Chapter 76 Whose dog are you?!
The Yuwen family's troops immediately stopped. Yuwen Ye frowned and turned to look at him.
Wang Shaoji's sinister eyes swept over the carriages in the procession. Several people in the carriages had just been able to lift their curtains to look out, but in one carriage, the curtains were lowered and no one looked out as it passed by.
This was the carriage that Shang Ruyi was riding in.
Wang Shaoji glanced at the large carriage, then looked coldly at Yuwen Ye and said, "Second Young Master, this carriage is quite large."
"So what if it's big?"
"Such a large carriage, it probably can't seat more than one person, right?"
Yuwen Ye frowned.
Before he could say anything more, Wang Shaoji waved his hand and ordered one of his soldiers, "Search!"
"yes!"
The soldier obeyed the order, immediately jumped off his horse, rushed to the carriage, and lifted the hanging curtain.
Just as he lifted the curtain, he also grabbed a piece of skirt in his hand and lifted it up as well.
Before the soldier could react, he was kicked hard in the face, falling off the carriage and landing on his back! From inside the carriage came Shang Ruyi's loud, angry shouts: "You bastard, whose dog are you, daring to lift my skirt?!"
Wang Shaoji was stunned.
Shang Ruyi continued to curse and yell, "Beat this scoundrel's dog!"
Mu Xian and Tu She'er, who were already suppressing their anger while following the carriage, immediately rushed forward and beat the soldier upon hearing this. As they beat him, Mu Xian cursed, "You bastard, who gave you the audacity to offend our young mistress!"
Although the soldier was also a member of the Black Armor Cavalry and possessed extraordinary combat prowess, he was in the wrong today and dared not retaliate. He was beaten so badly that he rolled around on the ground and finally crawled back to Wang Shaoji's side with a bloodied head.
Wang Shaoji said somewhat awkwardly, "What's in the carriage—"
Yuwen Ye said with a stern face, "She is my wife."
"..."
"General Wang, what are you trying to do!"
Seeing his fierce expression, Wang Shaoji also became somewhat intimidated. Although the two families had a deep-seated feud, the idea of leading soldiers to lift up a noblewoman's skirt would likely be ridiculed by the entire world if word got out.
Wang Shaoji could only say, "I'm sorry."
Yuwen Ye looked at him coldly.
Wang Shaoji gritted his teeth and said, "After things are settled here, I will send that divine crossbow to the Duke's mansion."
Yuwen Ye continued to look at him coldly.
Wang Shaoji was already restless and dared not linger any longer. He simply bowed and said "excuse me" a few times before waving to the soldiers behind him. The group of men slunk away.
Yuwen Ye didn't say much, nor did he linger. He simply instructed the group to cross the river and continue onward. After traveling a long distance, as darkness fell, the group finally stopped at the edge of a dense forest.
Because of the delay, they had to camp out tonight. Yuwen Ye told the people in the group to start a fire and cook on the spot, while he and Shang Ruyi sat in the corner.
The carriage stopped in front of them, separated from their family.
Mu Xian lit a bonfire for them and brought some hot water. Yuwen Ye took it and said indifferently, "Alright, you can go down now. Don't come over unless I call you."
Mu Xian cautiously replied, "Yes."
After saying that, he withdrew.
Now, only Yuwen Ye and Shang Ruyi were left guarding a campfire, the flickering firelight illuminating the carriage in front of them, which stood like a screen, making it difficult to see clearly.
Yuwen Ye suddenly said, "Aren't you coming down?"
