"It's nothing... cough, help me move the ladder away."
Wu Chen's tone was somewhat resentful, and only then did Wei Yuyan realize that the stairs had accidentally hit his leg.
"Oh, your leg."
Wei Yuyan then realized the importance of the problem; his leg had not yet fully healed.
"It's okay, I just bumped it with this leg, it should be fine."
Wu Chen had just used his uninjured leg to brace himself against the stairs, and now both of his legs are injured.
"What's wrong?"
When the older sister brought Yueyue back, she saw the two of them in this disheveled state.
"Oh dear, it's all my fault. I climbed up the ladder without setting it up properly and was about to fall. He caught me, but then he hit her leg instead."
Wei Yuyan helped Wu Chen up, and was still somewhat annoyed.
"It's naturally slippery in this snowy weather, let's quickly help her inside and check her wound."
Wei Yuhan urged, "We don't know how badly it was smashed yet, after all, the stairs are no small thing."
"It's okay, as long as it's not broken."
Wu Chen endured the pain and went to the kitchen, saying he would wait until his leg healed. But before that leg healed, his other leg was injured.

Wei Yuyan stopped talking nonsense and rolled up Wu Chen's pants to examine the wounds.

Wu Chen hesitated and wouldn't let him see.

Wei Yuyan pulled his hand away and saw his calf, which was indeed covered in bruises.

The older sister followed her in and frowned when she saw the wound.
"Then I'll go find Doctor Qian and get some."

Watching Wei Yuyan's departing figure, Wu Chen felt inexplicably happy. She was starting to care about him, wasn't she?
"What are you laughing at?"
Wei Yuhan looked at Wu Chen, who was both dazed and laughing, and wondered if he was a little obsessed.

"Where's the medicine?"
Fifteen minutes later, Wei Yuyan returned to the house, radiating coldness.

"Dr. Qian said he was worried about damaging the bones and muscles, and he would come over to take a look in a while."
Wei Yuyan brushed the snowflakes off her body and sat down. Actually, it wasn't very cold even though it was snowing.
"It's not that serious."
Wu Chen felt fine; his bones were definitely okay.
"He's here."
Wei Yuyan saw Dr. Qian through the crack in the window and quickly stood up to open the door.
"Wu Chen, I heard you hurt your leg when the ladder fell on it?"
This was the first time Dr. Qian had seen Wu Chen since he returned. Wu Chen had difficulty walking and the weather was cold, so he spent most of his time sitting at home warming himself by the fire.
"Yes, the bones should be fine, and he can still walk."
Wu Chen just rubbed his legs and they felt okay.
"I'll know once I check."
Doctor Qian took Wu Chen's hand and first took his pulse, then examined and touched Wu Chen's legs repeatedly.
"It's nothing serious, just a superficial injury. The medicine I brought is just right."
Dr. Qian opened his medicine box, which contained five packets of medicine.
"Boil five bowls of water down to one bowl, take one dose a day."
Doctor Qian placed the medicinal herbs on the table.
"How much is it in total?"
Wei Yuyan saw Doctor Qian off with the money bag.
"Thirty coins will suffice."
Doctor Qian's prices are always fair, and he collects all the herbs himself.
"Take care."
After paying, Wei Yuyan saw Doctor Qian out.
"Sister-in-law, who in the family is injured?"
When Xiao Lei saw Dr. Qian come out of the house, he quickly returned to ask Wei Yuyan.
“Your older brother…”
Before Wei Yuyan could finish speaking, Xiao Lei ran inside.
"Brother, what happened? Where are you hurt? Is your leg hurting again?"
Xiao Lei pulled Wu Chen around, looking him up and down.
"No, I'm not injured anywhere."
Wu Chen smiled, not wanting her younger siblings to worry.
"Your sister-in-law almost fell down the stairs, but your older brother caught her, so her leg is a little bruised. Doctor Qian prescribed some medicine."
Wei Yuhan quickly explained.
"Yes, it's all my fault for being careless."
Wei Yuyan thought she should go to town tomorrow to buy some pig's trotters, since you are what you eat to replenish your body.
That evening, Wei Yuyan personally brewed the medicine and delivered it to Wu Chen's room.
After the cold wind left, Wu Chen moved downstairs, saying it would be easier to go up and down the stairs that way.
"Knock knock knock~".
Wei Yuyan knocked on the door.
"Come in".
Wu Chen thought it was Xiao Lei who had come, so he continued reading the book in his hand.
Wei Yuyan pushed open the door and looked at Wu Chen in the candlelight. That damn jawline was actually quite attractive.
"You've arrived."
Wu Chen saw that the door had been open for a while without any movement. He looked up and was startled to see that it was Yu Yan. He quickly threw off the covers and prepared to stand up.
"Hey, no rush, just drink this medicine quickly. I forgot to tell you after dinner."
Wei Yuyan handed over a bowl of dark, murky medicine.
"Did you cook this yourself?"
Wu Chen looked at her with surprise and delight.
"Yes, I'm sorry about what happened today. I can still make you some medicine myself."
Wei Yuyan handed the bowl over again.
Without saying a word, Wu Chen took the bowl and drank it down.
"Hey, aren't you afraid of hardship?"
Wei Yuyan was surprised. "Is this even human? He drank such bitter medicine in one gulp."
"The medicine you brewed tastes quite sweet to me."
