Chapter 193 Escape and Ascension 5

After reading it, Cheng Muyun folded the letter back and put it back in the envelope, a cold smile curving his lips.

As expected, Lan Qingyi had no good intentions whatsoever; he was merely brewing an even more despicable plan.

He knew that this person's "concession" and "persuasion" were all fake.

Cheng Muyun held the secret letter between his fingers, his fingertips tracing the rough pages, a growing chill in his eyes. He looked up at Zhang Qi, his voice devoid of emotion: "Lan Qingyi requests additional manpower. How many are you aiming for?"

Zhang Qi immediately replied, "Judging from the wording of the secret letter, he seems to want to mobilize the forces of three divisions in the surrounding area, and also mentioned borrowing a batch of new equipment. It seems that he intends to win a quick battle."

"A quick victory?" Cheng Muyun chuckled, a hint of mockery in his voice. "He really thinks too highly of himself."

He tossed the secret letter onto the table, stood up, and walked to the window. The sunlight outside was perfect, shining on the training ground of the Dongzhou military camp, and the shouts of the soldiers could be faintly heard, revealing a fearless spirit.

"Pass down the order," Cheng Muyun's voice suddenly turned stern, "The entire army is on high alert. All battalion commanders must immediately assemble in the council hall."

"Yes!" Zhang Qi replied in a deep voice, then turned to leave.

“Wait,” Cheng Muyun called out to him, “Go and invite Chen Hede and Xu Jixin, and tell them that we’re having a small gathering at the station tonight.”

A sharp glint flashed in Zhang Qi's eyes: "Understood, subordinate."

After Zhang Qi left, Cheng Muyun looked at the secret letter on the table again, his eyes as cold as knives.

Lan Qingyi's idea that delaying tactics would lower his guard and that gathering troops would allow him to take down the Dongzhou army in one fell swoop is far too naive.

Cheng Muyun's ability to establish himself in Dongzhou and to make the Dongzhou Army a force that the government feared was never due to luck, but rather to his solid strength and ruthless methods.

If Lan Qingyi wanted to play, he would play along.

This time, however, he will make Lan Qingyi understand what it means to dig your own grave.

Cheng Muyun straightened his clothes and strode towards the council hall.

It seems a tough battle is unavoidable.
