As Gu Yuzhi directed the guards forward, his large eyes kept searching.
Shu Xiaohan's eyes could hardly take it all in: "If only Your Highness could go down and take a look, it would be wonderful. This is the time when everything is growing wildly, and it's really hard to tell just by looking at it."
Gu Yuzhi scratched his head: "Is that so?"
He said somewhat aggrievedly, "But Teacher Shu, I'm too short, not even as tall as these weeds. If I go down, Chief Secretary Xie and the others won't be able to see me."
Most importantly, there might be snakes among these weeds, and the thought terrified him.
Gu Yuzhi puffed out his cheeks in frustration and said, "I've been in the Northern Desert for over a year now, why haven't I grown as tall as Guard Qi yet!"
Everyone's serious expressions changed when they heard Gu Yuzhi's words, and they couldn't help but laugh.
Your Highness is so adorable.
He was only seven years old, yet he wanted to be as tall as Guard Qi—he never even dreamed of doing that.
Hearing Xie Changshi and the others laughing, Gu Yuzhi couldn't help but snort, "I can tell you're laughing at me!"
Don't think he didn't know; Xie Changshi privately told Xu Mama that he was growing a little slowly and asked Xu Mama to pay attention to supplementing his diet.
Chief Secretary Xie struggled to suppress his laughter, and after a long while, he said, "We did not mean that."
Guard Qi quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes, Your Highness is still young. When Your Highness reaches my age, you will definitely be taller than me!"
Upon hearing this, Gu Yuzhi hummed twice in satisfaction, put his arm around Qi's neck, and directed him to walk forward: "Hurry up, hurry up, I see an open space, let's go take a look."
Qi, the guard, simply lifted Gu Yuzhi up, put him on his shoulders, and quickened his pace to walk forward.
The surrounding weeds and trees receded faster and faster. Gu Yuzhi held Qi Shiwei's head and giggled incessantly. Before long, they arrived at their destination.
Under Gu Yuzhi's command, the group set up tents, fetched water, and cooked. Gu Yuzhi, accompanied by his guards, took his small sword and explored the area from the tents northwards.
Shu Xiaohan had drawn pictures of wheat for Gu Yuzhi before, so Gu Yuzhi roughly knew what wheat looked like. Therefore, he basically didn't need Shu Xiaohan to give him any instructions and had already identified quite a few wheat plants on his own.
The weeds had grown quite tall, and Gu Yuzhi's progress was slow, so he had no choice but to return to the camp in frustration.
Gu Yuzhi puffed out his cheeks and shuffled forward. When he looked up, he was surprised to see a snowy night he hadn't seen in a long time.
"ah!"
Gu Yuzhi shouted, lightly touched the ground with his toes, and quickly flew to Xue Ye's side, hugging her neck and laughing joyfully: "Xue Ye, Xue Ye, I missed you so much!"
Xueye turned her head and nuzzled his face, grinning silently.
The two laughed and joked for a while before Gu Yuzhi realized that his arm around Xueye was getting a little sore, and he muttered, "Xueye, have you grown up again?"
He patted Xueye's head, gesturing for her to lie down on the ground. He lay down next to her, gestured with his hand to indicate his height, then suddenly sat up, puffing out his cheeks and complaining, "It hasn't been that long since we last met, and you've grown so much taller."
He's taller than him!
He really is the shortest person in the Prince's Mansion now!
While Xueye was still asleep, Gu Yuzhi climbed onto her back and tugged at her fur: "Even you're bullying me, hmph!"
Qi, the guard, burst out laughing. Then he noticed that Xie Changshi and the others were looking at him strangely. He quickly covered his mouth and pretended to look at the sky innocently.
After letting Gu Yuzhi pluck his fur for a while, he carried him and sped off up the mountain next to them.
Gu Yuzhi hugged its neck, turned and called to Xie Changshi, "Xie Changshi, Qi Shiwei, I'm going to see Xueye's mother! I'll be back soon!"
Qi, the guard, chased after them for a while, but found that there was no trace of the wasteland they had waded through in the snowy night, so he had to return empty-handed.
Snowy Night carried Gu Yuzhi all the way up to the mountaintop, where it suddenly rushed down the mountain.
Gu Yuzhi hugged its neck tightly, her little face flushed with excitement, and she bit her lip hard to keep herself from crying out.
The scenery around us all turned into blurry images, and before long we reached the bottom of the mountain.
Upon arriving here, Gu Yuzhi felt a little dizzy and before he could react, he heard the howling of wolves rising and falling from the foot of the mountain.
Gu Yuzhi stood close to Xueye, and when he looked up, he saw wolves of all sizes, gray, brown, and black, except for Xueye and its mother, who were pure white.
The mother wolf stood at the front of the pack on a snowy night. She saw Gu Yuzhi slowly walk forward and stand in front of her. Her green eyes were fixed on him, her nose twitched slightly, and she sniffed Gu Yuzhi's scent before nudging him with her head to show her welcome.
After looking at her for a while, Gu Yuzhi suddenly hugged Xueye's mother's neck and said happily, "Xueye's mother, hello! We haven't seen each other for so long, do you still remember me?"
The wolf king nodded, opened its mouth, grabbed him, and tossed him onto its back, carrying him forward.
After bypassing the dense forest, we arrived at its territory.
Even though it was getting dark, Gu Yuzhi could still see that the scenery here was beautiful, with clear waters, sparkling river, and many pretty flowers blooming along the riverbank. Gu Yuzhi exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, it's so beautiful!"
Xueye, her face full of pride, raised her head and let out a howl, asking him, "My house is so beautiful, do you want to live here with me?"
Gu Yuzhi puffed out his cheeks and said, "No, I have very important things to do!"
He followed the wolf king around for a while, and tasted the fruit that the animals brought him. It wasn't until the moon was high in the sky that Gu Yuzhi sat back on Xueye's back.
Just as he was about to say goodbye to the wolf king, he suddenly remembered something, rolled off the ground and drew on the ground: "Mom of the Snowy Night, look at this. This plant is called wheat. If you see it, you must tell me. This is very important to me."
He pointed to the ears of wheat and said, "This is called an ear of wheat, and the stuff inside is grain."
Teacher Shu said that wheat is a very important grain, much more important than sweet potatoes and potatoes. If it could be grown on a large scale, it would be very important for both the people and the Emperor.
Xueye's mother looked down at the plant for a long time until she remembered its appearance, then let out a howl and told Xueye to take Gu Yuzhi back.
When Gu Yuzhi returned to the camp, he had already fallen asleep on Xueye's back and was taken back by Guard Qi, who was guarding the foot of the mountain.
He held Gu Yuzhi in one arm and knelt down to rub Xueye's head: "Xueye, you've worked hard."
Xueye shook his head, let out a low growl, and didn't leave, following behind Guard Qi to the camp.
For the rest of the time, Xueye stayed by Gu Yuzhi's side until they left.
