Chapter 235 Expressing Their Longing

Chapter 235 Expressing Their Longing

"Min-en?" Jiang Mi called out in confusion.

Her shout drew the attention of both men. Min En snapped out of his reverie; he didn't want to see Huo Ran, a man with an innate nobility that was unattainable to him.

Huo Ran looked over, feeling a pang of jealousy. He had only been gone for a little over ten days, and their relationship had already improved so much? They were even calling each other by name. Huo Ran suddenly felt a sense of crisis.

Zhang Min'en lowered his head, unwilling to look at the two people in front of him anymore. The two of them standing together were just too well-matched, which stung his eyes.

"Everything's settled, everything's back to normal. The magistrate has already interrogated everyone; it was indeed the Liuxiang Pavilion across the street that instigated it. But now, when we go to find them, they're already gone." (New)

"It's gone?" Jiang Mi had just been talking to Liu Zi'an. She rushed to the door, and sure enough, the Liuxiang Pavilion was closed and looked much more desolate.

"When did this happen?" Jiang Mi asked.

Zhang Min'en also looked at Liuxiang Pavilion across the street and said, "It happened this morning. You went out then, and I was just about to tell you, but Liu Zi'an must have heard the news already and left. He has a powerful backer, so I don't think anything will really happen to him."

"What about Liu Daheng?" Jiang Mi thought for a moment. No wonder Liu Zian didn't even bother to pretend anymore and even attacked her. So that's why.

"It seems he's still in jail, but as long as that person above him doesn't fall, it's only a matter of time before Liu Daheng gets out. Liu Zi'an escaped, and we don't know if he'll come back to take revenge on us in the future."

Zhang Min'en said worriedly, "Sometimes, no matter how well you do, it's useless. In the face of supreme power, they are like ants."

"I'll meet force with force and water with earth; I, Jiang Mi, am not afraid of him!"

With Jiang Mi's words, Zhang Min'en felt more at ease.

"Now that Liuxiang Pavilion has closed down, we are the only restaurant left in Linshui County. I plan to hand it over to you to manage. Min'en, you don't need to worry about Shushan County anymore. Just focus on doing a good job here."

Zhang Min'en was taken aback for a moment, then asked in confusion, "And what about you?"

Jiang Mi has accomplished this task, but there are many more things waiting for her.

"I want to open another soapberry shop, but I don't think business will be very good here. I'll have to go to the capital."

"The capital?" Zhang Min'en's eyes widened. "You're going to the capital?"

This woman's ambitions were far greater than he had imagined.

"Yes, but I'll come back often, so you don't need to worry. I'm at ease leaving this place in your hands. My older brother is still back home, so if anyone bullies you, just write to me and I'll naturally help you."

Zhang Min'en stared blankly at Jiang Mi. For the first time, he realized that the gap between him and Jiang Mi was so big. She had her own ideas and would immediately put them into practice, while he could only think about them. When it came to actually doing them, he would start to back down. He had no confidence at all. How could someone like him be worthy of Jiang Mi?

Jiang Mi didn't know what Zhang Min'en was thinking. She just assumed he was worried, so she reassured him a few more times. She still trusted Zhang Min'en's character.

When only Jiang Mi and Huo Ran remained, Huo Ran asked somewhat uncomfortably, "You and Zhang Min'en seem to have a good relationship. He's a good kid, why don't you take him to the capital?"

Jiang Mi didn't notice the odd tone in his words and replied seriously, "I have considered bringing him along. Although Min En is quite young, he's a good helper and very smart. Most importantly, he's very loyal, and I'm not worried at all that he'll betray me."

Jiang Mi kept calling him Min En, which made Huo Ran very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, it was Huo Ran who had asked the question, so even though he was uncomfortable, he could only bear it.

"Really? You trust him that much? Is he really that good?"

Jiang Mi didn't detect the jealousy in his words at all, and confidently assured Zhang Min'en: "Really, he is a really good kid. Don't let his quietness and lack of smile fool you, he is indeed a promising talent."

Suddenly, he couldn't hold back any longer and blurted out, "Could it be that he..."

Is he better than me? Ever since you met him, you've been praising him nonstop, calling him "Min-eun" all the time. You've never been so affectionate with me.

If Jiang Mi still couldn't tell, then she really was a fool. She turned around and glanced at Huo Ran. This guy was saying jealous things while keeping a straight face. What a hypocrite.

"What's wrong? Are you jealous of a little kid?"

Huo Ran said unhappily, "What do you mean 'little kid'? This kid is not little anymore. He's already at the age to get married. You treat him like a child? Ask him if he thinks he's a child."

Jiang Mi was helpless. This was the first time she had ever seen Huo Ran act like a rogue. She really didn't know how to coax him. When this man got jealous, he was even more difficult to deal with than a woman.

"Oh dear, I have no feelings for him. Don't talk nonsense. If others hear you, they'll laugh at you. Besides, you know how I feel."

After Jiang Mi finished speaking, she lowered her head shyly.

Huo Ran felt much better after hearing this.

“Of course I believe you, but I don’t trust that Min’en. I can tell what he’s thinking just by looking at his eyes. Never mind, are you coming back to the capital with me this time?”

Jiang Mi was stunned for a moment. Although she had said that, she was not fully prepared.

"When are you going back? I do plan to go to the capital, but if I go now, I don't know if I can make a business there. I know nothing about the capital."

Huo Ran reassured her, "Don't worry, I'm here. No one will dare to bully you. If you don't want my help, I can offer you some assistance. You need someone you know to tell you where it's better to do business, right?"

Hearing this, Jiang Mi felt it made a lot of sense. With Huo Ran around, she did feel more confident.

“Alright, then I’ll go back with you. I’ll bring my parents with me. They’ve never seen what the capital is like before, so it’ll be a good opportunity for us to go and broaden our horizons.”

As Jiang Mi finished speaking, she thought about going home; she needed to tell her family about this plan.

Huo Ran had finally managed to see Jiang Mi, so naturally he was reluctant to part ways so soon.

"It's been so long since we last met, I miss you so much, how about you?"

Jiang Mi remained silent, only nodding, but Huo Ran persisted: "No, I want to hear you say it to me yourself."

Jiang Mi blushed, lowered her head shyly, and whispered, "I miss you too."
