Chapter 251 Keep Up the Good Work
Jiang Mi was still feeling down, but she was feeling a bit better than last night.
"Miss, the food is ready. I'll bring it to you. Please eat in your room."
Jiang Mi nodded. She was home alone, so there was no need for her to eat in the front room. The food smelled quite delicious when it was served, and that's when she realized she was hungry.
"This chef seems to be a master chef invited from Shushan County. The food he makes tastes pretty good, and even the maids and servants eat very well." Mo Hua was very grateful. She had never eaten such good food before, and there was so much meat. The owner of this house was really too generous.
However, after hearing this, Jiang Mi thought of Huo Ran. It was Huo Ran who found this chef, just because he was worried that she wouldn't be used to the tastes in the capital. He was very thoughtful in this regard.
But thinking about his identity, Jiang Mi still felt very sad. Why didn't he tell her sooner? If she had known his identity from the beginning, would things have turned out this way?
Thinking about these things now is useless. Jiang Mi has never been one to look back. Now she can only move forward and do her own task. There's nothing else she can change.
Siqin noticed that Jiang Mi's expression was off, so she quietly tugged at Mo Hua's clothes, signaling her to stop talking.
Mo Hua then realized she had said the wrong thing; she shouldn't have brought up Huo Ran. Jiang Mi was clearly unhappy.
Jiang Mi didn't say anything. She immediately lost her appetite. After eating a few bites, she stopped eating, put down her bowl, and went outside for a walk.
She has now tidied up the small courtyard very well. She has kept the flowers, plants and trees planted by the previous owner. Weeds have grown around the courtyard. She picked up a small hoe to remove the weeds. The maids and servants around her were all startled when they saw this.
"Miss, we can handle this kind of thing. Why are you doing it yourself?"
The maids and servants hurriedly took over the work, and Jiang Mi lost interest in weeding. She had only been doing it because she had nothing else to do, and now that the maids and servants had taken it away from her, she decided not to do it anymore.
"What's the big deal? I grew up in the countryside. Although my family protected me very well and didn't let me do anything, I can still do this little thing well."
Siqin quickly said, "Miss, what you're saying is true. The past is the past, but now that we're here, we can't just take your monthly salary for nothing. We serve you here, and our monthly salary is higher than that of the Prime Minister's mansion. We eat almost the same food as our mistress, and our daily tasks are very easy. We are already very content and happy. How can we let you do such things yourself?"
Jiang Mi thought about it and realized it made sense. Whether it was the shop assistants or the servants at home, Jiang Mi had always been very generous. She always knew a principle: if you are stingy with the people around you, you may be betrayed by your closest relatives in the future. But if you treat the people around you very well, they will definitely be loyal and devoted.
Although you can't rely on others, the people around you can sometimes help you. You must not be inhumane.
"As long as you do your job well, you will naturally reap the rewards in the future. I will only make others envious of you, and I will never let you envy others."
The servants were deeply moved by Jiang Mi's words and worked even harder.
Jiang Mi felt she couldn't stay so depressed. Instead of wasting time, she decided to browse the shops in the capital to find opportunities and direction for her future development. But as soon as she stepped outside, she saw Liu Min standing there, seemingly waiting for her for quite some time.
"What are you doing here?" Jiang Mi no longer gave him a friendly look. "Did your master send you to wait here?"
Liu Min nodded: "My master knows that he has angered you, Miss, so he sent me here to wait for you. He knows that you don't want to see him, so he doesn't dare to appear in front of you."
Jiang Mi said irritably, "He knows I don't want to see him, but do you think I want to see you? Seeing you reminds me of him. Go away, I don't want to see you."
Liu Min
He said, "I can keep it from you, Miss Jiang, but I must protect you properly. If I fail in my duty, my master will not let me off the hook."
Jiang Mi was almost speechless: "What does he mean by this? Does he mean I can't survive here without you guys? I could still manage on my own without your help before, I..."
At this point, Jiang Mi suddenly remembered that the first money she earned was given to her by Huo Ran. Although she had developed a new product, if Huo Ran hadn't bought it all for her, she wouldn't have had the money to open a restaurant, let alone live such a good life.
Maybe she can live that kind of life in the future, but it won't be that soon.
“Miss Jiang, you misunderstand. My master was just worried that you would be bullied, so he sent me to protect you. There was no other meaning. Moreover, with Miss Jiang’s talent and ability, it would be easy for you to establish yourself in the capital. My master also wants to benefit from your success.”
Jiang Mi knew that Liu Min was deliberately flattering her when he said those words, but she was still unhappy. She wanted to prove that she could do it all by herself.
“I understand, but your master doesn’t need to worry so much. You can go back now. You don’t need to protect me. I can protect myself. If you’re worried that Liu Zijun will cause trouble, then let her come. I’m not afraid of her.”
Liu Min was about to say something, but Jiang Mi wouldn't listen. She took Siqin and Mohua to the street, and when she looked back, Liu Min didn't follow. She didn't know if he had really left or if he was secretly following her from the shadows.
"Young lady, where are you headed?"
Siqin saw that Jiang Mi had walked around several times without any goal, so she couldn't help but ask her a question.
Jiang Mi finally snapped out of her thoughts and realized that Huo Ran had a significant impact on her, which was not a good thing. It would only affect her enthusiasm and focus.
"It's alright, let's go check out the soap shop."
Jiang Mi first went to the largest soap shop in the capital. She had been there before, but at that time she had only taken a casual look and hadn't really looked into it. Now that she was preparing to open a shop, of course she wanted to learn more about it.
"Young lady, are you looking to buy soapberries?"
Jiang Mi asked, "Yes, I wonder how your soapberries are? I heard that your shop is the best soapberry shop in the capital."
