Chapter 350 The Child

Chapter 350 The Child

Hearing Jiang Cheng speak like this, Su Yindi fell silent. After all, he was the head of the family, and his words carried considerable authority. No one dared to contradict him, except for Jiang's mother. Unfortunately, even Jiang's mother now felt that Jiang Cheng was right.

“You guys are just idle all day long. It’s a good thing that the second son’s wife wants to find something to do. Why are you discouraging her? Just because you’re idle at home doesn’t mean everyone else is idle too.”

Su Yindi said aggrievedly, "I haven't been idle at all. I've been taking care of the child every day. I don't know who this child takes after. He's so difficult. He must take after Jiang Zhi."

Upon hearing the word "child," Liang Lan looked down at her lower abdomen. She hadn't had any reaction yet. She had seen so many doctors, all of whom said there was nothing wrong with her, so why wasn't she pregnant?

Jiang Mi saw through Liang Lan's thoughts. In front of so many people, she couldn't say anything. After everyone went back to their rooms, Jiang Mi made an excuse to call Jiang Xuan aside.

"Second brother, there's something I want to ask you." When Jiang Mi was about to speak, she felt embarrassed. After all, she was just a young girl, and it wasn't appropriate to tell her brother such a thing. But she didn't know who to talk to her second brother about.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Xuan asked nervously. He assumed that Jiang Mi had encountered something in the palace, which was why she had come to ask him in secret.

Jiang Mi opened her mouth, feeling too embarrassed to ask her brother why he still didn't have children, looking at his worried face.

With a sigh, Jiang Mi could only make up an excuse: "It's nothing. I just saw the Emperor today. He seems to dote on Consort Jing, so Manager Liu shouldn't be affected for the time being."

So that's what happened. Jiang Xuan comforted Jiang Mi: "It's okay, don't worry. If that Manager Liu comes looking for trouble again, I will definitely deal with him. So what if he has Consort Jing as his backer? We are not afraid of him!"

Jiang Mi nodded. With her second brother's words, she immediately felt more confident.

After coaxing her second brother away, Jiang Mi went to see her mother. Her mother was talking to Jiang Cheng, and immediately shut up when she saw Jiang Mi.

"Honey, what brings you here?"

Seeing Jiang Cheng's aggrieved expression, Jiang Mi guessed that he hadn't spoken to Jiang's mother.

"What's wrong, Dad? Why do you look so unhappy?"

Jiang's mother turned around and glared at Jiang Cheng, saying, "Sigh, he just wants to go back to his hometown. You're all here, and our eldest grandson is here too. What would we do if we went back to our hometown? Staying here can be a bit boring sometimes, but I'm already very content to be able to see you and our eldest grandson every day."

Jiang Mi glanced at Jiang Cheng and knew he must be bored here.

"Dad, are you bored every day? If you have something you like to do, then do it. Although I'm reluctant to see you leave, I don't want to see you unhappy here either. You can go home for a while and then come back, okay?"

Seeing his daughter's thoughtfulness, Jiang Cheng felt much relieved: "Let's forget it. If your mother doesn't want to go, it's pointless for me to go back alone. If it seems your mother wants to go back, then I'll go back with her."

For decades, Jiang Cheng has always been like this, very fond of sticking to his mother. Wherever she goes, he has to follow, and he absolutely cannot be separated from her.

"Alright, then Dad, find something to do so you won't get bored all day and start getting annoyed again in a few days."

Jiang Cheng nodded: "Okay, I'll go and turn over the soil at the back of the field first. You two can talk."

After Jiang Cheng left, Jiang's mother complained, "I didn't say he had to come with me to do anything. Can't a grown man go back home if he wants to?"

Jiang Mi smiled, knowing that Jiang Cheng's clinginess made her mother happy, as the couple had always been like this over the years.

"Mother, I've come to see you because I have something to tell you."

Seeing Jiang Mi's serious expression, Jiang's mother quickly asked, "What's wrong?"

Jiang Mi thought about it. Although she was too embarrassed to ask her mother, she felt much more at ease compared to Jiang Xuan.

"Mother, have you noticed that my second sister-in-law really wants a child, but she hasn't had one all these years?"

Mentioning this, Jiang's mother looked worried: "Yes, of course I can see that too. This can't be forced. Let nature take its course."

Jiang Mi sighed: "I thought so too before, but my second sister-in-law doesn't think so. She really wants a child. I saw her try some folk remedies, but they didn't work. And... I even accompanied her to see a doctor, but many doctors said that there was nothing wrong with her. So I'm wondering, is it my second brother's problem?"

Jiang's mother was shocked: "This can't be! Your second brother seems fine, and your third brother is also fine. They are twins, there's no way anything could happen to them."

Jiang Mi shrugged: "I don't know either, so I can't really talk to my second brother about this. Why don't you go, Mother, or let my father go and take my second brother to see a doctor? Anyway, my sister-in-law has already seen many doctors, and everyone says she's fine."

Upon hearing this, Jiang's mother began to worry: "Could it really be your second brother's problem? Your second brother seems like a perfectly healthy person. If he has such a hidden illness... wouldn't it be inappropriate for your father and me to ask him? It would be so embarrassing for him. It's better to pretend we don't know anything."

Jiang Mi agreed, but she also felt sorry for her second sister-in-law: "But your second sister-in-law is very unhappy. Haven't you noticed? She often stares at Jiang Chao in a daze, probably fantasizing about having a child."

After thinking for a moment, Jiang's mother said, "I'll go talk to your second sister-in-law. I won't talk to your second brother for now, or I'll have your father go talk to your second brother."

Jiang Mi was afraid that her mother would upset her second sister-in-law: "My second sister-in-law didn't want you to know about this before, and she told me not to tell you. I only came to you because I had no other choice. Mother, please don't upset my second sister-in-law."

Jiang's mother waved her hand: "Don't worry, I know she just wants peace of mind. I'll give her that peace of mind. Anyway, I've decided that she's my daughter-in-law. If she really wants a child, we can just adopt one. There are so many poor children. Adopting one would be a good deed."

Hearing her mother say this, Jiang Mi felt much more at ease, and Liang Lan would surely feel reassured too.

"Alright, alright, these things are none of your business, you little girl. Honestly, you're not even married yet, and you're already worrying about other people's affairs."
