Chapter 257 The Man in Blue Robe

Chapter 257 The Man in Blue Robe

"What did Huo Ran say?" Jiang Zhi was a little worried. He didn't really want Jiang Mi to be with Huo Ran. After all, although Huo Ran hadn't told them about his identity, they could guess that Huo Ran's identity must be quite high.

If Huo Ran can protect Jiang Mi, that's fine; but if he can't, then it's tantamount to harming Jiang Mi.

“Huo Ran…” Jiang Xuan paused. He didn’t quite understand Huo Ran’s thoughts either. “Judging from his appearance, he seems to care about honey, but… you and I are both men, so we naturally understand men. Who knows if he’s just having a whim? We need to find out his identity first.”

Jiang Zhi nodded, then glanced at the direction of the back room with heartache. This was the first time his younger sister had ever gotten so close to a man. He hoped she wouldn't get hurt.

Jiang Mi woke up feeling dizzy. The system's words lingered in her mind for a long time. She fell asleep very late, but she had something on her mind and woke up early in the morning.

Jiang Xuan and Jiang Zhi had two days left before their exams. They got up early to go to the academy to study and happened to see Jiang Mi standing in the courtyard, lost in thought.

"Honey? Why are you up so early?" Jiang Zhi was very surprised, because Jiang Mi usually didn't get up until late morning, so it was surprising that she got up so early today.

Jiang Xuan was also surprised, but considering Mi Tang's experience over the past two days, it didn't seem so strange.

"It's good to get up early and eat something, it's better than lying in bed all the time. Would you like to come to the academy with us?"

Jiang Mi was stunned for a moment, then, thinking that she had nothing else to do, she followed Jiang Zhi and Jiang Xuan.

The academy was quiet. Everyone was inside, either reading or writing, each one writing furiously as if they wouldn't give up until they passed the imperial examination.

Seeing how hard everyone was working for their future, Jiang Mi felt that it was not good to be so caught up in romantic relationships. She couldn't let a man affect her plans.

"Honey, you can wander around here. Your brothers have to go now. If you're bored, you can go to the back street. It's not very lively there, but it has its own charm."

Jiang Mi quickly said, "I'm fine, you guys go ahead and do your work. I still need to check on the shop later, so don't worry about me."

Jiang Mi first strolled around the academy and found that apart from some flowers, plants and trees, there was nothing else to see. So she went to the backyard, intending to go and see the street that Jiang Zhi had mentioned.

Unexpectedly, when they arrived at the backyard, they saw a man in a blue robe standing there, holding a book in his hand, looking down as if deep in thought. Hearing footsteps, he frowned slightly and looked back.

This must be her brother's classmate. Jiang Mi nodded in acknowledgment and then left.

But he didn't notice that the expression on the person behind him had become very subtle.

The street Jiang Zhi mentioned was right behind the academy. There were snack stalls and toy shops inside. Jiang Mi thought it was a business for the academy, but she didn't expect that there were quite a few people in each shop. It looked quite lively.

"Young lady, would you like to take a look at our embroidery? Each one is unique."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Mi went inside. She was greeted by an elderly woman nearing sixty, who was holding a handkerchief and smiling at her.

"How much is this?" Jiang Mi wasn't very familiar with needlework, but the woman's stitches looked very fine, and the embroidery pattern was quite rare.

"A handkerchief costs three coins. If you want something else, it will be a little more expensive. If you really want it, I can give you a discount."

Jiang Mi looked around. The other shops were doing fairly well, but this old woman's shop was dilapidated and looked very simple, so business wasn't good.

"Okay, I'll come in and take a look. I was just about to buy some things for my family. Are you here alone, Mother-in-law?"

The old woman smiled kindly and said, "Yes, I'm usually all alone. But my son studies at this academy, and he usually comes back to help me when he has free time. However, he has exams coming up soon, so he doesn't have much time. I can't let him interfere with his studies, so I don't let him come back to help."

For some reason, Jiang Mi thought of the place under the tree earlier.

The man was handsome, but rather thin, and seemed somewhat out of place among the others.

"Oh, I see. That's great. I've heard that the students at this academy are all very talented. Maybe your son will get good grades in a couple of days, and then you won't have to work so hard."

The woman was overjoyed to hear this: "Yes, I hope so too. As long as he can pass the imperial examination and bring honor to our ancestors, all my hard work will be worthwhile."

Mothers are like that; they can give everything for their children. Jiang Cheng and his mother were the same way. They went to great lengths and made many sacrifices to get their second and third brothers into the academy.

"I'll take all these patterns, but they're all so beautiful. Why can't you embroider more of each one?"

The woman said apologetically, "Actually, my eyesight is not good. After doing embroidery for so many years, my eyesight has deteriorated, especially at night. I sell embroidery during the day and stay up late at night, so mistakes are inevitable. It's not that I deliberately make each one different, but my ability is limited, so I can only embroider each one differently."

"That's good. With me dressed like this, I don't have to worry about anyone else wearing the same thing. I'll buy more and prepare some for my servants as well."

The woman was overjoyed, never expecting to meet such a kind guest today. She immediately wrapped up Jiang Mi's clothes carefully and said, "If you can't carry them, I'll take them to you, or I'll have my son deliver them to your home later. Otherwise, it would be my fault if you were tired from the journey."

Jiang Mi still needed to look at the shop, so she handed it over to the woman. She told the woman her address and continued walking inside.

After Jiang Mi left, the man in the blue robe entered the shop. When the woman saw him, she smiled happily and said, "Why did you come back again? I told you that you have an exam in a couple of days. Don't keep getting distracted. Go back now. I can manage on my own here."

The man in the blue robe looked around and saw that the woman was wrapping up some embroidery items. He asked curiously, "What are you doing? Not selling them anymore?"

The woman said happily, "A very generous young lady just came by and bought all my things. I don't think she needs that many. She's just kind-hearted. Good people are always rewarded, so I plan to give her a little more."
