Chapter 99 "HE·Gardenia Blooms"

The old man seemed to see a ship in the distant east, sailing towards this world.

The moonlight rises, burning the torrent of the sea and the blue of the sky, breaking through the icebergs, and spreading the magnificent clear white to the world.

The skyline stretches to the end, quietly watching everything rise and fall.

In comparison, the old man's figure looking out seems so small.

He wanted to fly on the wind, jump off the mountain, climb to the sky, and do everything that mortals could not do. However, his hands and feet were bound, his throat was blocked, and he could only gaze at the grand and noble moonlight.

A beam of moonlight fell into his palm. He lowered his head and saw the silvery moonlight flowing through his fingers and through his eyes, surging like a stream.

At this moment, his chest seemed to have the same surge, which was called "eternity".

Boom, boom, boom.

Boom, boom, boom.

"[…The boy walked a very long way, holding an oil lamp, and finally headed in a direction he was familiar with.]"

"[He saw a wasteland with white seagulls, rolling hills, and golden sand.]"

“Yes, it is a wasteland.”

"[The boy hesitated, but still walked over.]"

"[Did he walk for so long and still get nothing in the end?]"

"[His friend, a nightingale, landed on his shoulder and called out:]"

"['Your hometown, your hometown, has been filled up!']"

"['Filled up by the wrath of the tree, by the distant gods...']"

The soft sound is like running water.

Si Que Olivers sat at the head of the bed, reading Lin Hejin's "To Si Que Olivers".

This is a story about a boy who is looking for his hometown. He sets out from the forest with an oil lamp, meets his nightingale friend, the bad frozen man, and brother Leaf along the way, and finally arrives at his hometown - the sea. However, the sea has been filled up, and the boy can never go back.

Si Que thought this was a tragic story until he turned the page again. This was the last page:

"[The boy was too dehydrated and could no longer walk, so he collapsed in the wilderness.]"

"['At least, this is my hometown, and I can be considered to have returned to my roots...' the boy thought.]

"[The boy is about to die, but he still wants to go home. Everything he does is to go home with his friends...]"

"【Just when he was about to die, he suddenly heard the surge of the sea."

"【It turned out that the friends he had helped along the way all came to his side.】"

"【With a loud crash, the wasteland sank and the sea surged up.】"

"【The boy then realized that he had come here more than once. Every time he and his friends left a footstep, the wasteland would sink a little. Until this time, the sea water finally surged up.】"

"[The nightingale and the leaf cannot enter the water. At the moment when the boy was swallowed by the sea, they waved goodbye to him with a smile.]"

"[The boy returned to the sea, to his hometown.]"

“[Here, he found happiness.]”

"【But one day, he accidentally saw the bodies of Nightingale and Leaf at the bottom of the sea. He realized that when the sea water surged up and he successfully returned home, it drowned Nightingale and Leaf who were unable to leave.】"

“[So, the boy made a deal with the witch at the bottom of the sea, and in exchange for erasing his own memory, he resurrected the nightingale and the leaf. He left the sea, carrying an oil lamp, and sent the nightingale and the leaf to the forest…]”

"【After he left, the evil witch filled up the sea.】"

"【Several years later.】"

"[The boy in the forest completed the resurrection ceremony of Nightingale and Leaf. He lost his memory and only remembered that his hometown was in the sea. He picked up the oil lamp and embarked on the road home. On the way, he met his friend Nightingale and brother Leaf...]"

"Pah!" Si Que closed the book, and he smiled and sighed:

"...You really do deserve a higher reputation, Lin Hejin."

In his opinion, it was a good story.

The old man showed a pure, happy and blessed smile.

Maybe he was still unwilling in his heart.

——If he really has no regrets, why is he still writing, still looking forward, and still expecting?

"I really like the protagonist boy in the story..." Si Que stroked the pages of the book with his fingers: "He is an upright, kind, and pure person... Can I reproduce him in the future?"

"It's my honor, I'm very grateful..." Lin Hejin's breathing became weaker and weaker. He knew that his life was over.

His eyelids drooped heavily, and he seemed to - seemed to see his younger self, holding "Lotasha, the Goddess of Life", running past the window at a brisk pace.

Smile.

When I was young, I had a wild and unrestrained smile and was full of passion, as if the world was at my feet.

This world is an idealistic meat grinder. Any ideal thrown into reality will be crushed and thrown into the lake without even a splash of water.

"I have been looking forward to it..." Lin Hejin said softly, "When will those gardenias on the branches outside my window bloom? The temperature of the four seasons in Luowasha is very special. However, I have waited for the whole autumn and winter, and it has always been in bud. Does this mean that the flower in my heart can only wither... Mr. Si Que?"

Si Que smiled and shook his head, and suddenly said: "Do you want to go back to the past? Lin Hejin."

Lin Hejin opened his eyes wide, and a sense of surprise surged in his heart: "Really... is it really possible?"
