Chapter 5: Further Development

Chapter 5: Further Development

Chen Shuo glanced at his hand, which was in a cast, and realized that he had hit the man's severed hand, not that he had been knocked away by a speeding motorcycle.

Lu Shangyan squinted at him, and seeing that he didn't leave, he repeated in a low voice, "Pay up."

His appearance didn't seem like he was injured; it looked more like he was provoking someone.

Chen Shuo was so angry that he couldn't even speak properly: "Last time you and that other guy you were flirting with made me stay in the hospital for four days. How are you going to settle this!"

Lu Shangyan recalled that Pei Yumin had set up many possibilities at the hospital that day, fearing that Chen Shuo would seek revenge in the future, and had taught him the corresponding emergency response measures for each possibility. He never expected that he would actually encounter it today.

So he mimicked Pei Yumin's tone and replied, "Who knows if you deliberately fell after I left to frame me?"

He didn't call the police at the time, and so much time has passed that he really can't cause trouble for Lu Shangyan again.

After leaving the hospital, unable to swallow his anger, he sought help from his uncle. However, his uncle, Tian Sheng, who had always been on his side, turned around and berated him, warning him never to provoke Lu Shangyan again. He said that the principal had secretly warned him to behave himself and not cause trouble, or he would be the one to suffer the consequences!

From his freshman year to his junior year, over two years, Chen Shuo has never been interested in Lu Shangyan.

Furthermore, Lu Shangyan was clearly a poor, uneducated fellow from a small town. Apart from being good-looking, tall, fair-skinned, and academically gifted, he was utterly useless and usually just a dull, unresponsive blockhead.

In his eyes, he had always been a subservient grandson, someone he could easily bully. Now, the person he had been bullying for over two years had suddenly stepped on his head, and he simply couldn't accept it.

Especially since he was always "popular" at school, he had never suffered such a great loss before.

He had been verbally abused by Tian Sheng for an entire afternoon, and afterwards he was seething with anger; he had to avenge this humiliation himself.

Thinking of this, Chen Shuo clenched his fist and said sarcastically, "Did you sleep with some school leader? Otherwise, why would he be so supportive of you?"

"How many people have you slept with? How many times have you sold your ass? Such a big thing, and it was all suppressed in half an hour."

Lu Shangyan glared at him: "Watch your mouth. If you're dirty, everything you see will look dirty."

He didn't want to waste time here. Last time he was lucky and didn't lose money when the fight broke out. If it happened again, judging from Chen Shuo's attitude, he might lose all his savings.

Although he had no family wealth at all, a few hundred yuan is still money.

So before Chen Shuo could speak again, he preemptively said, "Will you pay me or not? If you don't, I'm calling the police."

Chen Shuo frowned, thinking that he was deliberately changing the subject because he had touched a nerve and was feeling guilty.

He gave a smug, self-satisfied grin, pulled two hundred yuan from his pocket, threw it at Lu Shangyan, and ran downstairs.

"You just wait, it won't be long before you and all those other men who sleep with you and protect you are kneeling down and apologizing to me!"

Lu Shangyan got up from the ground and stuffed two hundred yuan into the phone case of his bomb machine.

Such a phone wouldn't even get a second glance from a junk collector, greatly reducing the probability of money being stolen.

He then quickly returned to his bedroom and packed his few belongings.

Pei Yumin obediently stood at the school gate waiting for him, and at the same time, she did not forget to send a message to Tang Suichen to express her gratitude.

[m: My good brother is in my heart. This afternoon I thought you were just jealous that I found true love before you, so you didn't want to teach me how to pursue someone.]

[m: But I didn't expect you to personally go see Shang Shang tonight. His attitude towards me is much better than a few days ago. Good brother, this time, I'll personally go talk to my dad about the cooperation he wants.]

Tang Suichen rolled his eyes in exasperation, inwardly complaining, but what he typed out was:

[Good brother, no need for thanks.]

Pei Yumin had a smile on his face, but as soon as Lu Shangyan got close, he noticed something was wrong and asked him nervously, "Why are your knees red?"

Lu Shangyan seemed unconcerned: "A dog ran out and barked a lot just now. I bumped into it when I dodged it, but the other party compensated me two hundred, so I guess I made a profit."

Didn't I make a profit? I got my money back from treating everyone today, and even got an extra two dollars.

Pei Yumin said, "Weren't they on leashes? Is there no one in charge of such a big school?"

Lu Shangyan continued without changing his expression: "Don't worry, he's a manageable mad dog for now. I actually hope he comes out and hits me a few more times. Next time I'll definitely ask for five hundred."

Pei Yumin was not stupid at all in this regard, and immediately understood that the mad dog he was talking about was Chen Shuo: "Next time you do this, you have to contact me immediately and I will help you solve it."

Lu Shangyan countered with, "How do you plan to solve this?"

Pei Yumin was stumped by the question; he almost forgot that he was still just an ordinary office worker.

Just grit your teeth and say, "I entered the workforce a few years earlier than you, so I can get my buddies to beat him up."

Lu Shangyan couldn't help but chuckle: "Playing the role of a gangster?"

But Chen Shuo didn't cause them as much trouble as they expected, and indirectly gave them, the two poor people, money to help them make ends meet.

On the contrary, for four days in a row, he didn't seem to want to cause any trouble at all, as if he had changed his personality, which made Lu Shangyan feel a little uncomfortable.

More than these things, Lu Shangyan was afraid that Chen Shuo would actually use his stupid brain to come up with some way that would be difficult for him to solve, and that he would suffer in vain.

However, he soon lost interest in thinking about these things, because someone had already set their sights on him before Chen Shuo could.

It was still that kind of overly blatant staring.

It literally means wanting to stare at him after he's naked.

Since Lu Shangyan joined the company, the man has come three times, and each time his expression while checking in was quite meaningful.

At first, Lu Shangyan could only try his best to avoid it and pretend he didn't see it, but this time the man was wearing the same clothes as Pei Yumin, and he couldn't help but take a few more glances.

But the other party seemed to have received some kind of signal. When taking the room key, they grabbed his hand and said, "I've been here so many times, and I always stay in the most expensive suite. You must be getting a lot of commission, right?"

Lu Shangyan shook his head: "I'm here part-time, and I only get paid a salary and overtime pay."

The other person narrowed their eyes and said with certainty, "You like men, don't you?"

The topic changed so quickly that Lu Shangyan didn't react for a moment: "Was I that obvious?"

The other person smiled gently: "The way you look at me is very naked; to me, it's a sexual invitation."

Lu Shangyan's expression stiffened: "Then you are indeed quite sensitive, keenly sensing that I did not extend an invitation."

The man gave an awkward, short laugh: "Perhaps I misunderstood."

These words left Lu Shangyan speechless, his clenched fists trembling: "I just noticed that the clothes you're wearing are the same as my roommate's."

The man pondered the word "roommate": "There are only six of these clothes in the world. Although it's a niche brand, the market price has already reached 160,000 yuan per piece."

"If your boyfriend could afford it, you wouldn't need to work such a hard part-time job here anymore."

Lu Shangyan became serious, these words made him very uncomfortable: "He is not my boyfriend."

His voice was already a little displeased, but when the other person heard that he didn't have a boyfriend, his eyes lit up instantly: "Not a boyfriend, then is that considered a live-in friend with benefits?"

Lu Shangyan threw the room card on the table, his tone becoming much harsher: "Just a regular roommate. Not everyone who likes men wants to have a relationship with the same sex next to them. Your words have offended me."

The man's mouth opened slightly, and his ears gradually turned red. After a moment of awkward silence, his usual gentle smile reappeared on his face. He took out his business card and placed it on the table: "I'm sorry, I'm very interested in you. I thought I had a chance to take things further with you. I was presumptuous."

After he left, Lu Shangyan didn't even look at the business card before casually throwing it into the trash can. He never wanted to have anything to do with that kind of person again.

But after exiting the elevator, the man's gentle demeanor vanished, replaced by a sinister glint in his eyes. He used his backup phone to send a message to someone:

[I've taken a liking to a young, handsome boy, but he's unmoved and has rejected me.]

[I need you to do everything in your power to win him over; I haven't met a boy who's so much my type in a long time.]

The other party replied to him:

[receive. ]

He lit a cigarette and took a deep sniff of the hand that had just held Lu Shangyan's.

Lu Shangyan, who was downstairs preparing to leave work, was completely unaware of these dangers. He changed out of his work clothes, slung his backpack over his shoulder, and walked toward the intersection.

Ever since he treated Pei Yumin to a buffet barbecue last time, Pei Yumin has started working overtime until late at night every day, just in time to pick him up after get off work, and then the two of them go home together.

At first, Lu Shangyan felt that Pei Yumin was a bother, but he got used to it after a few days.

As soon as she got on the bus, she started talking about how she had met a very strange man that day, but that was the end of it.

His main focus was on that piece of clothing: "It's that black jacket with sequins on the collar and hem. You wore it once when we signed the rental contract."

But he definitely wouldn't admit to wearing such an expensive coat now: "Mine is a knock-off. My cousin studies fashion design and likes to make high-quality replicas all the time. Some of them he can't wear, so he gives them to me. It's a niche brand, so usually no one will notice or mock me for wearing a knock-off, so I wear it, which saves me money."

The more guilty you feel, the more you'll say.

However, the clothes were indeed given to him by his cousin, but they weren't counterfeit. His cousin is the designer who charges exorbitant prices and is still popular.

"If you don't believe me, you can go back and see for yourself. My shirt has zippers on the cuffs, not buttons. I'm not a sucker; I'm just an ordinary office worker. Why would I spend my hard-earned money on such luxury items?"

This is because his cousin felt that the buttons didn't suit him when he gave it to him, so he changed them to zippers instead.

Unexpectedly, it became evidence for identifying piracy.

Lu Shangyan recalled for a moment, then nodded in response: "Now that you've been kicked out and your parents aren't helping you, you must be under a lot of pressure."

After all, he had no parents, and the pressure of growing up was immense, especially after he went to university.

He sighed, "When I'm free on Saturday, I'll treat you to barbecue again to thank you for driving me around all this time. We'll have the 99 per person option, with a wider variety of dishes."

His eyes shone brightly even in the dead of night.

Pei Yumin realized that he actually wanted to eat it, and that he was just using this as an excuse to spend the money.

But she still went along with him and praised him: "Wow, Lu is so generous and considerate of me. It's an honor to be your roommate."

He spoke sincerely, and Lu Shangyan, whose face usually didn't show much expression, now had to try hard to suppress the corners of his lips from turning up, though his chin couldn't help but lift slightly.

"Since you've helped me so much, I'll buy you a gift when I get my salary."

Pei Yumin raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but ask, "What gift?"
