Chapter 96 Luo Yunqiao Takes Care of Cheng Muyun

She was only twenty-six years old.

Gray hairs had already started to grow at his temples.

These days, Cheng Muyun has been leaving early and returning late. Apart from crying uncontrollably on a rainy night, he has not shown any emotion.

Occasionally, when Xu Zhuohua wakes up at night, she finds a tired man holding her waist, his head buried in her neck, fast asleep.

If Xu Zhuohua hadn't specifically asked him, he seemed never to have talked about his troubles.

As a married couple, Xu Zhuohua has always been the one who has been well protected.

Cheng Muyun shielded him from many storms with his broad shoulders.

Even though this era is not peaceful and is full of crises, Xu Zhuohua suddenly feels a sense of peace and tranquility.

Her hand slid down the man's hair to his ear, cheek, chin, and stopped on his neck.

Cheng Muyun tilted his head, resting his warm cheek against Xu Zhuohua's hand, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

It felt like I was having a wonderful dream.

Xu Zhuohua slowly lay down on her side next to the man, gazing at him with affectionate eyes.

After not seeing him for many days, she resisted the urge to kiss him, hoping to let him sleep more peacefully.

Lifting the blanket, Xu Zhuohua discovered there was another layer of cashmere blanket inside. It was very thin, but comfortable and breathable, and could maintain Cheng Muyun's body temperature even if he slept restlessly at night.

His hand was placed obediently on his stomach. His pajamas were a style Xu Zhuohua had never seen before. She reached out and touched them; they were still made of cashmere.

However, such fine stitches seem to be something foreigners use.

Xu Zhuohua leaned over Cheng Muyun's chest and smelled it, and surprisingly, she could smell a faint calming fragrance.

It's very faint.

She turned her head to look at the furnishings inside the room.

There was a plate of candied fruit and a handkerchief on the table, probably for taking medicine.

The doors and windows were sealed with oil paper, but near the wall, the topmost small window was open, partially covered by a thick velvet cloth.

The patient's room should be well-ventilated at all times, but small windows should not be opened, as drafts can be harmful. Either keep the windows closed or open them fully.

I never expected Zhang Qi to have such a delicate mind.

A rough, unrefined man who had spent years in the military was able to take better care of Cheng Muyun than she had ever done.

Xu Zhuohua felt somewhat inferior to him.

Xu Zhuohua crawled into the quilt, then gently covered herself with it, and lay quietly with Cheng Muyun in her arms.

She had been traveling for three days and two nights straight, and she was worried about Cheng Muyun, so she hadn't slept well at all.

Listening to Cheng Muyun's steady breathing, Xu Zhuohua fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Xu Zhuohua heard voices outside. She turned over and felt something was wrong with the sensation on the west side of her neck.

He opened his eyes and met Cheng Muyun's deep eyes.

His smile was warm.

Xu Zhuohua felt like she was about to drown in his eyes.

Imagine waking up in the morning to find yourself in the arms of an incredibly handsome man, smiling at you, and you're absolutely certain that he loves you.

Xu Zhuohua felt that she was the happiest person in the world.

Unable to resist, Xu Zhuohua looked up and kissed Cheng Muyun.

"I let you win the bet, are you happy?"

Cheng Muyun's smile deepened. He lowered his head and kissed her cheek, saying, "I was even happier to find you lying next to me after I woke up."

Xu Zhuohua shyly snuggled into Cheng Muyun's arms, only to find that her clothes had been taken off at some point.

I don't even know when she changed her pajamas.

"Will you change my clothes?"

Cheng Muyun hugged the soft body, "Who else could it be but me? You were tired in your clothes at night, making noises and waking me up."

Xu Zhuohua blushed. She had come to take care of the patient, but she had woken him up instead.

"I'm sorry," Xu Zhuohua said in a muffled voice as she snuggled into Cheng Muyun's arms, "I wasn't there for you when you were injured."

"If you were by my side when I was injured, you would be worried sick, and if you cried, it would break my heart."

Xu Zhuohua chuckled, "Who do you think you are? I certainly won't cry."

Cheng Muyun hugged the woman he loved, his voice slow and firm: "Yes, I know you won't cry."

As the two were cuddling together, the door suddenly opened, and a delicate hand lifted the cotton curtain.

A sweet voice came from inside, "Brother Muyun, are you feeling better? I've prepared the medicine for this morning."

Xu Zhuohua turned her head in confusion, and the person holding the medicine at the door was none other than Luo Yunqiao.

? ?

How did she end up here?

Xu Zhuohua looked at Cheng Muyun and saw that he seemed somewhat at a loss.

No wonder Cheng Muyun was taken such good care of; it wasn't Zhang Qi's doing, but rather the thoughtful woman by his side.

Xu Zhuohua suddenly felt very angry. In the past three days, she had taken all kinds of transportation, lost her appetite, and couldn't sleep at night, all because she was worried about Cheng Muyun.

Who knew he had a beauty in his arms? No wonder he didn't want her to come along.

Heaven knows if Luo Yunqiao was following Cheng Muyun the whole time.

When a man is in the most pain, injured and sick, if he has a caring and beautiful woman to take care of him, he would be so happy that he would never want to leave.

Luo Yunqiao was not surprised at all to see Xu Zhuohua there.

"Miss Xu has arrived? You must be tired from your journey. But Brother Mu Yun's injuries have almost healed by now."

Xu Zhuohua almost laughed in anger upon hearing this. What did Luo Yunqiao mean by this?

Was he trying to take credit? Or was he annoyed that she was late?

Xu Zhuohua looked into Cheng Muyun's eyes, her displeasure written all over her face.

Cheng Muyun rubbed his forehead. "Put the medicine on the table first, Yunqiao, you can go out now."

Luo Yunqiao acted as if she were Cheng Muyun's wife, saying naturally, "You can't drink the medicine if it gets cold. Brother Muyun, let me help you up."
