Chapter 142 Zhou Minhai Drowns

Cheng Muyun walked around the front of the car. The metal door made a slight creaking sound as it was pushed open, and the moonlight slanted across the bloodshot veins in his eyes.

"It's alright." Cheng Muyun reached out and grasped Xu Zhuohua's cold wrist. "Let's go."

He suddenly laughed, but the curve of his lips was more painful than a grimace. "Enjoy life while you can—isn't that right?"

Xu Zhuohua let him pull her up, and another sigh escaped her lips. She walked unsteadily toward the streetlights in the distance, their shadows stretched long and twisted into grotesque shapes on the ground.

Since neither Cheng Muyun nor Chen Hede is worried, my worries are unnecessary, so I might as well enjoy life while I can.

Cheng Muyun and Chen Hede were drinking and chatting happily, but Xu Zhuohua remained uninterested.

She could only manage two bites of each dish.

I just don't know what's wrong with these two; they can talk a lot and drink a lot too.

As the grandfather clock struck eleven, Xu Zhuohua rubbed her throbbing temples and got up. Just as she was about to help Cheng Muyun, the carved wooden door was suddenly kicked open, bringing with it a gust of wind.

Xu Jixin leaned against the door frame, his silver cufflinks gleaming coldly under the wall lamp.

Behind him followed Xinghua, her eyes lowered and her gaze lowered.

Xu Zhuohua stood frozen in place, her fingertips still clutching Cheng Muyun's crumpled clothes, a burning sensation in her throat.

"What, did you think I was locked up by you?" Xu Jixin raised an eyebrow, revealing eyes that were exactly like hers.

As he stepped in, the sound of his leather shoes on the blue bricks startled Chen Hede, who looked up sharply but then slumped back down and continued muttering.

Xu Zhuohua's Adam's apple bobbed, her nails dug deeply into her palms, and her eyes inexplicably burned: "I'm sorry, Second Brother, I..."

Xu Jixin waved his hand irritably, "Alright, alright, Dad agrees to you doing this, so I don't want to argue anymore. Come with me."

Xu Zhuohua glanced at Cheng Muyun, and Xu Jixin said, "Xinghua came to find me, saying that you were kicked out by Governor Cheng, and asked me to come and pick you up."

Although his voice was impatient, Xu Jixin still came. "Honestly, they didn't even invite me to drink, leaving me to clean up their mess. Those two only picked out the good wines to drink, and one meal cost me more than twenty dollars."

Xu Zhuohua finally breathed a sigh of relief; she had thought that Xu Jixin would develop a grudge against her because of this.

The carved bed creaked slightly under the weight of the two people. When Xu Zhuohua threw Cheng Muyun onto the bed, she collapsed beside him as if all her strength had left her.

She stared at the silver-embroidered curtains hanging from the ceiling. Moonlight filtered through the gauze curtains, casting dappled shadows on Cheng Muyun's face, making it seem as if it were covered with fine scars.

"How much can you drink before you get drunk?" Her fingertips touched the stubble on his chin.

Xu Zhuohua's eyes suddenly welled up with tears, and her fingertips gently traced the wrinkles between his brows, "If you hadn't met me..."

The man suddenly gripped her wrist, his body heat seeping through her skin. Cheng Muyun's hazy pupils reflected her reddened eyes, his eyelashes fluttering as they brushed against the back of her hand: "Zhuohua..."

His voice was hoarse, as if he had swallowed a handful of shards of glass, and his other hand groped for a strand of her hair that had fallen down. "Don't go..."

Scalding tears fell onto Cheng Muyun's cold collarbone. Xu Zhuohua trembled and turned her face away, but his alcohol-smelling palm gripped her chin.

The man's eyes shattered like stars, reflecting her reddened nose and the tears clinging to her eyelashes. A burning ember seemed to be stuck in his throat, a sob mixed with a whimper catching in his chest, even his breath tasted metallic.

"Xu Zhuohua?" Cheng Muyun's thumb brushed against her damp cheek, his voice carrying an unprecedented husky tenderness, like melting snow in winter washing over scorched earth.

A delicate touch came from the back of her neck under his palm. Cheng Muyun's Adam's apple bobbed, and he pulled her tightly into his arms.

A kiss, reeking of alcohol, landed without warning, teeth striking her trembling lips, the tip of his tongue brushing against the salty tear stains.

Unable to resist the intense heat of their intertwined breaths, Xu Zhuohua opened his mouth and took in the kiss, which was tinged with the smell of alcohol. He was now completely absorbed in the moment.

The man gently held the back of Xu Zhuohua's head, deepening the kiss.

It was as if everything in the world had fallen into nothingness, and only this kiss was real.

Cheng Muyun rolled over and pinned Xu Zhuohua down. When she opened her eyes, she realized that Cheng Muyun's eyes had regained their clarity.

The moment his lips left hers, Xu Zhuohua opened her mouth and reached out to hug his neck.

A smile played on the man's lips as he moved with the gentleness of a feather brushing across water, his fingertips tracing her flushed ear and tucking a stray hair behind it.

Their lips touched each other carefully, like petals tentatively blooming in spring, deepening the kiss little by little. Occasionally, he would gently hold her lower lip in his mouth, tracing the shape of her lips with the tip of his tongue. Their breaths intertwined, sweet and tender. Time seemed to stand still at this moment, leaving only the throbbing of two hearts drawing closer and closer.

Xu Zhuohua slowly loosened her grip; she was gradually losing strength.

With a smile on his lips, Cheng Muyun removed her heavy clothes.

"Zhuohua, are you unhappy?"

Xu Zhuohua let Cheng Muyun strip her down to her undergarments. She had to admit that she thoroughly enjoyed being served by Cheng Muyun.

She smiled and said, "I'm happy, but not happy either. Overall, it's just average."

Cheng Muyun's kiss landed on her neck, delicate and tender, tracing beautiful shapes with his lips from left to right and from top to bottom.

Without realizing it, Cheng Muyun had taken off all his clothes, and their chests rubbed against each other. Xu Zhuohua felt as if her body was on fire, unbearably hot.

Cheng Muyun placed two slender fingers under her body and gently twirled the flower pattern on the bed sheet.
