Chapter 26 Earning a Month's Worth of Money in One Day

The man was surprised to find that he could choose the flavor, especially the chili oil, which was so expensive that he couldn't bear to buy it himself.

He immediately said, "It's spicy!"

Cheng Yue deftly scooped a small spoonful of chili oil onto the plate. "This is eight coins. Enjoy your meal."

The man counted out eight coins, put them on the table, and eagerly took his bowl of noodles and found the nearest seat to sit down.

He could already smell the aroma; this bowl of noodles couldn't be bad!

The man took a bite and his eyes widened in surprise. The taste and aroma were too strong!

The offal didn't taste strange at all; on the contrary, it was quite flavorful.

And these noodles are dark and obviously sweet potato noodles, but they're incredibly chewy, a texture he's never tasted before.

"Girl! Your he luo noodles are so delicious! The flavor is so strong, just one bite and I feel so energized. It's totally worth it!"

The man couldn't help but shout loudly, and then continued to slurp down the noodles, completely lacking in table manners.

Upon hearing this, the surrounding crowd could no longer contain themselves and rushed forward to shout.

They could see it; it was a huge bowl full, with a whole spoonful of meat.

"Cook me a bowl!"

"Me too! I want some too!"

"I want my bowl with chili and vinegar, I want it all!"

"..."

Cheng Yue had everyone line up, her hands constantly pressing dough while she collected the money.

Chen Lin was scooping noodles from the pot, while Chen Tong and Chen Ning helped pass bowls, collect them, and wash them. The three little faces were full of joy; they never imagined the business would be so booming.

However, the food my mother makes is just that delicious, so it's no wonder it sells well.

The group worked efficiently and methodically, and in less than half an hour, only a lump of noodles remained.

Cheng Yue had already promised to treat the lady next door to a bowl of food, so she wouldn't sell any more. She also said that she had prepared less for the first day and would increase the quantity tomorrow.

The men who didn't get any food were initially quite annoyed, but when they heard Cheng Yue say that the quantity would be increased tomorrow, no one complained anymore, and they could only go to the stalls next door to eat something.

Why were they late? They're just doing business; how much they prepare is their own business.

The business was so booming that the vendors at the nearby stalls were extremely envious.

Of course, there were also those who were jealous and resentful, secretly glaring at them, but daring not to cause trouble.

If Master Chen finds out, the consequences will be severe.

Cheng Yue cooked two bowls and brought them to the next room. "Big sister, this is the portion I saved for you. Please try it."

The eldest sister's husband was busy on the side, just smiling and never saying a word. However, Cheng Yue didn't ask any questions, since it had nothing to do with her anyway.

"Oh my, if business is good, you'd keep it to sell, but why did you actually send it over? And two bowls at that?"

Cheng Yue's business was so good that the eldest sister thought she had sold out, but unexpectedly, she specially saved two bowls for them, which made her feel a little embarrassed.

He quickly picked up the last dozen or so buns from the steamer and handed them to Cheng Yue:

"Hey girl, take this bun. It's definitely not as good as your noodles, but just eat it to fill your stomach. Don't mind it."

There were only a few wontons left, and only these steamed buns. I figured Cheng Yue would pack up and go home after selling everything, so I could eat them on the way.

"What are you saying, big sister? Giving me so many buns, you're the one who's losing out."

To everyone's surprise, the older sister sighed and said, "Oh well, what's the point of worrying about losing out? I'm not coming tomorrow anyway."

Cheng Yue asked around and found out that her older sister's mother-in-law complained that the business wasn't profitable and made a fuss every day, which made her sick. Her brothers also objected, so they really couldn't continue running the stall.

Every family has its own troubles, so Cheng Yue didn't know what to say. She offered a few words of comfort and then packed up her stall.

After loading the car, they took the three children to Wu's place to buy pork bones and offal. After exchanging a few words, they went straight home, since there was a sick person waiting for them to eat.

Before leaving town, they passed a stall selling hair accessories. Cheng Yue bought two pink hair accessories for her two daughters, and two hair ties, one for Chen Angen and one for Chen Lin.

Money is meant to be spent, and the three children are hardworking and sensible, working quietly without fear of hardship. They deserve a reward.

She didn't buy anything for herself, not because she was reluctant to spend the money, but because she couldn't bring herself to wear it.

She still prefers to tie her hair with a hair tie. Now that she has a lot of hair, she just ties it up casually, wraps it with a cloth, and it looks like a married woman's hairstyle. Outsiders can't tell anything about it.

If she could cut her hair, she would have chopped it off; her old short hair was much more neat.

The three children were overjoyed with their good business and the reward they received, their smiles beaming from ear to ear.

Back home, before Chen An could even ask, she was already chattering away, telling him everything that had happened that day, gesturing wildly as she spoke.

Cheng Yue wanted to laugh when she saw this, thinking to herself, "Kids will be kids, they can't keep anything to themselves."

Chen An was also very happy, but not as excited as the children. He was confident in Cheng Yue's food, so business was bound to be good.

It was past noon, around one or two in the afternoon. Cheng Yue was too lazy to cook, so she just ate something casually.

Anyway, with the dozen or so steamed buns given by the eldest sister, all we needed to do was make an egg drop soup. The two big pork bones left over from cooking noodles were also gnawed on by the three kids.

After finishing her meal, Cheng Yue closed the door and started counting the money. In fact, she knew the exact amount, but since her family was there, they had the right to know.

The three siblings, Chen Lin and his sister, were shocked to see a table full of copper coins spilled out. Although they were somewhat prepared, they were still taken aback and gasped.

Even Chen An's eyes widened. He only knew that Cheng Yue had sold out 30 jin of noodles, but he didn't know exactly how many bowls that was.

He thought the most he earned as a day laborer was thirty coins, so it's no wonder he was surprised to see Cheng Yue earn so many coins in a single day.

Cheng Yue smiled and took out the hemp rope in her hand. "Come on, one hundred coins per string, you can string them."

These past two days, Cheng Yue has been teaching the three children to count, and they can already count up to one hundred. It's a good time to test them.

Chen Tong and Chen Ning took a deep breath, confidently took the rope, and started counting as they strung the rope: "One, two, three, four..."

Chen Lin hesitated. He wasn't learning as fast as his younger sisters, and he was still learning haltingly.

But seeing his parents' encouraging eyes, and thinking that even if he miscounted, no one would blame him anyway, he started counting too.

Chen An could only count, not write, so he watched the three children count money with Cheng Yue.

In less than a quarter of an hour, all the copper coins were strung together.

"One, two, three..." Chen Tong exclaimed as he counted, "My God, there are seven whole strings in total, and this one is sixty-eight coins, so the total is..."

Cheng Yue looked at their furrowed brows and replied, "It's a total of seven hundred and sixty-eight coins."

"Seven hundred and sixty-eight coins..." Chen Lin murmured. What did that mean? It was terrifying. His mother earned more than seven hundred coins in one day!

Chen An was also incredulous; this was almost equivalent to what he earned in a month.
