Chapter Forty: Yang Liu's Counterattack
Zhu Qiancheng arrived late, his face full of anger, saying he was going to Qingyun Village to demand an explanation.
"Village chief, I'll go with you."
"Yes, we'll go with you to get an explanation."
…
People from the same village naturally help each other. Now that he has been wronged and framed, it would be unreasonable not to seek justice.
As the situation gradually spiraled out of control, Madam Jiang smiled and said, "Thank you for your kindness, but this is a family matter for the Jiang family, so we won't trouble you all."
"Aunt Jiang, what are you saying? If there's anything we can do to help, just let us know. We'll definitely help if we can," said Aunt Wang, the neighbor, with a smile.
"OK."
Qingyun Village
Yang Liu had just returned to the village when she received the news.
"Yang Liu, Zhu Qiancheng and the Jiang family are on their way here to demand an explanation. Judging from their appearance, they won't let this go easily. You'd better find a place to hide first!"
As a fellow villager, I naturally believe that the delicate willow tree wouldn't do such a thing.
But there was no time to find out the reason, so they could only tell the person to hide first.
Yang Liu looked touched and said, "Thank you, Brother Wang."
Brother Wang scratched his head sheepishly: "Hey, what's the big deal? You hide first, and I'll call you when they leave."
At the same time, Village Chief Yang also received the news and quickly led his men to block the village entrance.
Seeing the menacing Jiang family, Village Chief Yang showed no fear and instead mocked them sarcastically, "Oh, what a good day it is today? What wind blew Zhu Qiancheng and you all here?"
"Pah!" Zhu Qiancheng spat on the ground and said, "Bring Yang Liu out."
Upon hearing Yang Liu's name, Village Chief Yang immediately perked up: "If you put it that way, I'm even less likely to hand over Yang Liu."
"Yang Liu instigated Hao Shi to frame Jiang Mi. She must come with us to the yamen!" Zhu Qiancheng said righteously.
"Pah!" Village Chief Yang spat on the ground, glanced at Hao's mother, and said with a disdainful look, "We kindly took in Hao and her son, but who knew they would do such petty theft? We tolerated them time and time again, and we expelled them from Qingyun Village some time ago. We don't believe what she says."
The crowd exchanged bewildered glances; it seemed Village Chief Yang was determined to stand by Yang Liu to the very end.
Hao's mother looked extremely ugly. Although life had been rather difficult before, at least she had a place to stay. Now, however, she had become a rat that everyone wanted to beat.
All of this originated from the willow tree.
Hao's mother clenched her fists, swallowing her anger and remaining silent.
“I remember that Yang Liu was the best embroiderer in Qingyun Village. This is the proof, as well as Yang Liu’s unique embroidery techniques.” Jiang Mi took out a brocade pouch from her bosom and waved it in front of Village Chief Yang.
In Qingyun Village, Yang Liu is recognized as the best embroiderer, but unfortunately, this little skill is of little use.
"It's just a tattered brocade pouch; it proves nothing. Please leave!" Village Chief Yang said coldly, issuing an order to leave.
“Village Chief Yang is right. A tattered brocade pouch can't prove anything,” Jiang Mi nodded in agreement.
Seeing Jiang Mi's reaction, Village Chief Yang nodded in satisfaction. Jiang Mi was indeed good at judging situations and handling things.
These adults are less sensible than children; they are truly unworthy of being parents.
But then Jiang Mi said, "Since Yang Liu is innocent, let him come out and prove it."
Swish—
Village Chief Yang's face darkened rapidly, and he said in an unhappy tone, "So you're planning to drag this out with us, aren't you? Let me tell you, Qingyun Village isn't going to be trifled with. If you push us too far, you won't have an easy time either!"
The men behind him held hoes, ready to strike.
The atmosphere grew increasingly frenzied.
Just then, a soft, weak voice came from behind.
“Village Chief…” Yang Liu, dressed in green, ran over with small, quick steps, her voice soft: “Since they want to confront each other on the spot, then let them have their way.”
Looking at the delicate willow branches, and recalling the flower buds waiting to bloom on the bed, Village Chief Yang's throat tightened slightly, and a hint of lust flashed in his eyes.
But looking at the current situation, he quickly suppressed the desire and anger in his heart and said in a gentle tone: "What are you doing out here? We can handle this little thing."
Yang Liu ignored the lecherous look in Village Chief Yang's eyes, gave him a coquettish glare, and said, "This can't go on forever. I don't want to cause discord between the two villages because of me."
He suddenly appeared to be a well-educated and reasonable person.
This really broke the hearts of the rough men in Qingyun Village.
"If you have a problem, come at us. What kind of skill is it to bully a little girl?"
Jiang Mi was speechless as she looked at those thoughtless men.
They haven't done anything yet, why are they so excited?
"Everyone, calm down. I don't think they mean any harm. Besides, Mimi and I are best friends." He said with a smile and went over to take Jiang Mi's wrist, but Jiang Mi subconsciously avoided him.
Yang Liu's face immediately fell, and she said with a wronged expression, "Mimi, do you still resent me for what happened back then?"
Seeing his young lover crying, Village Chief Yang felt extremely distressed.
Jiang Mi said coldly, "Don't try to get involved with me. You made this brocade pouch, didn't you?"
Looking at the brocade pouch in Jiang Mi's hand, Yang Liu took it, gently rubbing it with her hand, and said in a gentle tone, "I made this, but Aunt Hao asked me to make it."
Yang Liu glanced at Hao's mother in the crowd and explained, "Aunt Hao said she often saw you carrying a brocade pouch, which she thought was pretty, so she asked me to make an identical one. She also gave me 10 copper coins. I thought it was only right for us to help each other since we're all from the same village."
With just a few words, he cleaned up all his grievances.
Jiang Mi remained calm, as if everything was under control.
Yang Liu is not very old, but she is extremely eloquent and quick-witted, which is a perfect description of her.
Seeing Yang Liu turn her back on her, Hao's mother became agitated: "You didn't tell me this when we were in the reeds! This brocade pouch was clearly taken from my son, and you were the one who told me that Jiang Mi had one just like it, and that she might be the murderer. Now you've changed your story completely?"
It wasn't like this before.
Yang Liu looked completely innocent: "Aunt Hao, what are you talking about? I don't understand. Didn't you ask me to do it?"
"Fine!" Mother Hao was furious, her chest heaving as she pointed at Yang Liu with trembling hands: "So it turns out I've been tricked by you, you little slut! Fine, you little bitch, you won't tell the truth unless I teach you a lesson."
As he spoke, he frantically lunged at Yang Liu.
"Ah!" Yang Liuxia hid behind the villagers, wiping away tears, and cried, "If I had known you were going to frame Mimi, I wouldn't have agreed to your request."
