Chapter 39 I'm Going to Hit You

Li Manying's body went limp, and she collapsed to the ground with a thud, cursing angrily:

"Ah! What are you doing, you little slut?! I'm your sister-in-law! How dare you hit me?! Let me go! Cough cough cough..."

There was still a lot of dust in the sack, and Li Manying coughed as soon as she opened her mouth.

Cheng Yue kicked her hard in the butt, "That's what I'm doing!"

She didn't secretly trap Li Manying to beat her; it was intentional from the start.

She wanted Li Manying to know that it was because she knew it was her that she wanted to beat her up, so that Li Manying wouldn't end up thinking it was a misunderstanding.

"You bitch! You dare kick me again!"

A sharp pain shot through Li Manying's buttocks, and she struggled while cursing.

"I never expected you to make such a shameless request, so I'll grant it!"

Cheng Yue punched and kicked the sack again. Since she chose to be a thief, she shouldn't blame her for being ruthless.

"You bitch! How dare you beat my sister-in-law for no reason! Is there no law? I'm reporting you to the authorities! Ah!"

"Ah! Murder!!"

"Aaaaaah! Help!"

Chen Lin, Chen Tong, and Chen Ning were awakened by the pitiful wails and immediately jumped up in fright, crying out, "Mom! Mom! What's wrong!"

The three children hurriedly put on their clothes, slipped on their shoes, and ran outside, calling out, "Dad, Mom!"

Chen Anzheng was walking towards the door with his cane. Seeing that they were quite frightened, he immediately reassured them, "It's alright, a thief broke into the house. Your mother has already caught him; he's in the kitchen."

Cheng Yue had specifically asked him to stay inside to avoid accidentally hurting him, as his leg would be even more severely injured if he bumped into something.

Knowing that the thief was none other than Li Manying, Chen An knew that Cheng Yue wouldn't suffer any loss, so he stayed in the house and waited patiently.

However, he was surprised to find himself being protected by his wife, and felt a little embarrassed, so he came out immediately upon hearing the commotion.

Upon hearing this, Chen Tong and Chen Ning ran to the kitchen, with Chen Lin supporting Chen An as they followed behind.

"Mother! Are you alright?!"

Hearing her two daughters' worried voices, Cheng Yue stopped what she was doing, smiled, and said, "It's alright, just a thief. Mother has already subdued him."

"I'll beat you to death, you thief!" Chen Lin entered the kitchen and immediately saw a tattered sack of twisted bones on the ground. He went up and punched it.

"Oh my god! You idiot, I'm your aunt!"

Chen Lin was a young boy who was used to physical labor, and his punch hurt more than Cheng Yue's. Li Manying let out another howl.

Chen Lin, Chen Tong, and Chen Ning were all stunned. The thief was actually their aunt.

Upon further reflection, it became clear why my aunt hadn't reacted after following them all day, and why my mother had said she'd find out by nightfall—it turned out she'd come to steal the secret recipe in the middle of the night.

Thinking of this, the three siblings really wanted to teach her a lesson, but after all, she was their aunt, and they couldn't bring themselves to do it.

Cheng Yue spoke up calmly at the right moment: "Don't listen to her nonsense. Your aunt is the most shameless. How could she possibly come to steal things in the middle of the night? This is a thief. If you can't beat him to death, then beat him as hard as you can."

The three siblings exchanged a glance, clenched their fists, and punched Li Manying hard in the sack.

"Ah! A bunch of bastards, you disrespectful bastards! Ahhh! Ouch! Help!"

Chen Tong slapped Li Manying across the face, yelling, "You thief, you criminal! Whose elder are you impersonating?"

After Chen Tong finished smoking, Chen Lin and Chen Ning followed suit, throwing punches as if to vent all the grievances they had suffered over the years.

"Aaaaaah! Help! Someone's going to die!"

Li Manying let out a series of pig-like screams, her body wracked with pain, and she was filled with deep regret.

She never expected that Cheng Yue and the others had recognized her and still dared to attack her. What was it that they wouldn't dare to do?

"Old man, listen, what's that sound? Has something happened to someone's house?"

Feng was a light sleeper, and when he heard a series of howls, he felt very uneasy. He quickly nudged the village head, who was snoring.

Upon hearing that someone had been in trouble, the village head immediately got up. The sound was a bit eerie, so he quickly got up and dressed.

"Quickly! Call out the mountains and rivers too, lest someone has died!"

Upon hearing this, Feng was also frightened and quickly dressed to call Zhang Dashan and his brother.

"The sound comes from the mountain, it's Chen An's house! Let's go!" The village head was so frightened that his eyelids twitched, and he waved for his two sons to follow.

Along the way, we also encountered several villagers who were also going up the mountain. When asked, they all said they had been woken up by the noise and had come up.

Zhao Xiangxiu, Liu Chunlai, and Cui Miao were also there, and they were so anxious that they shed tears.

Chen An and his family split up, and Cheng Yue started a business. Their lives were just getting a little better, but they were worried that they might have attracted some thieves.

The villagers thought that Cheng Yue had helped them by buying their sweet potato flour, and they were worried that something might happen to her.

Thinking of this, everyone felt panicked and quickened their pace.

"Chen An, Chen An's wife! Are you home? What happened?!"

Hearing the village head and villagers calling from near their doorsteps, Chen Lin and his men stopped. Cheng Yue and Chen Lin grabbed Li Manying from the sack and threw her into the yard.

"Village head, you've arrived. A thief broke into our house, but luckily we caught him and nothing bad happened."

Although they were on the mountain, they were not far from the village. Especially at night, even the slightest movement was very clear, so Cheng Yue was not surprised that the villagers had all come up.

Seeing the worried expressions on everyone's faces, Cheng Yue felt a warmth in her heart.

Most of the villagers in Houshui Village are good people. I don't know how the Chen family, these few bad apples, came to be.

Seeing that Chen An and his family were all there and had no injuries, the village head breathed a sigh of relief. "Luckily you weren't hurt. You must have been scared in the middle of the night."

Zhao Xiangxiu wiped away her tears and said worriedly, "Yes, I thought something had happened. My heart is still pounding. Luckily, you're alright."

Cheng Yue was moved and thanked Chen An along with her, saying, "Thank you everyone, we're sorry to have worried you and made you come all this way for nothing."

"What do you mean by running for nothing? It's good that you're all alright. But where did this thief come from? How dare he come to our Houshui Village to commit evil?"

After Liu Chunlai said that, Zhang Dashan also shouted, "Take off this sack and let's all see who's so blind as to dare to bully our village!"

As they spoke, the group pulled open the sack, revealing a face with blood at the corner of the mouth, dark circles under the eyes, and a face that looked like a dyed steamed bun. Everyone stared wide-eyed, but no one recognized who it was.

As soon as Li Manying poked her head out, she began to cry weakly, "Uncle Village Head, I'm Chen Ping's wife! The second son's family beat me up for no reason! You have to help me!"
