Chapter 10 Farewell
Before we knew it, the day of departure had arrived.
Before dawn, Shang Ruyi was already dressed. When she arrived at the gate, several carriages and servants were already waiting there.
Shen Shiyan and Madam Yu stood at the door, giving instructions to their subordinates.
Shen Shiyan said to the team leader Gao Feng, "The world is not peaceful these days, so you must be careful on the road and only take the main roads. You must stay at the official post station tonight. I have someone go and make arrangements in advance. As long as nothing unexpected happens, we should be able to reach Taiyuan tomorrow."
Gao Feng was a young man in his early twenties, dark-skinned and tall, and utterly loyal to the Shen family.

Yu, standing to the side, said to her maid Tushe'er, "Now that Ruyi has married into the family, you must serve her well."
Tushe'er was the daughter of Yu's head maid who accompanied her in her dowry. After her mother passed away, she was raised in the Shen family and grew up with Shang Ruyi. The two were like sisters. She was clever and quick-witted and a very reliable person.
She smiled and said, "Don't worry, Madam."
Madam Yu then whispered, "If Ruyi suffers any injustice over there, you mustn't pretend to be blind; you have to let us know."
Shen Shiyan laughed and said, "What are you saying?"
Madam Yu said, "I don't care. I haven't flicked a single fingernail of Ruyi all these years. It's the same even after she gets married. We can't let anyone bully her."
"You..."
Shen Shiyan shook his head with a helpless smile.
Upon hearing these words, Shang Ruyi felt a lump in her throat and whispered, "Uncle, Aunt."
The Shen couple immediately turned around.
For this wedding, Madam Yu specially made several new outfits for her. Today, she wore a light red dress, simple yet exquisite. With a little makeup, such as brushing her eyebrows and applying light lipstick, her skin looked as white as snow and her features as beautiful as a painting. In particular, her big, round eyes were calm and bright. Standing there, she looked as serene as a fairy who had stepped out of a painting.
She was clearly an innocent young girl before, but looking at her now, she seems completely different from before.
She was about to get married and would no longer be their carefree little girl.
Overwhelmed with grief, Madam Yu embraced Shang Ruyi tightly and sobbed, "My Ruyi, why are you getting married..."

Yu pulled her up and wept bitterly. People around them rushed to comfort her. The group shed a few tears as they parted. Only then did Shang Ruyi get into the carriage surrounded by the crowd.
When the appointed time arrived, the convoy departed.
As the convoy disappeared at the end of the long street, Madam Yu leaned on Shen Shiyan's shoulder, sobbing, "My precious niece, just like that, given away..."
Upon hearing this, Shen Shiyan and his wife embraced and wept together.
However, neither he nor his wife noticed that a horse-drawn carriage had turned out of the alley and was slowly following behind the wedding procession.
