Chapter 192 Jiang Cheng's Lesson
"Mother, what are you saying? He and I have nothing between us. What if others overhear us? Who knows what they'll say about us behind our backs?"
Jiang's mother smiled. Although Jiang Mi seemed to be resisting on the surface, her eyes and expression didn't show much resistance. It seemed that she had really fallen for Huo Ran. She wondered if it was a bad fate. But fate is something that can't be explained. If they were destined to be together, no one could stop them.
"Alright, alright, I won't say anymore. Now that my three sons are all married, only you, my youngest daughter, are left. If you can find a good man, your father and mother will be much more at ease. As long as this person treats you well, that's enough. We don't ask for too much. Our family isn't short of money. As for the future, you have your two older brothers, so we don't expect anything from others."
This was what Jiang's mother was thinking, but unfortunately Huo Ran was no ordinary person, and she didn't know if her daughter could handle him.
Seeing that her mother was talking non-stop, Jiang Mi suddenly opened the door and came out. It was unclear how much she had heard. Her face flushed slightly, and she said shyly, "Mom, stop talking. They've been busy all day and must be hungry. Let's bring them some dinner first."
Jiang's mother also saw Huo Ran and quickly replied, "Okay, I'll have the kitchen prepare it right away. Young Master Huo, please wait a little longer. The food will be ready soon. There are some snacks in the room, so please have something to eat if you're hungry."
Huo Ran quickly replied, "Thank you, Auntie. I'm not hungry yet. The restaurant hasn't been able to open and we haven't had any income. I don't know if we have enough money at home. If not, I have some here..."
Jiang's mother had no right to accept his money; he wasn't even her son-in-law yet, and he was being far too impatient.
"No need. Thanks to you for buying the grain we planted before, we still have a lot of money left. Even if the restaurant loses money every day, we can still hold on for a while. Compared to ordinary people, we are living a relatively comfortable life."
The reason they lose money every day is that even if there is no business in the restaurant, they still have to support the chefs, waiters, and master brewers, and pay them their daily wages. Even if they have no work to do, the reason for doing this is to win people's hearts and make them loyal to the Jiang family restaurant.
Huo Ran smiled and didn't say anything more. He felt that it was worth it no matter how much money he spent to help the Jiang family and make them like him. Moreover, this kind of thing was beneficial to both parties, and Huo Ran had no shortage of money.
Jiang Cheng arrived shortly after his mother left. He noticed that Huo Ran's expression was somewhat unnatural. He was still quite averse to this person getting close to his daughter, but since even his wife didn't object, it seemed pointless for him to object alone.
"Young Master Huo wanders around outside all day, surely he must have something important to do? Otherwise, where will his monthly allowance come from, and how will he support his family in the future?"
Jiang Cheng thought about how he had started working in the fields at a very young age and learned to save money and take care of his family early on. After getting married and having children, he worked even harder, always worried that his wife and children wouldn't have a hot meal. That's what a man should be like. Looking at Huo Ran's leisurely appearance, could he support a family?
Huo Ran smiled upon hearing this, not finding anything wrong with Jiang Cheng's words. Instead, he humbly replied, "Uncle is right. As a man, I should indeed shoulder more responsibility. I will also save more money for my family in the future. I still have a lot to learn from you, Uncle. Please do not hesitate to give me your guidance."
Seeing Huo Ran's good attitude, Jiang Cheng had nowhere to vent his anger. As the saying goes, one doesn't hit a smiling face. Huo Ran's attitude was so good, if he continued to make things difficult for Huo Ran, it would seem like he was being petty.
"It's good that you have this awareness. You're a promising student. Although I don't have much ability, my children are all very capable. Many people envy me for this idea."
Huo Ran truly admired this. He had always appreciated Jiang Mi. Jiang Mi was indeed a rare and remarkable person. Although she was just a woman, she did things that many men could not even imagine. Moreover, the rare things she cultivated were enough to make her famous for all time.
“Uncle is absolutely right. I am already completely in awe of Miss Jiang. Your words today have been a revelation to me, more enlightening than ten years of study.”
This sounds like...
He flattered Jiang Cheng, but Huo Ran's expression was very serious, not at all fake. After hearing this, Jiang Cheng felt that something was strange, but he couldn't figure out what was wrong.
"You know that's good enough, Honey. You're a girl, you shouldn't be hanging out with these men. Come with me to the backyard, leave this to them. You can't be so bad at something this simple, can you?"
Jiang Mi glanced at Huo Ran apologetically, but Huo Ran showed no emotion whatsoever, simply standing there smiling as if it didn't matter what Jiang Cheng said about him.
His temper is too good! It's completely different from when he lost his temper with his subordinates. If Jiang Cheng knew Huo Ran's true identity, he would probably regret his words just now.
"Go ahead, I've already learned it, don't worry your uncle."
Huo Ran's words were meant to help Jiang Cheng, but to Jiang Cheng, they sounded like he was teaching his daughter how to do things.
Fearing she might say something offensive, Jiang Mi quickly pulled Jiang Cheng away. Once in the backyard, she pleaded with him, "Dad, why were you so mean to Young Master Huo? It wasn't all men inside; there were women too. Besides, there were so many people there, it's alright."
That's what he said, but Jiang Cheng was still very uncomfortable.
"That won't do either. You're an unmarried girl. How can you behave like this?"
Jiang Mi didn't argue anymore. She knew what Jiang Cheng was thinking. Having lived a second life, she placed great importance on her parents' feelings. Although Huo Ran was now very important to her, he could not replace her parents.
Jiang Cheng felt much better seeing that his daughter was obedient.
When Jiang's mother came out of the kitchen, she ran into the father and daughter. She immediately knew what Jiang Cheng had done and couldn't help but roll her eyes: "Our daughter is so grown up now. It's no use keeping an eye on her. Once she gets married and has her own family, can you still watch over her every day? Why don't you just not let Honey get married and keep her at home as an old maid to keep you company?"
"What are you saying?" Jiang Cheng blushed as his mother spoke. "I just think our daughter is still young. If we keep her here for a couple more years, what if she gets tricked by bad people? Our daughter is so good."
