Chapter 28 A Big Seller

One jin is sixteen liang, and today we brought twenty jin, which is 160 portions.

When the aunt heard that it cost six coins for a serving, and only weighed two ounces, while a pound of meat only cost twenty coins, she thought it was much more expensive than meat and not worth it at all.

But then she thought about it again, and realized that peppers were much more expensive than meat these days, so charging six coins was reasonable. In fact, she made a profit.

After struggling with the decision for a long time, the woman finally couldn't resist and bought one.

"Auntie, the two ounces are ready, that's a full two ounces."

The first order was a great success, and Shen Danru even added half a spoonful for the aunt.

The woman pulled out six coins as if cutting off a piece of her own flesh and handed them to Shen Danru. She then picked up the oil paper bag containing the konjac snacks, carefully placed it in the basket, and left.

After the first serving was sold, people passing by would ask a few questions, because they couldn't resist trying it since it was free.

Some people love spicy food but are reluctant to buy chili peppers. When they see that this konjac dessert is made with chili peppers, and hear that it only costs six dollars and is delicious, they will buy one or two servings.

"Congratulations, host, on completing the mission. Rewards: 20 experience points, 100 points, and a serving of stir-fry seasoning."

The system task is complete; fifty copies have been sold, and three hundred coins are in my pocket.

At this point, you have 160 experience points and 744 points.

"Second sister, we're going to become rich! This stuff really can be sold for money."

Shen Danru looked at her excited younger brother with a smile in her eyes: "Of course this can be sold for money. After we sell them all, your second sister will take you to eat something delicious and buy you some writing brushes, ink, paper and inkstones."

By noon, only seventy-odd portions had been sold, and the ten-pound portion was still not sold out, with a lot left over.

Seeing that there were fewer and fewer people in the market, and almost no one at all, Chen Danru said, "Yu Yan, you must be starving. Let's pack up and stop selling."

"Second sister, what should we do with the rest?"

"We'll talk about the rest of the afternoon; let's fill our stomachs first."

The two packed up, carried their baskets, and found a noodle shop. The shop was almost full of customers, and they thought it must be a good place.

This is the one.

Two bowls of plain noodles were served. Shen Yuyan, perhaps hungry, wolfed them down, while Shen Danru took a bite but couldn't eat anymore.

It's far inferior to what I made myself.

She ladled out a plate of the leftover konjac dessert she had prepared and placed it on the table as a side dish, which made Shen Yuyan eat even more heartily.

"Second Sister's cooking is still the best." Shen Yuyan ate a few slices of konjac dessert, looking very satisfied, and couldn't help but praise her.

"Of course."

Seeing Shen Yuyan eating so heartily, Shen Danru looked completely satisfied.

"Mom, I want to eat that too."

A young child sitting next to a couple in the shop saw Shen Yuyan eating with great relish, smacked his lips twice, and couldn't help but call out to his mother.

"Baby, that's spicy, you can't eat it."

"No, I want to eat it! Mother is bad, Mother is bad!"

The child couldn't help but rub his eyes and pretend to cry. As long as he cried, his mother would definitely buy it for him.

His mother really loves this kind of thing.

The woman had given birth to five daughters in a row, and finally had a son. She cherished him dearly. Although the family was not wealthy, she gave her son whatever he wanted and never let him cry.

"If Bao'er likes it, just buy it. Why are you dawdling like this?"

The man couldn't help but rebuke.

"Okay, okay, don't cry, baby, Mommy will buy it for you right away." The woman turned around and called to the waiter.

The waiter was busy at work when he heard someone calling. He wiped his hands with the handkerchief draped around his neck and jogged over: "Madam, what can I do for you?"

The woman pointed to the plate of konjac dessert on Shen Danru's table and said, "Give us a plate of that dish too. What is that dish? We don't know its name."

The waiter looked in the direction the woman pointed and saw a girl and a little boy eating with relish. Besides the two bowls of noodles that had just been served, there was also a plate of some food on their table that didn't look like it was from their shop.

Since there is no rule against bringing food out of the store and eating inside is not allowed, customers are free to choose what they eat.

"Sister-in-law, those two didn't buy their dishes from our shop. If you want to eat them, you can ask them."

After the waiter finished speaking, he saw a customer coming in and hurried off to greet him.

"Ah~, not from their shop." The woman licked her lips and said, "Honey, you watch over Bao'er, I'll go ask them where they bought it."

With some side dishes to accompany the rice, Shen Danru found the noodles much more delicious, and her empty stomach felt much more comfortable.

Shen Yuyan choked a little while eating too fast. Shen Danru patted his back to help him catch his breath and said, "You brat, eat slowly. No one will take it from you. If you're not full after one bowl, your second sister will buy you another."

"No, no... no need, it's... cough cough... Second Sister's konjac dessert is so delicious."

Shen Yuyan coughed for a while before finally catching her breath.

"Excuse me, miss, where did you buy this plate of vegetables?"

Shen Danru looked up and saw a woman standing in front of him. Although she looked ordinary, she had a kind face and was wearing the most ordinary coarse cloth clothes. Fortunately, they were very clean and had no patches. She was clearly a capable and thrifty traditional woman.

Shen Danru put down her chopsticks and said, "Auntie, this is what we sell ourselves. It costs six coins for two ounces. You can try it first, and buy it if you like it."

Seeing that the woman was interested, Shen Danru, as before, took out a plate from his basket, put two pieces in it, and handed it to the woman.

"It's delicious, really delicious. But it's too spicy, it's not suitable for children, what a pity."

"Auntie, you can make it non-spicy if you need it."

"Alright, alright, then I'll trouble you, young lady."

"No trouble at all. You can take the plate and eat there. Just bring it back to us when you're done."

The woman thanked him repeatedly, handed Shen Danru six coins, and returned to her seat with the plate.

Other customers couldn't help but come over and ask if there were any left, as they wanted to buy some to try.

Shen Danru didn't even have time to eat anymore. She prepared some mild and medium spicy versions, and sold more than a dozen servings in no time.

There were no extra plates, so we had to use oil paper bags to serve them.

Soon, shouts of "Delicious!" filled the restaurant.

The shopkeeper had seen everything that was happening here.

Shen Yuyan was not affected at all. By the time Shen Danru finished her work, he had already finished a bowl of noodles.

He patted his stomach, feeling a little hungry, but he couldn't spend his second sister's money anymore. His second sister still needed to save money to buy him writing brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones.

Shen Danru saw through his little scheme at a glance, smiled slightly, and called over the waiter.

She knew that Shen Yuyan had never been well-fed in the Shen family since she was a child, and that she looked much smaller than other children her age.

This is not something that can be raised in a short time.

Now that she's back, thankfully with the system around, it's not difficult for my younger brother to get enough to eat.

"Bring them two more bowls of noodles, and put this meal on my tab."

Shen Danru looked up and saw a man in his forties wearing a long robe walking towards them.
