At first, her determination was not firm enough, but everything was forcing her to follow the same path as Xu Zhuohua.
Cheng Muyun's elder brother died in a political struggle, and because he was French, there was nothing he could do.
Cheng Wenyun died because of the feudal system and feudal ideology, and there was nothing he could do about it.
If he still doesn't wake up, then he is truly beyond redemption.
He doesn't want such a tragedy to happen again.
So even if it costs us our lives, we must save this dying country.
Xu Zhuohua trembled all over. Only now did she realize that she had influenced Cheng Muyun.
If Cheng Muyun were truly a smug local tyrant, he wouldn't have provoked the Japanese, nor would he have offended the Si and Ke families. He wouldn't have been scorned, his wife wouldn't have died, and he wouldn't have gone mad.
She originally intended to record Cheng Muyun's life as an observer, but fate pushed her into it.
Fate's arrangement was not to give her a second chance, but to use her to make Cheng Muyun do things he would never have done otherwise.
Is this fate?
This damn fate!
"But if you do this, your reputation will be ruined, what if..."
Cheng Muyun slammed on the brakes, and the inertia caused Xu Zhuohua to slam against the back of the car from behind.
Cheng Muyun took a deep breath and said as calmly as possible, "Since it was my wife who died, as long as we separate, I can remarry, and then you will be safe."
Xu Zhuohua's mind exploded. She thought of all the scenes of Cheng Muyun and Luo Yunqiao together these past few days, and her face changed from shock to fear.
"You want Miss Luo to be a scapegoat?"
Cheng Muyun said, "You are really smart, Zhuohua. I don't want to tell you, but I don't want to lie to you either. That is indeed what I plan to do."
Xu Zhuohua felt as if her heart was suddenly grabbed and squeezed hard, causing it to explode.
Even if she didn't want to die, she felt there were other ways, but that way was definitely not to find a scapegoat.
Cheng Muyun believed Xu Zhuohua's words, so when he had to take any measures, the first person he thought of was Luo Yunqiao.
Luo Yunqiao was in love with Cheng Muyun, and winning her over would be incredibly easy. All Cheng Muyun had to do was act like she liked Luo Yunqiao a lot and distance herself from Xu Zhuohua.
That way, Xu Zhuohua can be protected from harm.
Cheng Muyun didn't care at all whether Luo Yunqiao lived or died.
Xu Zhuohua knew she shouldn't be angry, after all, it was Cheng Muyun's choice to protect her, but she didn't want to be a bad person.
"No! No! Absolutely not! I disagree!"
Cheng Muyun turned around and grabbed Xu Zhuohua's hand. "Zhuohua, believe me. I would give anything to protect you. Even if nothing has happened yet, this is the only thing I can do to prepare for the future. But you are the only one in my heart."
Such a sincere confession should have moved Xu Zhuohua to tears.
She also felt she should protect Cheng Muyun and was deeply grateful for his planning.
But isn't Luo Yunqiao's life also a life?
They keep saying they want to protect this country, but they still don't value human life and even send people to their deaths.
Xu Zhuohua broke free from Cheng Muyun's hand and said coldly, "Cheng Muyun, I misjudged you. You're still a ruthless killer. You're a murderer. I must have been blind to have fallen for you!"
After saying that, Xu Zhuohua opened the car door, got out of the car, and turned to walk towards the back.
Cheng Muyun was stunned for a moment, then immediately got out of the car and slammed the door shut.
"Xu Zhuohua!" he shouted at the thin figure. "You should leave. That suits me perfectly. Tell everyone that we have separated. After my grandfather's funeral, I will marry Luo Yunqiao."
Xu Zhuohua stopped in her tracks, standing in the boundless darkness. The cold wind kept blowing, and she felt unsteady on her feet. She turned around stiffly and looked at Cheng Muyun with disappointment.
"Alright! Do it! I wish you and Luo Yunqiao a long and happy marriage!"
Xu Zhuohua clenched her fists and turned to leave.
Cheng Muyun rushed forward and hugged Xu Zhuohua, causing Xu Zhuohua to stumble.
The man held Xu Zhuohua tightly, his voice trembling, "No, Zhuohua, don't leave me, I can't live without you."
His voice was tinged with sobs, and Xu Zhuohua felt a lump in her throat, sighing repeatedly.
She turned around, took Cheng Muyun's hand, and looked at his eyes, which reflected her own face.
"Cheng Muyun, please don't provoke Luo Yunqiao, okay? Let's think of other ways. We still have a long time, and we can still do a lot of things."
Cheng Muyun's eyelashes trembled violently, and a hot tear hit her cheekbone first. The winding water trail, like a trembling silver snake, fell rapidly down the curve of her jawline.
Then the second and third drops connected to form a broken string of beads.
Xu Zhuohua reached out and caught his hot tears. Her nose stung, and her vision blurred with tears.
“Cheng Muyun, what I’m saying may not be right. You and I both know that no one can predict the future. It’s hard to say whether Bodhisattvas even exist. How about we be staunch materialists?”
Xu Zhuohua's tears then streamed down her face.
Having already transmigrated and been reborn, Xu Zhuohua herself is unsure whether she is still an atheist.
What she said was just to deceive Cheng Muyun.
However, Xu Zhuohua forgot the most important point, which was that Cheng Muyun had the ability to read faces and understand subtle details.
Her eyes betrayed her true thoughts.
Cheng Muyun's expression changed, from aggrieved to disappointed. He asked in a desperate tone, "Zhuohua, are you lying to me?"
Xu Zhuohua's breath hitched, and Cheng Muyun quickly caught her reaction. He said desperately, "You can't do anything about it either, can you?"
