Chapter 4 The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Gu Yuzhi clenched her small hands, staring straight ahead. The next second, two balls of light appeared in front of her, gradually transforming into the shapes of Wen Xiuzhu and Shu Xiaohan.

Wen Xiuzhu smiled and waved his fan, while Shu Xiaohan looked gentle, just like in his previous dream.

Gu Yuzhi secretly pinched the back of his hand, gasping in pain, but secretly chuckled to himself.

My mother said that if it hurts, it's not a dream.

Seeing that Gu Yuzhi remained silent, Shu Xiaohan took two steps forward and squatted down, looking him straight in the eye: "Young Prince, is there something you need to tell us?"

With her suspicions confirmed, Gu Yuzhi couldn't help but smile: "Did you hear what I just said to Chief Secretary Xie?"

Seeing Wen Shu and the other shake their heads, Gu Yuzhi finally said "Oh," his little face involuntarily falling down: "Yesterday, Chief Secretary Xie took stock of the warehouse and found that the cash in the warehouse was seriously insufficient, and could only maintain operation for half a year."

To put it simply, I'm broke.

He was already broke before his mansion even started construction. If he didn't find a way to make money, this idle prince would become penniless.

Gu Yuzhi looked at Wen Xiuzhu, her eyes sparkling: "Manager Wen, do you have any solutions?"

Wen Xiuzhu snapped the fan shut and patted it lightly in his hand: "Your Highness may not have much cash on hand, but firstly, it will take time to turn over the money, and secondly, small businesses mean that the money will come in slowly and in small amounts."

He does have a lot of lucrative businesses, but this is the northern desert, and he's unfamiliar with the place, so he's likely to attract hatred. Even a prince, a powerful dragon, can't suppress a local snake, can he?

Secondly, since His Highness Prince Wen is young, he couldn't bring himself to encourage him.

Of course, what he feared most was that the system would simply erase him.

When Wen Xiuzhu mentioned that he could start a small business, Gu Yuzhi's eyes lit up instantly. But as Wen Xiuzhu's words faded, he puffed out his cheeks and asked, "Does Manager Wen mean there's no other way?"

“That’s not entirely true.” Wen Xiuzhu paced back and forth, fan in hand. “Initial difficulties naturally necessitate increasing revenue and reducing expenditure. Your Highness is trying to cut expenses within the household and strive to utilize the maximum amount of cash available. However…”

Gu Yuzhi leaned forward with his little head, blinking his eyes: "But what?"

"Your Highness, you need to take me to the commercial street outside so that I can assess the local conditions and determine what kind of business would be most suitable."

Gu Yuzhi said "Oh," and pointed to his head with his little finger: "How can I take you out to see the world? Can you fly out from here?"

Wen Xiuzhu smiled and said, "There's no need for such trouble. Your Highness only needs to make sure we don't leave when you go out."

Gu Yuzhi nodded his head as if suddenly realizing something: "I understand."

However, the worry on Gu Yuzhi's face did not lessen at all, after all, even starting a business could not solve his difficulties all at once.

Shu Xiaohan, who had been silent until now, stepped forward and asked, "Why do you all have to think about things so complicatedly?"

Gu Yuzhi raised her small face: "What's complicated?"

If you don't have money, you have to make money. Is that complicated?

Wen Xiuzhu clearly didn't understand Shu Xiaohan's meaning either, and sarcastically said, "I didn't know that Teacher Shu, who comes from an agricultural system, would know how to do business?"

Before Shu Xiaohan could speak, he continued to mock her: "Teacher Shu, no matter what industry you're in, you must remember that pretending to know what you don't is a big no-no."

He bowed to Gu Yuzhi and said, "Your Highness Prince Wen was chosen by the two of us. Before you open your mouth, please think carefully about your own words."

Here we go again!

Even a businessman who has traveled all over the country can't overcome his inherent male chauvinism.

Shu Xiaohan couldn't help but roll her eyes: "I haven't even said anything, how do you know what I'm going to say? You're pretending to know what you don't. You may know, but you couldn't come up with the most suitable solution right away either."

"You!" Wen Xiuzhu angrily flicked his sleeve, and after a while said, "I won't lower myself to the level of a woman."

If it weren't for the presence of Prince Wen, he would definitely have said that "only petty men and women are difficult to deal with!"

Shu Xiaohan ignored her and said with a smile, "Young Prince, you've already arrived in your fiefdom, shouldn't you send a letter to your brother to let him know you're safe?" She quickly spat three times to the side, "...a letter to let him know you're safe."

Gu Yuzhi nodded his little head: "Of course I have to write it. Chief Secretary Xie was just talking about this too, but I haven't started learning yet, so I need Chief Secretary Xie to write it for me."

He was curious about what Ms. Shu's method was, since she seemed so confident.

Shu Xiaohan chuckled, rubbing her index finger and thumb together: "It doesn't matter who writes it for you, as long as the sentiment is yours. Your Highness, have you ever heard the saying, 'A letter from home is worth a thousand pieces of gold'?"

Gu Yuzhi didn't understand what Shu Xiaohan's gesture meant, but he found it a bit funny, so he copied it and said with certainty, "Never heard of it."

Wen Xiuzhu's disdainful expression gradually faded, and his gaze finally settled properly on Shu Xiaohan.

Shu Xiaohan waved her hand dismissively: "It's normal that you haven't heard of Du Fu's poems, but you only need to understand the literal meaning."

She stood up, pacing back and forth with her hands behind her back: "Young Prince, don't you intend to ask for anything in return for this letter from home?"

What are the key benefits?

Wen Xiuzhu's eyes lit up instantly! He slapped his palm hard with his fan. How come he hadn't thought of such a brilliant way to get something for nothing!

Gu Yuzhi gaped, his eyes filled with bewilderment: "Ask the Emperor for benefits? How is that possible!"

If his elder brother cared about him, he wouldn't have exiled him to the northern desert.

"Are you stupid?" Shu Xiaohan squatted down and looked at Gu Yuzhi at eye level. "In modern times, there's a saying: 'The squeaky wheel gets the grease.' When you ask Xie Changshi to write the letter home, make it more polished, play the victim, cry a little, let your brother know how miserable you are now, let him know how much you care about him, and the money will come."

"How is this possible!"

Gu Yuzhi shook his little head as if it were a rattle drum.

Having lived in the deep palace for so many years, he knew better than anyone how worthless tears were.

“Your Highness, I also think it’s feasible.” Wen Xiuzhu suddenly spoke up, “The Emperor’s decision to place your fief in the northern desert has already caused a lot of controversy. If the ministers were to learn of your dire situation at this time, they would naturally put pressure on the Emperor.”

Although he was a royal merchant, he still had some knowledge of the affairs of the imperial court.

The more he thought about it, the more ingenious Shu Xiaohan's words seemed: "Your Highness has just arrived in the northern desert, which is precisely the time when the ministers sympathize with you. If you ask the Emperor for money now, you will surely be able to get some."

Gu Yuzhi's mouth was agape...

Is this really okay?

Why not give it a try? What if it really makes money?

He clenched his little hands into fists. He was going to write a letter to let the others know he was safe anyway, wasn't he?

Gu Yuzhi looked up at Shu Xiaohan and nodded: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease, I'll remember that."
