Chapter 36

Chapter 36

The young swordsman pushed open the door of the inn, walked out to the second-floor corridor, and looked down at the lobby below which was bustling with activity early in the morning.

The camera following behind him took a bird's-eye view of the lobby, then turned to his profile.

The young man walked towards the stairs with an expressionless face and stepped down.

Another camera pans over and moves back as he goes down the stairs.

The young man walked down to the lobby and headed for a table in the corner. When he passed a table with four people sitting there, he suddenly stopped and his eyes fell on a knife on the table.

The owner of the knife was a middle-aged man in shorts, his back to He Tong. He seemed to notice He Tong's gaze, half-turned around and looked up, even showing a friendly smile.

The young man glanced coldly at the owner of the knife, then walked to the empty table in the corner and sat down.

At this moment, the already noisy entrance to the inn suddenly erupted in a louder commotion. Then, a girl in a bright purple dress walked briskly in.

The girl glanced around the inn and soon spotted the young man. She rushed over, stamping her feet and pouting, "Didn't I tell you to wait for me? Why did you run off first? It took me so long to catch up!"

The young man looked up at her, still with a cold expression, and said lightly: "Go home."

"No, I'm going to follow you!" The girl pouted. "Besides, my dad heard the rumors and is on his way here. I'm going to wait for him here."

"Card!"

As soon as Liu Ke called out "Cut", the originally stagnant atmosphere in the field suddenly dissipated.

He waved over here and said, "Come here, Zhizhi. I'll explain the play to you. The others can take a break first."

"Okay, Uncle Liu."

Miao Zhizhi obediently went to listen to Liu Ke's talk about the play.

Although Liu Ke has high requirements when filming, he is not the kind of director who scolds people when there is an NG. Whenever there is a scene that cannot be done, he will call the director over and explain it slowly, and then patiently reshoot it one by one.

Although reshooting again and again was very torturous and also brought huge psychological pressure to the actors, at least they were not scolded in front of so many extras and crew members, so they were able to save some face.

He Tong and Ye Yuze walked to the rest area and sat down, taking the cold tea handed to them by Xiao Zheng. Lingling was busy adjusting the small fan to blow air for them, and Xiaoyu was preparing to touch up her makeup.

Lingling saw that she was vaguely surrounded by bodyguards, so she lowered her voice and said, "Oh, I don't know how many takes I'll have to take to pass this time."

Xiaoyu also complained a bit: "Whenever her scenes come up, it takes up so much time. I really don't know how she got into the crew."

He Tong smiled and said, "Xiao Zheng, go and order some cold drinks to give out to the extras and staff."

Xiao Zheng nodded in agreement.

Ye Yuze had a special effects face and frowned slightly while drinking herbal tea with a straw.

He Tong immediately asked worriedly, "Brother, what's wrong? Does your face feel uncomfortable?"

"No." Ye Yuze released the straw. "I doubt she can act out the scene of being bewitched later on."

He Tong glanced at the two people who were discussing the play over there and chuckled: "It's okay, there are ways to shoot it even if it can't be performed."

Ye Yuze raised his eyebrows: "What rumors have you heard?"

He Tong just blinked mysteriously and said nothing.

He actually didn't hear anything, but just vaguely remembered some things from his previous life.

He Tong had never seen the film "Bladeless Blade" in his previous life. Because Liu Ke's filming schedules were long, He Tong hadn't considered working with him and hadn't made a point of watching any of his films. However, after the film was released, it caused a bit of a stir. It was said that Liu Ke was attacked by fans of a certain celebrity, accusing him of changing the script mid-filming and deliberately cutting the celebrity's role. Some radical fans even sent him threatening letters.

Now it seems that the star whose role was "intentionally cut" was probably Miao Zhizhi.

After the break, we continued filming.

The others are fine, they are just background characters, but He Tong, as the co-star, has to be in good shape time and time again to work with the cast.

In the end, this scene was shot seventeen or eighteen times.

After finally passing the checkpoint, when He Tong walked back, he saw that the camera that was taking close-up photos of Miao Zhizhi was turned off. It was obvious that Liu Ke had given up on her close-up.

He Tong shrugged calmly and took everyone back to the dressing room to remove their makeup and change clothes.

As He Tong expected, Liu Ke called him and Ye Yuze over that night.

"Oh, I thought that all I needed to do was teach it patiently, but it seems I overestimated myself." Liu Ke grabbed his head and sighed.

He Tong didn't respond, only saying: "I don't know why you asked us to come..."

Liu Ke gestured for them to sit down and poured them some water.

"You're big investors after all, so I have to explain this to you. As for that girl, someone did recommend her. Editor Mao and I both owe that person a big favor, so we couldn't bring ourselves to refuse. But they're not unreasonable either. They've already agreed to rewrite the play, as long as we keep her role."

As he spoke, Liu Ke took two stacks of paper and handed them to the two of them.

"This is the newly revised part by Mao. Both of your roles have changed a little. There will be an additional scene with Ze's other look."

He Tong flipped through it roughly.

In the original script, Miao Zhizhi's character was bewitched by the villain and led the gang of jianghu gathered in the small town to the ancient tomb.

Since Miao Zhizhi couldn't deliver the performance the director wanted, that scene was removed entirely and replaced with the "mastermind" doing it himself. Of course, the villain wouldn't appear so early in the film, so a scene between him and the young swordsman was added to fill the gap and improve the plot's logic.

"Let's start by filming your new rivalry scene tomorrow. Is that okay?"

He Tong and Ye Yuze exchanged a glance and replied with a smile, "Okay. Then let's go back and rehearse the scene first."

Liu Ke happily sent the two out: "Thank you for your hard work, I'm relieved to leave it to you two."

The next morning, Ye Yuze changed into his second look in the play.

He was wearing a red and black robe that looked like it was stained with blood, with long, dry yellow hair hanging down his head. He wore a bronze mask in the shape of an animal head that covered most of his face, revealing a pair of pitch-black eyes. The sharp fangs in the animal's mouth extended to both sides of his pale lips. The whole person had a kind of crazy and morbid beauty.

The moment Ye Yuze finished dressing up, He Tong's heart started beating wildly - he had never imagined that Brother Ye would be like this!

Lingling was already holding her face and quietly screaming, "What a crazy beauty! She's definitely going to gain a lot of fans once the movie comes out!"

He Tong pulled his thoughts back to normal after hearing her words and warned her, "This type of character tends to attract younger fans. We need to have the studio increase their control over the fans."

Lingling smiled and nodded. "Don't worry, young boss. All the fan leaders in the fan group are from our studio, and they're all very careful. Young fans may be impulsive, but they're also easy to guide. As long as no one stirs up trouble, everyone's very well-behaved and loving in the current atmosphere."

The script supervisor came to inform that the shooting location was ready, and He Tong and Ye Yuze walked out side by side.

He Tongtong kept turning his head to look at his brother Ye, and finally couldn't help but whispered: "Brother, if you dress like this to seduce me, I will definitely not be able to escape."

Ye Yuze also turned his head to look over, his dark eyes seemed to be able to see through people's hearts.

"So you've thought about running away?"

He Tong paused in shock, then reacted quickly, quickly following and reaching out to pull Ye Yuze's hand hidden under his wide sleeves.

"How could that be? Just snap your fingers and I'll come right over!"

It's impossible to escape, it's impossible to escape in this life!

Ye Yuze curled his lips, moved his held fingers, and gently scratched He Tong's palm.

He Tong immediately smiled so hard that his teeth were showing, as if he had drunk three pounds of pure honey.

The result was that he burst out laughing shortly after filming started.

Liu Ke helplessly called out, "What's going on? Xiaotong, what good thing happened to you? You're so happy."

He Tong reached out and pulled his face to the sides, trying to straighten the upturned corners of his mouth.

Liu Ke quickly stopped him: "Don't pinch it until it turns red!"

He Tong patted his cheeks gently again and tightened his face.

"I'm sorry, Director Liu, I'll definitely pass the next one!"

There were no lights on in the simple room of the inn, only the moonlight from outside the window came in, bringing out a hazy glow.

When the young swordsman opened the door, he saw the masked man in red leaning against the window, holding a wine jug in one hand and a wine glass in the other, drinking by himself at will.

There was an almost imperceptible pause in the young man's movements, and then he naturally closed the door and bolted it.

When he turned back, he asked coldly, "Where is the swordsman?"

The man in red raised one corner of his lip and pulled out a somewhat evil smile: "Don't worry, you will know soon."

The young man walked slowly towards him and stopped a few steps in front of him.

The man in red raised his head and gulped down a glass of wine. He smacked his lips and held the wine pot out to He Tong: "Want a sip?"

The young man didn't even look at the wine jug. He just whispered, "You used me and attracted so many people. What do you want to do?"

The man in red casually put away the wine jug and continued to pour himself wine: "So you knew it too. I thought you didn't care."

The young man stared at him without blinking.

The man in red twirled his wine glass. "Believe me, you will definitely see the Swordsman. However, things have come to this point, and what happens next is beyond your control."

The young man continued to stare at him silently, and with his left hand he pushed open the scabbard spring of the long sword in his hand, ready to draw the sword at any time.

The man in red seemed completely unaware and continued slowly, "Since you've been used by me, I'm giving you a piece of advice: let your little fiancée leave right away."

The young man frowned and suddenly drew his sword and slashed forward.

The man in red threw the wine glass in his hand forward, knocking his sword aside, and at the same time he turned over and flew out of the window.

The young man rushed to the window, but there was no one outside.

"Card!"

Liu Kezhong looked at the playbacks on several monitors and raised his hand to indicate, "Passed."

As soon as He Tong left the scene, he quickly walked towards Ye Yuze who was untying the wire.

"Brother, I felt like I swung the sword a little too hastily just now. Did it scratch you anywhere?"

"It's okay." Ye Yuze shook his head, "I'll go back to the dressing room to change my look."

As the group was walking out of the set, they happened to meet Miao Zhizhi who was coming over.

Miao Zhizhi no longer had the enthusiasm she had before. She just nodded politely and walked straight over.

Lingling looked back and whispered, "I think she'll probably incite her fans to 'seek justice' for her."

He Tong was in a good mood today and didn't bother to argue. He said cheerfully, "The last person who did this, Yang Hedong, was already ridiculed by the entire internet. I want to see if she dares to say something like 'The actor stole my role' again."

Lingling shook her head in amusement. "As an actress, it would be really ridiculous for her to say that the actor stole her spotlight."
