Chapter 4, Major Events in Phoenix.

The major events here, of course, don't include the game's own history, but rather the parts related to the players. So now, this page displays a single line of golden text: In 2044 AD, player Li Bai, after enduring hardships, obtains the Phoenix City Lord's Seal, thus opening a new chapter in the game.

The first thing Yang Jia noticed was not the city lord's seal, but the four words "Player Li Bai".

At that moment, Yang Jia even felt as if her eyes were burned by those four words. It was as if her most secret thoughts were being torn apart and exposed to the sunlight, making her realize clearly that the secret thoughts she had once harbored were nothing but wishful thinking.

The word "player" separates the two of them into two completely different worlds.

This isn't even a question of whether they can fall in love, but rather a conflict between different species at different levels. Have you ever seen a human fall in love with an ant? No. And in the eyes of all players, including Yang Jia himself in the past, NPCs are no different than ants. When playing games, who cares about the NPC's thoughts? Who cares about the NPC's life?

She closed the travel brochure and stood there silently for a long time.

Around her, people came and went, cars streamed by. They moved, chatted, and laughed, their expressions lively and their movements swift, each one possessing their own joys and sorrows, seemingly without a flaw. She was one of them.

Yang Jia felt the loneliness of being alone in the world again. But she quickly suppressed it, trying to focus on the message she had just read. She skipped over the four words and finally focused on the three words "City Lord Seal."

She, Yang Jia, although just an NPC, is ridiculously a veteran game fan.

So she also realized the huge impact of these three words, and roughly speculated the future direction of the game's main storyline.

Hundreds of large cities operate independently, which gives players the opportunity to show their talents. As long as they seize power and become the city lord, they can make this city their base, and then start to conquer the world.

These four words seemed to carry an endless murderous aura, causing Yang Jia to tremble all over.

If she was just an ordinary player, she might jump up and down with excitement. After all, such a big investment shows that the game is very playable.

Unfortunately she is not.

All she could think of now was the death and disaster that this war, which would last for an unknown period of time, would bring to this once peaceful and harmonious land, and the sadness of being alone and powerless in the face of such a situation.

If fate is already determined, why do we have to let her wake up and face it all soberly and painfully?

There is a saying that the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.

Yang Jia didn't think she had much ability, but these unexpected discoveries weighed heavily on her mind, weighing heavily on her, almost suffocating her. She didn't think she had the ability, but she couldn't help but wonder, is there any way out? Is there a way out? What could she do to bring about even the smallest change?

Just then, the cell phone rang.

It was an unfamiliar phone call. Yang Jia thought about it and picked up the call.

The next moment, Bai Ting's energetic voice came through the receiver, "Hello? Yang Jia, is that you?"

Yang Jia's body stiffened slightly, then quickly relaxed.

"It's me," she said.

"Are you free now?" Bai Ting asked, "Let's meet at the hotel. I borrowed the hotel's phone; we haven't bought ours yet. Would you like to come with us?"

"Okay." Yang Jia responded.

The moment she received the call, she suddenly figured it out.

When faced with an inescapable torrent sweeping across the heavens and earth, the only thing to do is to blend in and become a part of it. If there's a chance to be the leader, then there's even a chance to guide or even dominate the direction of the torrent.

Can it be done? Yang Jia didn't know.
