Xu Zhuohua raised her head, and their eyes met. Chen Hede still had that cold look on his face, staring at Xu Zhuohua as if waiting for her to lose her composure.
"Oh, really?" Xu Zhuohua replied indifferently.
The man continued, "If I remember correctly, Miss Xu is Dr. Lin's student, right?"
"Yes." Xu Zhuohua decided to stop running away and stared straight into Chen Hede's eyes.
"Isn't Miss Xu curious? Who wanted to kill Dr. Lin?"
Xu Zhuohua raised an eyebrow, "If I ask you, will you reveal it?"
The man curled his lips into a smile. "Try asking."
Who is it?
"One of our own."
Xu Zhuohua asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that the people who wanted to kill Dr. Lin were not foreigners, but fellow countrymen."
This is obvious; Lin Shuwen is targeting corrupt officials, not foreigners.
Xu Zhuohua was speechless and rolled her eyes.
Chen Hede smiled slightly. "Shouldn't Miss Xu thank me? I saved your teacher."
Xu Zhuohua smiled for no reason. "Thank you, Deputy Director Chen, for protecting my teacher, Dr. Lin. You are such a good person."
Chen Hede said, "Although you spoke through gritted teeth, I will still accept Miss Xu's thanks. Consider it a favor you owe me."
Is he some kind of favor collector? Does he really enjoy making others owe him favors?
"Wait a minute!" Xu Zhuohua raised her hand to refuse. "It's not like I asked you to go save people. It has nothing to do with me."

The car drove away, and Xu Zhuohua and Xinghua stood there, stunned.
Xinghua asked, "Miss, who is he?"
"Chen Hede, Deputy Chief of Police of the French Concession."
"Wow, Miss, you actually know such an important person, and he seems to be interested in you."
