The harvested soybeans were transported to the village drying yard. If the weather was good, they could be threshed after about three days of drying. After Zhao Shiyun had his meal and washed up briefly, he filled a bamboo tube with water, took a cattail leaf fan, and prepared to go to the drying yard to check on the soybeans.
To prevent anyone from stealing the soybeans, every household had someone watching over the drying yard. Even when harvesting rice, everyone chatted together, which wasn't boring. There were a lot of mosquitoes, but some people used moxa sticks, and Lin Yan gave Zhao Shiyun one too, just in case.
The moonlight sprinkled on the road, making it possible to see the road clearly. After walking for about half a minute, Zhao Shiyun arrived at the drying yard. Several families were there, each guarding their own soybeans and chatting about family matters from time to time.
The yard at home couldn't hold so many soybeans, otherwise there would be no need to transport them to the drying yard. Zhao Shiyun was tired during the day and was very sleepy. He yawned and supported his chin, feeling drowsy.

The next day, Zhao Shiyun came back at dawn. Everyone in the family was up. Lin Yan cooked pumpkin porridge with dried radish. Afraid that they would not be full, he also fried some leeks and eggs.
"Brother Shiyun, eat more, go back to bed and take a nap, and go out later." Lin Yan picked up an egg with chopsticks and put it into Zhao Shiyun's bowl, and reminded him.
Zhao Shiyun was indeed sleepy. He hadn't slept well outside last night. He nodded and said, "Then I'll take a nap for half an hour. You can wake me up then."
"Yeah, got it."
Li Yuemei, Zhao Qiming and Yu Ge'er had gone out to the fields, and the soybeans still had to be harvested for a day. Seeing Zhao Shiyun return to his room, Lin Yan quietly started to work. He washed the dishes, fed the livestock, washed the clothes and hung them out to dry. When he saw that it was almost time, he went to wake Zhao Shiyun up.
Zhao Shiyun woke up in a daze. He rubbed his face hard with his hands, but did not stay in bed. He got up, washed his face with cold water, put on his hat and prepared to go out.
Before leaving, Lin Yan called him, "Brother Shi Yun, I'll go to town to buy some meat and be back soon."
Zhao Shiyun frowned. It was a pity that there was no meat seller in the village. Since it was too close to the town, it was not worth selling meat in the village. "Why don't you just not go? It's too hot out there. Besides, it's okay if you don't eat meat."
"That won't do. You guys work so hard, you won't have the energy to eat meat. Don't worry, I won't be long, I'll be back after I finish shopping."
Zhao Shiyun reluctantly agreed, "Then you should wear a hat and stay out of the sun."

Lin Yan walked for a quarter of an hour and arrived at the town. He chose to walk under the shade of trees along the way, so he didn't feel very hot. He went directly to North Street and planned to buy a fish.
There were no other tofu vendors in town, so Lin Yan had originally wanted to make tofu fish head soup, but couldn't. He bought a sea bass and planned to steam it. The fishmonger actually had conch for sale, a rare find since they weren't near the sea. He wondered if they raised them themselves. Lin Yan had the good fortune to eat conch once as a child. Back then, his father was still around, and he took him to the beach, where they had a lot of delicious seafood. He still couldn't get enough.
Lin Yan asked the fishmonger to weigh a pound of snails, paid the money, put the fish and snails into his backpack, and strolled around to see what else he could buy. When he passed by Zhou Wanan's shop, he saw the chicken wings on his chopping board. He suddenly had an idea for a new food and quickly bought a few chicken wings.
He went to the butcher's shop and bought two spare ribs, asked the butcher to help chop them into small pieces, and then went to the grocery store to buy fermented black beans. Then Lin Yan planned to go home.
It was almost noon when he got home, so Lin Yan quickly took out the ribs and cleaned them. He planned to make steamed ribs with black bean sauce.
Lin Yan placed the cleaned ribs in a basin and added white wine, soy sauce, salt, and sugar, carefully mixing them together and marinating them. Next, he chopped the fermented black beans and garlic and added them to the pan, frying them until fragrant. The rich aroma instantly filled the kitchen.
Place a layer of pumpkin on the plate, then place the ribs on it. Pour the fried fermented black beans and minced garlic evenly on the marinated ribs, then you can steam them.
There was still plenty of porridge left from the morning, so Lin Yan jarred it and put it in a basket, waiting for the spareribs to cook. Fearing it wouldn't be enough, he quickly grabbed five eggs and threw them into the pot to cook together. By the time the spareribs were cooked, the eggs should be ready.
After about a quarter of an hour, the aroma of the spareribs came out. Lin Yan waited for another half a quarter of an hour before turning off the fire and opening the lid. The spareribs steamed in black bean sauce were bright red in color and had a fragrant aroma.
It was too hot, so Lin Yan simply took a big bowl from the pot and put the ribs and pumpkin in it. He kept a few pieces for himself and planned to take the rest to them.
He put the bowl into the basket and four eggs in it. Just as he finished, Yu Ge'er came back, sweating profusely. Lin Yan quickly poured him a cup of sour plum soup. The family would make drinks at night these past two days and bring them to the fields. Last night they made sour plum soup.
"Do you have any more drinks?"
"Also, you don't need to bring it over today. Look, I haven't even brought back the jar."
"Okay, the dish is still hot, take it quickly. It's a bit heavy, so be careful." Lin Yan felt it was a bit heavy even when he lifted it, so he reminded Yu Ge'er.
"I know, Brother, I'm leaving now. You should eat quickly too."
"Oh, I see."
