Xu Zhuohua nodded, withdrew her hand, then took Xinghua's hand and got into the car.
After Xu Zhuohua sat down, Xinghua was pulled to the front by Zhang Qi. "You're sitting in the back, where will the young marshal sit?"
Xinghua, clutching her small bundle, sat down in front.
Amidst the Xu family's feigned reluctance, a mixture of lingering affection and delight, the car slowly started moving.
Xu Zhuohua couldn't quite describe her feelings. She hadn't grown up in the Xu family mansion, so she naturally had no feelings for it. She stared blankly at the road ahead.
Before long, war will break out on this land, and she needs to do everything she can to stay far away and survive until the dawn.
To get from Dongzhou to Xinhaicheng, you have to transfer to a steam train, which takes a whole day and night.
Xu Zhuohua and Xinghua were in one private room, while Cheng Muyun and Zhang Qi were in another.
It was Xu Zhuohua's first time riding this kind of train, and she was filled with curiosity. The soft beds and elegant curtains looked very valuable.
In an era where everyone is struggling to get enough to eat, the wealthy still manage to enjoy material comforts that are ahead of their time.
For some reason, Xu Zhuohua felt a little guilty.
This inexplicable sense of guilt made her sleep extremely restlessly at night.
Xinghua, on the other hand, was sleeping soundly, even snoring.
Xu Zhuohua was looking out the window at the wilderness with boredom when she suddenly heard arguing outside.
There were both men and women, and their voices came from afar, stopping right in front of Xu Zhuohua's door.
“We want to change rooms. We have plenty of money. There’s a fight going on in that carriage. It’s too unsafe.”
Xu Zhuohua recognized the voice immediately and flung the door open.
Xu Minghua and Xu Jiyi, who were arguing with the flight attendant, stood frozen in place.
"Xu Zhuohua?" Xu Minghua spoke first, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you have left long ago?"
They were originally supposed to take the morning bus, but they went to the nunnery to teach a lesson to the people who had bullied the original owner of the body, which delayed them a bit, so they chose the evening bus instead.
Xu Zhuohua rolled her eyes. "Mind your own business."
Xu Minghua was in an awkward situation and had been rebuked by Xu Zhuohua. She was immediately annoyed and pointed at Xu Zhuohua, saying loudly, "Don't think you've become a phoenix just because you've flown up a branch. You country bumpkin, how dare you talk to me like that?"
Xu Zhuohua raised her chin. "So what if I said that? You're making a scene outside my private room in the middle of the night and you still think you're right?"
Seeing that he was being humiliated, Xu Minghua stopped pretending and reached out to hit Xu Zhuohua, saying, "How dare you talk to me like that?"
Xu Zhuohua remained unmoved, waiting for Xu Minghua to make a move so that he could return all the humiliation the original owner had suffered over the years.
At worst, we can fight it out, and who wins and who loses is still uncertain.
Just before the two sides were about to clash, the door to the private room next door opened, and Cheng Muyun, his collar slightly open and his eyes still sleepy, appeared.
He leaned against the doorframe, a half-smile playing on his lips, his voice hollow and deep, his eyes filled with murderous intent. "Does the Second Miss want to make a move? To beat up my people in my carriage?"
Xu Minghua slowly lowered her raised hand; she wasn't arrogant enough to dare provoke Cheng Muyun.
The flight attendant couldn't afford to offend either of the powerful figures in front of her. "Young Master Xu, Miss Xu, this carriage has been booked by this gentleman. Please go back. The fight over there has been resolved."
Upon hearing that the man was the young master of the Xu family, Xu Zhuohua looked up.
The Xu family members weren't very kind to the original owner, except for the third young master. He liked this younger sister, thinking she was beautiful and well-behaved. He often secretly gave her pastries and played games with her frequently, making her a ray of light in the original owner's difficult life.
If the original owner hadn't been sent to a temple later, the two of them could be considered childhood sweethearts.
They missed each other in a hurry that night, and Xu Zhuohua didn't even notice Xu Jiyi.
Six years had passed, and Xu Jiyi had grown up to look completely different from how he was remembered. The mischievous boy who used to love jumping around had now become steady and mature, with a gloomy look between his brows.
Like the misty rain of Jiangnan, it is damp yet resilient, its form as pine and cypress, its broad shoulders seemingly bearing a heavy burden.
Xu Zhuohua suddenly felt a pang of heartache and clutched her chest.
Then she realized that it wasn't her feeling sorry for the body, but rather the body itself that was feeling sorry for her.
It's the original owner of this body rebelling!
Does this body not belong to Xu Zhuohua?
In Cheng Muyun's eyes, Xu Zhuohua's gaze was nothing short of a genuine expression of emotion. He stood in front of Xu Zhuohua and used his shoulder to block Xu Zhuohua's view.
"Alright, we're all family. Arrange two empty private rooms for Young Master Xu and Miss Xu."
The flight attendant immediately guided the group away.
Xu Jiyi walked last, turning his head to look at Xu Zhuohua with a hint of reluctance.
