Chapter 250: Waiting

Chapter 250: Waiting

The mule cart entered the village and headed straight towards home.

Xu Wencheng had sharp eyes and saw it from a distance. He came outside the yard and waved in the direction of the mule cart.

"Sister-in-law is back!"

Jiang, who was about to cook, ran out of the yard with a basin in her hand. When she saw Song Yuntang sticking his head out of the mule cart, she smiled and said, "I thought you were delayed by something in the county town and was wondering whether to cook your meal."

Song Yuntang jumped off the mule cart. Thinking that Song Jinsheng and Mu Dong had to deliver goods early the next morning, he asked Tu Shi to drive the mule cart back to the farm first.

"Mom, is everything okay at home these days?"

"It's fine." Jiang smiled and pulled her into the yard. "Has everything been arranged in Qingye?"

Song Yuntang nodded, "Everything has been arranged. I have prepared everything for him, including food, clothing, and commonly used medicines. I have also asked the aunt next door who used to help cook in the restaurant to prepare lunch and dinner for him. He only needs to focus on his studies."

Jiang patted Song Yuntang's hand with satisfaction.

"Thank you for your hard work, kid."

Xu Wencheng came to Song Yuntang carrying a backpack as if he was presenting a treasure.

"Sister-in-law, these are the herbs I found in the mountains based on the painting you gave me a few days ago. Can you take a look at them?"

Song Yuntang looked into the backpack and said with a smile, "Yes, this is the Mandragora flower. Thank you, Wencheng."

With this flower, you can make Ma Fei San.

Xu Wencheng scratched his head embarrassedly.

"Why are you thanking me? My sister-in-law is being distant with me, isn't she?"

Then he said, "Sister-in-law, the stitches on Hu'er's forehead have not been removed yet. I am a little hesitant to do it. Can you go and take a look at him after dinner?"

After hearing this, Song Yuntang thought that it would not take long to remove the stitches. The wound on Hu'er's forehead had been there for eight days and it was time to remove it, so he looked towards the kitchen.

"Mom, I'm going to my uncle's house and will be back soon."

Jiang in the kitchen responded.

"Go early and come back early. Mom will make braised rabbit meat for you today."

Song Yuntang's eyes sparkled.

"Did anyone catch the rabbit?"

"Your father was lucky. The rabbit bumped into his feet and he brought it back. It was quite fat." Jiang said while busying herself. "We originally wanted to take it to the town to sell it, but your father said that the rabbit was dead and couldn't be sold at a high price, so we might as well eat it ourselves. Previously, your eldest cousin killed a wild boar and gave us a few pounds of it. After killing the rabbit, we kept half of it and gave the other half to your uncle and grandparents."

Song Yuntang nodded and looked into the room.

"Is Dad not home?"

Jiang smiled helplessly and said, "I'm afraid he went to your uncle Gousheng's house again. Your father has been keen on comparing himself with others these days and has been away from home all day."

"Comparing what?" Song Yuntang was puzzled.

Jiang laughed loudly, "It's about who has a better daughter-in-law."

"What's the point of comparing this?" Song Yuntang carried the medicine box a little embarrassedly, "Mom, I'll go to my uncle's house first."

"Hey, go ahead."

Xu Wencheng stepped forward and took the medicine box from Song Yuntang.

"Sister-in-law, I'll go with you and help you carry the medicine box."

Someone was willing to help carry the medicine box, and Song Yuntang didn't object.

The two men arrived at their uncle's house, and Tiger, who was playing in the yard, ran out.

"Aunt, little uncle."

Zhang and He, who were busy in the kitchen, heard the noise and hurried to the yard.

"Tang'er and Wencheng are here."

Song Yuntang looked at the two of them with a smile.

"Aunt, sister-in-law, let me remove Hu'er's stitches."

Zhang hurried forward.

"Hey, thank you for making another trip. When Wencheng came yesterday, that brat Huer refused to let him take it down, and insisted on waiting for his aunt to come back." As she spoke, she waved in Huer's direction, "Huer, your aunt is back. Now there's no reason to make a fuss, right?"

Hu Er stood in front of Song Yun Tang, raised a finger, and said seriously, "Aunt, you must be gentle."

Looking at the child's cautious appearance, Song Yuntang couldn't help but curl the corners of his lips.

"Okay, Auntie promised Hu'er."

After getting the assurance, Hu'er turned his back to Zhang and leaned in her arms, closing his eyes tightly, his little face almost wrinkled.

Seeing Hu'er cooperating so well, Song Yuntang hurriedly opened the medicine box, took out a pair of scissors and tweezers, quickly disinfected them with white wine, and then began to remove Hu'er's stitches.

The silk thread was thin and the suture was not too deep. She first disinfected the wound area, then cut the suture thread with scissors and took it out with tweezers.

Her hands were steady and she removed the stitches quickly.

Before Hu'er even had time to cry out in pain, the stitches on his head had already been removed.

"alright."

Tiger opened his eyes and blinked in surprise.

"It really doesn't hurt."

He raised his hand to touch his forehead, but was stopped by Song Yuntang. She took out a candy from the medicine box and put it into Huer's mouth.

"You've just removed the stitches, so it's best not to touch it with your hands. You have to keep it clean for the next few days." He then took out a box of scar removal cream from the medicine box and handed it to He. "This is scar removal cream. Use it every morning and evening after washing your face. After using this box, the scar on your forehead should be gone."

He took the scar-removing cream and nodded repeatedly.

"Thank you, brother and sister."

"You're too polite, sister-in-law." Song Yuntang closed the lid of the medicine box. "Since Hu'er's stitches have been removed, I'm going home now. Mother is still waiting for us to eat at home."

Xu Wencheng immediately brought forward the medicine box.

"Aunt, cousin, let's go."

Zhang escorted the two out of the yard and said, "Look at you guys. You come to my aunt's house at this time and leave without even having a meal."

Looking back at her hesitant expression, Song Yuntang said with a smile, "Don't worry, Auntie, Liangping is doing well in town. I have arranged for his food and accommodation. He learns quickly, and I hope he can get started sooner, so I can let him be in charge of a shop."

Zhang was so happy when she heard this.

"Ryohei is able to succeed, thanks to Tang'er."

The uncle and his wife were walking towards home, and from a distance they saw Xu Yongwang standing on tiptoe at the gate of the courtyard looking at them.

When he saw the two figures, he coughed lightly, and his expectant eyes quickly returned to calm. He pretended to be reserved and said, "Your mother asked me to see if you guys are back. The food will be ready soon."

Xu Wencheng had a look of seeing through everything but not saying anything.

"Dad, my eldest brother taught me a word before, but I never understood its essence. When I saw you just now, I suddenly realized it."

Xu Yongwang raised his eyebrows.

"What word?"

"The word is, eagerly waiting." After saying that, he laughed and slipped into the yard. He put the medicine box on the table and ran to the kitchen to help Jiang.

Xu Yongwang came to his senses, turned around and walked towards the kitchen.

"You little bastard, how dare you make fun of me! I'll beat your ass."

Xu Wencheng smiled and asked for help.

"Mom, save me."

Jiang's voice was heard from the kitchen immediately afterwards.

"Alright, alright, you're already quite old, but you're still acting like a kid. If this gets out, will you still have shame?"
