Chapter 45

Chapter 45

After running away from home, Pauline became a role model for Jennie's parenting. While Zhuang Zhuohua went back to her room to work, Zhuang Zhuoyuan accompanied Pauline to pack her luggage. When only the two of them remained in the living room, Jennie said to Iris, "That's the right way. Even after marriage, we women should have backbone. If he really treats you badly, if you really argue, you can go back to your parents' home, or even go back to England. But if he's completely wrong, then it's not you who should leave, but him who should be kicked out."

Iris smiled, pursing her lips. "Absolutely right." But her husband is Zhuang Zhuoyuan, the kind of man many women envy. Iris isn't worried about anything like that happening.

Chong Cheuk-wah has been investigating the Jin Hing triad recently. Internal strife within the group has put its top leader, Sun Man-ho, in the spotlight, and many are looking to take advantage of the situation to eliminate him. Kam Kwok-man happens to be a member of Jin Hing, so after Chong Cheuk-yuen reviewed the information, he didn't need to do much processing; he simply walked a few steps, knocked on the door, and handed it to his older sister.

It was like someone delivering a pillow when you're sleepy, but a little late. When Zhuang Zhuohua looked at the photo in the upper right corner, she raised an eyebrow: "I just checked this handsome guy. He's very arrogant and tight-lipped. I can't get any information out of him."

"And what about this one?" Zhuang Zhuoyuan flipped through a few pages and found Yang Shaocong's photo: "This kid is very close to Gan Guowen, and he's the one who caused Pauline and Uncle Chao to quarrel."

Zhuang Zhuohua's lips curled into a smile: "I was just thinking of going to find him too. But now I want to know, why did you suddenly start investigating them?"

Zhuang Zhuoyuan smiled and said, "Iris, Iris suspects that Gan Guowen is using drugs. Of course, it's mainly because he flirted with A-Qiang last time, and Iris doesn't like him."

So, a two-pronged approach might be feasible. According to Pauline, Gan Guowen had been frequently asking Yang Shaocong for money recently. He wasn't seen with any women, yet he was spending a lot of money, so Iris's suspicions weren't entirely unfounded. Ben followed the information she provided, while Zhuang Zhuohua went to the bar alone to question Yang Shaocong. Unfortunately, the latter remained tight-lipped, and Madam Zhuang truly witnessed firsthand how Uncle Chao was determined to protect that kid, just as Pauline had described. She could only offer a word of advice: "Uncle Chao, I know you want to protect him, but it doesn't have to come to the point where even your wife and son are unhappy with you."

Uncle Chao sighed, but he refused to back down.

They had received some information about the drug-related home-demolition operation, but it would be difficult to actually find the person responsible in a short time. Time was running out, so Ben thought for a moment and decided to take a risky gamble: use the existing information to scare Gan Guowen and see if he could get any information out of him.

The outcome was disappointing. Gan Guowen, having given up all hope, was completely unafraid of any threats. Realizing the police had no concrete evidence, he even refused to speak, instead gesticulating wildly with a disdainful expression, feigning madness. The Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) had no choice but to release him.

However, this tea session wasn't a complete waste of time. At least during the interrogation, they discovered that Gan Guowen was desperately short of money. Judging from his appearance, he was clearly addicted to drugs, so he would definitely try every means to get money to buy them. Yang Shao Cong was just a small fry, and now with Uncle Chao keeping a close watch on him, he might not be able to profit from the bar anymore. As for the "business" within the gang, if he could snatch the real money, he wouldn't need to look for small fry. Zhuang Zhuohua leaned against the edge of the table, contemplating the whiteboard, with Ben sitting not far beside her. Suddenly, a thought struck them both, and they exclaimed in unison, "Yang Shao Cong!"

Killing Sun Wenhao would be a huge job, but very few people would be willing to take it on. The seasoned veterans of the gang would prefer to stay out of trouble and wait to reap the benefits. Unless they desperately needed money, only hot-blooded youths would be foolish enough to accept the task. Gan Guowen naturally wouldn't take it, but he could trick Yang Shaocong into doing it. He could even take a cut from the young man's settlement fee, thus covering his financial losses.

Zhuang Zhuohua immediately sent people to keep a close eye on Yang Shaocong. Sure enough, it wasn't long before news came back that Yang Shaocong had joined a faction and was now working under Uncle Xiang in Jinxing.

"Wow!" Iris exclaimed, resting her chin on her hand as she looked through the window at Zhuang Zhuohua, who was working in the side room. Her eyes were full of admiration. "My sister's confident and strategic demeanor is so captivating!"

Zhuang Zhuoyuan quietly counted down the time, waiting to see when she had had enough. When Iris finally turned around, he asked the question he had been wanting to ask: "If my older sister wasn't my older sister, but my older brother, who would you choose as your boyfriend?"

“That’s hard to say,” Iris said, genuinely showing hesitation. “You know, my older sister has such a cool personality, which makes her very attractive to young girls. Plus, she’s beautiful, has a high IQ, and once you get to know her, she’ll have a cute and unexpected side that’s just too irresistible.”

Zhuang Zhuoyuan had to cough twice: "Mrs. Zhuang!"

Iris wasn't bothered by the warning at all: "Even if I marry my older sister, I can still be called Mrs. Zhuang." She was having a good time being cheeky, but the next second she screamed. Zhuang Zhuoyuan pulled her into his arms, his arms tightly wrapped around her, his fingers reaching for her waist. Although he knew he wouldn't actually tickle her at this stage, this feigned action was enough to make Iris itch all over her back. She was really scared, and she begged Zhuang Zhuoyuan's chest for mercy: "Husband, husband, no matter which man appears in front of me, I will always choose you as my husband."

"real?"

"It really is! More real than pearls!"

Iris has always thought her husband is incredibly handsome, no matter what.

Zhuang Zhuoyuan quickly reached a new level of handsomeness.

On the day Gan Guowen was under the influence of drugs, he not only injured Uncle Chao and threw him into a trash can, but also took a group of his men hostage in a restaurant's private room to threaten the police who wanted to arrest him.

Iris happened to be shopping in the same mall when she saw a large group of people suddenly run out of the restaurant from the arcade, and she guessed something had happened. She and her bodyguard chose another exit to leave. By the time the police began evacuating the mall, they had already reached the rooftop of a building opposite the restaurant where the incident occurred. On the rooftop, several people adjusted the position of their binoculars. Derek rummaged through his belongings and pulled out a newly replaced lightweight drone from his backpack. He grinned, revealing his standard eight teeth, and introduced it: "This is our newest filming marvel. It's easy to move, guarantees all footage in HD, the receiver records the screen in real time, and it can also upload to the cloud simultaneously, ensuring users have an excellent experience."

Iris was very satisfied with the new equipment Derek had contributed. More importantly, out of all the bodyguards, only he would go crazy with her. So, strictly speaking, she regarded him more as a friend than a mere employee.

Carefully avoiding police surveillance, the aircraft slowly turned and approached the window, seemingly brushing against the wall. Iris switched to a wide-angle lens and zoomed in, gaining a general view of the restaurant. There were no customers outside; the Flying Tigers occupied the entrance, their guns all pointed inwards, clearly indicating the prisoners were in a private room. Derek peered over; a group of people dressed in black and masked, only their human forms were discernible. He pursed his lips and asked Iris, "Do you recognize your husband?"

“Of course!” Iris nodded vigorously, but after looking around, she couldn’t see her husband anywhere. She looked again, but he still wasn’t there. Her resolve began to waver.

Unfortunately, Derek was oblivious to the danger. He brushed his bangs aside, put his hands on his hips, and deliberately asked again, "Do you really recognize your husband?"

"..."

Iris couldn't hide the murderous glint in her eyes.

"Change the window. Your husband should be at the entrance, directly facing the stained glass window of the VIP room. That's the best shooting position. What do you think?"

Iris ignored him, pretending not to hear his smugness. She snorted softly, manipulating her fingers to reattach the aircraft to the wall: "Next time, tell Daddy to switch to keyboard mode; the lock-on will be more accurate."

Derek didn't want to talk to this rich girl whose every idea required spending money for the time being. He needed to figure out how to handle the situation if Zhuang Zhuoyuan fired a shot and Iris didn't manage to film it.

Even though he's covered up from head to toe, my husband is still so handsome!

"..."

The speechless person was now Derek.

"Hey, it's not easy for them when they're on a mission. I thought the SDU emphasized quick and decisive battles, so they would start fighting right away."

“The suspect is holding hostages.” Derek began to wonder if the young lady’s intelligence had been eaten away by the baby in her belly. But the next moment, he was slapped in the face. Iris immediately turned to him and asked, “How do you know so much?”

Derek, without batting an eye, said, "As bodyguards, we need to be aware of our surroundings at all times. We already figured out the situation in the restaurant after the commotion in the mall."

“Really?” Iris clearly didn’t believe it.

Derek insisted, "Sure!" But his tablet clearly showed the restaurant's surveillance footage.

“Derek, this is unauthorized intrusion!” Iris warned.

Derek didn't care about her: "You're also testing the limits of the law."

"...We stopped together a minute later."

"Don't talk to me like I'm doing something big with you."

Iris decides to isolate herself for one minute.

At the same time, Zhan Hantao gave the order to fire: "Shoot the angel's belly." He was pointing to the pattern on the glass. Standing behind the angel's belly was the main culprit, Gan Guowen.

Just as Iris focused on the screen again, Zhuang Zhuoyuan pulled the trigger. She quickly maneuvered the aircraft to the adjacent window—perfect timing! The glass shattered, and Gan Guowen was shot in the head!

"Ahhh! My husband is so handsome!"

Derek quickly put down his tablet and held the person down: "Don't jump! Don't jump! AK will dock my pay! Hurry! Put the aircraft back!"
