Chapter 322 The Winery
The other two agreed, so the waiter went to serve the wine, and the group began to look around the small winery.
Jiang Mi didn't set up too many tables and chairs in the lobby. There were some ancient books in the back row for people to browse at will. There were also many calligraphy and paintings about wine hanging on the walls, which complemented the room's furnishings and created a very charming atmosphere.
The group found the place very novel; they had never seen a shop like this before.
"Is this a newly opened restaurant, or has it been open for a while? Why is it in such a remote location?"
The waiter served the drinks and explained with a grin, "Our shop is called Deep Alley. Since this is your first time here, and it happens to be our first day of business, we're offering you the drinks for free. If you like them, please recommend them to your friends."
This was Jiang Mi's instruction; otherwise, no waiter would dare to be so bold as to offer guests free wine tastings. The three of them never expected such a good thing.
"Really? Your manager is really generous. No wonder he can open a shop in such a place. He must be someone who doesn't care about worldly affairs. But even from this far away, we were able to smell the aroma and come here, which means your wine is indeed very good. As long as it's good wine, it will be discovered no matter where it is."
Several people couldn't wait to start tasting the wine, and one exclamation of praise after another could be heard. Then, more people came over one after another, drawn by the aroma of the wine. Seeing this, Jiang Mi felt that she had won her gamble. She hadn't spent the slightest effort, but had attracted so many people just by her own ability, which showed that her wine was indeed very good.
"Wow, so many customers on the first day, especially in such a remote place. I bet our alley will become much busier because of your drinks."
Business in this alley wasn't actually that bad. Most of the customers were scholars from the academy buying books or other necessities. So, most of the businesses in this alley catered to scholars, with a particular focus on selling paper, ink, brushes, and inkstones. Other businesses were quite quiet.
"As long as everyone recognizes that my wine is good, I don't care about anything else. Actually, my target is the owners and managers of those restaurants. If they want to buy my wine, they have to buy a lot at once, and one income is enough for me to live on for a long time."
An Ziqing gave a thumbs up again: "Impressive, no wonder you're a big businessman. I'm telling you, Huo Ran, this little beauty of yours is not simple, you can't handle her."
"Shut up, stop talking nonsense." Huo Ran scolded An Ziqing while secretly watching Jiang Mi's expression, afraid that she would be annoyed by An Ziqing's nonsense.
Jiang Mi had never seen anyone speak so unrestrainedly before, and blushed slightly with embarrassment, but she didn't blame him too much, after all, An Ziqing didn't mean any harm.
An Ziqing knew Jiang Mi's place in Huo Ran's heart. Seeing Huo Ran give her a fierce look, she dared not say anything more. Huo Ran's meticulous treatment of Jiang Mi clearly showed that he cherished her, otherwise he wouldn't be so nervous.
"Alright, alright, I misspoke earlier. It was my fault. This wine is so delicious, I have to take some back to savor slowly. Don't worry, I'll pay for it."
These people weren't short of money, so Jiang Mi had the shopkeeper accept it. This would make An Ziqing feel better. As they became more familiar with each other in the future, he could give them money if he wanted, or not if he didn't.
That evening, Jiang Mi checked the accounts and found that they were still quite good, but not as good as the monthly income.
"On the first day, without any promotion, it's already quite good that the business is doing this well." After a day, Wang Qianghui's attitude towards Jiang Mi had completely changed. "It's all thanks to the shopkeeper's good wine. Our own master and staff were drooling over the smell, but they didn't dare to drink any of it."
Jiang Mi smiled and said, "If everyone likes it, just take it at cost price. Just don't drink too much, or it will interfere with the work."
"Alright, even I, someone who doesn't drink, can't resist trying it."
Jiang Mi went back happily. She now has two shops and is already very busy. It's not that she's busy with anything in the shops, but rather that she needs to think of ways to research new things. Otherwise, if she keeps using the same few things, everyone will get tired of it.
Alcohol is one thing; as long as it tastes good, people will continue to drink it. But soap has a limited lifespan. Waiting until you need it before buying it is a different feeling than wanting to buy it whenever you see something you like.
When Jiang Mi got home, she wanted to try the new scented soap, but Jiang Zhi grabbed her arm.
"These past few days you've been appearing and disappearing without a trace. You're staying in the same house, and I've been trying to find you everywhere."
Listening to Jiang Zhi's complaints, Jiang Mi said helplessly, "I just opened a winery, so I'm a bit busy. What do you need me for?"
Jiang Zhi retorted, dissatisfied, "Can't your brother come to you even when I don't have anything to do?"
Jiang Mi was shocked to see that her older brother was almost like a younger brother, and now she had to coax him.
Jiang Xuan stopped him: "Alright, don't pay any attention to him. It's like this, the old lady of the Zheng Prince's Mansion is going to celebrate her birthday and has invited many ladies and young ladies from prominent families. My third brother and I are also among the invitees and can bring their families. So we were wondering if you would like to come along."
Jiang Mi wasn't very interested in those things: "I won't go, you guys can take your wives."
Su Yindi naturally wanted to go, and she pulled Jiang Mi along, saying, "Oh dear, my second sister-in-law doesn't want to go. If I go alone, I'll be like a headless fly. Why don't you come with me? It'll be a good opportunity to get to know the ladies and young women of the capital."
Actually, Jiang Mi didn't really want to go, because they came from a poor background and were destined to be cold and disliked by the ladies and young women of the capital. But it didn't seem right if she didn't go.
Jiang's mother said from the side, "Go, go broaden your horizons. Liang Lan is going too. They've all gone. What are you doing at home all by yourself? It's so boring staying at home every day. Go out and get some fresh air."
Liang Lan smiled less than when she arrived. She forced a smile and said, "I think I'll pass. I'm just a peasant woman from a farming family. I don't know what to say to those ladies and young ladies. I don't understand any etiquette. If I make a fool of myself, I'll embarrass Jiang Xuan."
Jiang Xuan was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected Liang Lan to think this way: "What are you saying? How could I despise you for being shameful? You are my wife, and you should never think like this."
Liang Lan lowered her head and did not refute anything, her mood was very low.
Jiang Mi has been so busy lately that she's forgotten about her family. Judging from Liang Lan's appearance, she seems to be having a difficult time lately.
