Chapter 190 Escape and Ascension 2

Xu Zhuohua thought of the modern history she knew by heart and silently shook her head. "These past twenty years have been dark every day. You can't see your hand in front of your face. No one can see the road ahead, and no one can escape."

A faint light shone in Cheng Muyun's eyes, and his resolve grew stronger. Xu Zhuohua's appearance meant that they were bound to succeed.

“I originally only wanted to be an observer or a recorder, but later I realized that everyone was suffering too much. The slim possibility of victory was constantly eroding people’s determination. I knew that I couldn’t watch anymore. Without me, it might really not succeed.”

Xu Zhuohua became more and more excited as she spoke, and in the end her whole body was trembling. Cheng Muyun reached out and hugged her shoulders, comforting her, "It's okay, it's okay, we will definitely succeed."

Under the moonlight of the water chestnuts, two figures embraced tightly. They were so small that they could be swallowed up by the tiny whirlpool of the times, but they were also so resilient that they could withstand the raging storm.

Xu Zhuohua raised her head, her eyes fixed on Cheng Muyun's lips.

His lips were meticulously drawn, sharp and distinct, with a full lower lip that had an unconscious softness. When he pursed his lips, they formed a cold, hard curve, but when he smiled, they curved into gentle creases, like moonlight falling on thin ice, clear and soft.

The breeze under the eaves carried the sweet scent of tuberose, and Chen Hede's shadow, stretched long by the eaves lamp, fell at Xu Zhuohua's feet.

As he leaned slightly forward, wisps of hair fell across her forehead, brushing against her brow bone. The curve of his lips resembled a crescent moon dipped in honey, and even his voice carried a trembling tenderness: "Want a kiss?"

Xu Zhuohua felt her heart pounding so hard it was about to burst her throat. Her eyes were fixed on his lips, which were so close to hers. The pale pink lips shone softly in the warm yellow light. She nodded almost instinctively, and only then did she realize that her eyelashes were still trembling slightly.

The next second, Cheng Muyun's aura completely enveloped them.

His kiss was gentler than she had imagined. He first tentatively touched the corner of her lips, like a butterfly alighting on a petal, with a touch of cautious warmth.

Xu Zhuohua's breath hitched, but the soft touch on his lips became clearer. He seemed to be smiling, and the vibrations in his chest transmitted through their pressed skin, deepening the kiss.

It was no longer a fleeting, light touch, but a restrained tenderness. As they lingered and rubbed against each other, even the evening breeze became sticky and cuddly, carrying their intertwined breaths and spreading sweetness in circles under the quiet corridor.
