Chapter 66 Three Madmen

Chapter 66 Three Madmen

After taking the medicine, Cheng Ying felt a little dizzy again. She leaned against the bed, waiting for Long Buxi to finish cooking, but unexpectedly fell asleep again.

When I woke up, it was already evening outside. A brilliant sunset was floating on the horizon outside the window, and the fiery red glow of the sunset shone through the window, making the wooden house bright and warm.

Cheng Ying struggled to get out of bed. Her fractured left hand and right leg still hurt when she moved, but it was much better than in the morning.

She looked around, but Da Huang wasn't in the house; she didn't know where he had gone.

My stomach was growling with hunger, and I had no idea where Long Buxi was or if she had prepared the meal.

Cheng Ying was starving. She tried to get out of bed, hopped on one leg to the window, and called downstairs, "Long Buxi, are you home? I'm hungry!"

"Yes!" came a reply from downstairs, but it wasn't Long Buxi's voice.

Soon, the sound of someone coming upstairs could be heard from downstairs. Then the door opened, and a young woman in a light pink Miao dress walked up – it was Ya Lin.

Cheng Ying asked in surprise, "Ya Lin, what are you doing here? Where is Long Bu Xi?"

“He went to Lizhai on business and asked me to take care of you.” Yalin placed the wooden tray she was carrying on a small square table on the left side of the room, took out the food from it one by one, and sat down at the table to greet Cheng Ying, “This is the food that Brother Arno made, come and eat.”

On the table was a large bowl of glistening rice, a plate of stir-fried garlic sprouts with cured pork, a plate of stir-fried bok choy, and a bowl of egg drop soup. The portions of the dishes were small, enough for her to eat by herself.

Cheng Ying hadn't eaten for almost two days and was starving. Forgetting all about being reserved, she hopped on one foot to sit at the table and devoured the food in a flurry of activity.

Long Buxi was a very good cook. The rice was steamed to the perfect consistency, and the stir-fried garlic sprouts with cured pork was just the right amount of salty and flavorful. The stir-fried bok choy was a vibrant green and very refreshing. The egg drop soup was made with free-range eggs, which were fried to a golden brown. It was fragrant and delicious, and Cheng Ying ate it with great relish, finishing the entire meal in no time and letting out a satisfied burp.

Yalin sat opposite her, watching her finish her meal, and asked with a smile, "You really like Brother Arno's cooking?"

"I wouldn't say I like him, but I think his cooking is alright." Cheng Ying would never admit that Long Buxi's cooking suited her taste.

She wasn't familiar with Long Buxi yet, and if she praised him in front of outsiders, who knows what he would think if he found out.

Yalin rested her cheek on her left hand, looking on with interest: "Arno never cooks for outsiders, especially not for Deba (women). You're the first Deba that Arno willingly cooks for you. I heard from Arno that you're going to marry him?"

Cheng Ying was taken aback. "Long Buxi told you?"

“Yes.” Yalin nodded. “He went to Lizhai early this morning and told the old chief. The old chief and Sailan were very angry. They gathered the tribespeople and went to Lizhai to persuade Arno.”

Cheng Ying put the finished dishes on the tray, then paused upon hearing this: "Your clan elder and the people of the clan object to him marrying me?"

“Yes.” Yalin nodded again. “The old patriarch originally wanted Arno to marry Seran, but he was always unwilling. This time, he won’t compromise either. Seran is very jealous, so you have to be careful of her.”

Cheng Ying recalled the last time Sai Lan asked her if she liked Long Bu Xi. She said no, and Sai Lan said that if she lied to her, she would have to pay the price.

Long Buxi is currently in the village, spreading the news that he and she are getting married. Given the stubborn and eccentric nature of Miao women, Sailan will probably try every means to take revenge on her once she finds out.

Yalin saw what she was thinking and smiled slightly, "You don't need to worry. As long as you stay by Arno's side and don't leave his house, Seran won't have a chance to deal with you."

Cheng Ying: ......

This statement is meaningless. She is a postwoman who delivers mail to the people in the village. She can't always have Long Buxi accompany her. There will be times when she is alone. If she encounters Sailan then, she might really be retaliated against.

Thinking about this, Cheng Ying felt a headache coming on.

She suddenly remembered something, "Yalin, have you seen my dog?"

“It’s downstairs, gnawing on bones.” Yalin pointed downwards. “Arno, give it lots of bones, heads.”

Cheng Ying felt relieved and wanted to talk to Ya Lin, but Ya Lin stood up and said, "I have other things to do. You, don't leave. Listen to Brother Arno." After saying that, she left with the wooden tray without waiting for Cheng Ying's reaction.

As soon as she left, the room became quiet. Cheng Ying, whose arms and legs were broken, couldn't move around, so she leaned against the wooden window and looked outside.

On an autumn evening, Pucang Village is exceptionally tranquil. The fiery red glow of the sunset illuminates the stilted houses that are layered upon each other throughout the village, casting a beautiful light on the houses and the trees and bamboo groves that can be seen everywhere in the village.

The faint sounds of children playing and laughing can be heard in the village, along with the chirping of insects and birds in the woods. The river flows gently through the village, making a gurgling sound. These sounds are not noisy; on the contrary, they form a relaxing symphony in the valley, making one feel comfortable and peaceful.

A gentle autumn breeze carried the fragrance of unknown flowers and plants, as well as the warm, moist air from the river just two hundred meters from Longbuxi's stilted house. Cheng Ying found staying in Pucang Village far more comfortable than she had imagined.

When Cheng Ying realized she had this thought, she thought it must be because her mindset had changed that she had this idea.

The first time she fell off the mountain, she stayed in Long Buxi's stilted house. She was not familiar with Long Buxi and had heard all sorts of rumors about him. She felt a great awe for Long Buxi and subconsciously wanted to leave him and the stilted house. Naturally, she had no time to appreciate the beautiful scenery of the village.

On several subsequent visits to the village, I was always delivering mail and parcels. I had to rush back to the post office to complete the task, so I came and went in a hurry and didn't have time to calm down and appreciate the beauty of the village.

Now it seems that she has accepted Long Buxi's 'love proposal' and is just living in the moment, having given up on everything.

Cheng Ying was naturally unwilling to be with Long Buxi like this. Long Buxi's actions towards her were nothing short of taking advantage of her misfortune.

She even suspected that the giant python that suddenly appeared in the cave was likely summoned by Long Buxi to force her to submit; otherwise, why would he have appeared immediately when the python coiled around her?

On second thought, if Long Buxi could really summon a giant python to deal with her, that would be too fantastical.

No matter how powerful the Miao people's Gu magic is, it's impossible for them to control such a large python.

If Long Buxi could really command such a huge python to deal with her, then this person's scheming and cunning were so deep that he would stop at nothing to marry her and be with her. His madness was comparable to Wei Muchen in her previous life. Cheng Yingguang found it terrifying to think about.

She was more inclined to believe that Long Buxi hadn't actually left after she fainted; he was waiting near the cave for her to reach her breaking point and beg for mercy or help before he would reappear.

Unexpectedly, a python appeared and threatened her life. He took this opportunity to force her to submit.

Regardless of the possibility, Long Buxi's act of taking advantage of others' misfortune and using their kindness to blackmail them is not the behavior of a good person.

Cheng Ying felt a sense of dread at the same time that this madman, who was full of lies and would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, was also excitedly shouting in her blood. She couldn't help but cover her mouth and burst into laughter by the window.

Wei Muchen was reborn just like her. If he knew that she was about to marry another man, he would be furious and would try every means to deal with Long Buxi, wanting Long Buxi dead.

Unfortunately, Long Buxi is a Miao person, the future clan chief of Pucang Village, the future Miao king, and also a madman. How could Long Buxi possibly let Wei Muchen ruin his plans?

These two lunatics are bound to fight each other over her, resulting in mutual destruction.

Whoever wins, she will be theirs.

Compared to Wei Muchen, Cheng Ying preferred Long Buxi.

After all, Long Buxi's stunning appearance was the most handsome man she had ever seen in her life, and Long Buxi had never done anything to wrong her.

Miao people are known for their stubbornness. Once they commit to someone, they will never change their minds for life, like wild wolves. They are devoted to one person for life, and even if their partner dies, the other half will never seek a new partner, let alone cheat or betray their partner.

Long Buxi was the same; with his sinister and crazy appearance, it was clear that he would never do anything to cheat on or betray her.

Long Buxiguang completely outshone Wei Muchen, who wanted both of them and constantly cheated on her, in terms of appearance and the stubbornness of the Miao people.

Cheng Ying eagerly awaited the day the two would clash. So what if they were madmen? Wasn't she a madwoman too?

In her past life, no matter how Wei Muchen tormented her, she never compromised and always found opportunities to fight back desperately. In the end, she personally sent him to prison and avenged half a lifetime of revenge.

Could she really not see through Long Buxi's actions towards her in this life? She was just going along with him to see what tricks he was up to.

Now, by compromising with the situation, they want to use Long Buxi to deal with Wei Muchen.

If she could use Long Buxi's help to completely eliminate Wei Muchen without harming others or implicating anyone, she wouldn't mind being with Long Buxi.

Anyway, she has to find a man to marry to appease her parents. Long Buxi is good-looking, so marrying him is not a bad idea.

When three madmen get together, they're bound to cause trouble.

Cheng Ying leaned against the window and laughed for a long time. Then she spaced out for a while. Feeling really bored, she waited for Da Huang to come upstairs and played with Da Huang for a while. But Long Bu Xi didn't come back by evening, and she got sleepy and went back to bed.

She didn't sleep well that night, feeling something cold and icy around her, making her unable to move and feeling uncomfortable all over.

When she woke up the next day, she realized something was wrong.

A long, pale arm tightly embraced her slender waist, while a long, warm body pressed against her back. The person's head was close to her neck, and their lips were almost touching her skin. They were embracing each other in an extremely ambiguous manner.

Long Buxi was sleeping next to her.

No wonder she felt like she was being strangled by a snake while sleeping last night, unable to move at all. It turns out that Long Buxi got into her bed and was sleeping with her in his arms.

Cheng Ying breathed a sigh of relief, then her eyes widened suddenly—something was wrong!

How did Long Buxi end up in her bed? And why is he so naturally embracing her while sleeping?

She instinctively cried out and pushed Long Buxi away.
