Chapter 148 Meeting Again

Seeing that her mother was talking more and more outrageous, Geng Youran quickly stopped her:

“Mother, she’s just a princess who’s just entered the Prince’s mansion, she has no background whatsoever. Don’t worry, I won’t let this cause any rift with the Prince.”

Mrs. Geng stared at her daughter with a mixture of disbelief and skepticism for a few moments, then sighed.

"If you truly understand, then your mother can't say much more. But daughter, I still have a few words to remind you. A woman, no matter what, should never hurt herself over trivial matters like jealousy. I didn't understand before, working wholeheartedly for your father, only to be disliked for being old and faded. But these past few years, I've come to understand. I've endured all the hardships for the Geng family, and I don't owe him anything. From now on, I want to live my own good life. Now, you are a princess of the royal palace and have given birth to a little prince. Your younger brother is still young, and I still have you as my support. You should do the same; don't put all your heart into men, and take good care of yourself in your daily life."

Geng Youran was taken aback after hearing what her mother said:

"Mother, who told you these things? You didn't say these things before."

Mrs. Geng glared at her daughter:

"What? I, your mother, can at least read some words. Can't I read more books?"

"Okay, of course. Mother, as long as you are happy, that's all that matters. My younger brother is still small, so I should take care of him more."

Don't worry.

The mother and daughter chatted for a while until it was lunchtime. Qianxue even went to the small kitchen to cook a few extra dishes.

"Mother, next time you come to visit your daughter, please think about bringing your little brother along. I, as his older sister, have never met him since he was born."

"Okay, I'll remember that."

Then Geng Youran asked Qianxue to bring another box:

“Mother, this is something I asked the prince to help me find. Inside is an inkstone, a gift for my younger brother. Please give it to him for me.”

Madam Geng held back her tears and smiled as she put it away.

Seeing that it was time, Geng Youran didn't want to be too conspicuous, so she just asked Qianxue and Xiao Anzi to help her put her mother on the carriage.

As he turned to go back into the house, Geng Youran found a letter on the table that had been hidden under a teacup. It was from his younger brother, whom he had never met.

Although still somewhat immature, the characters look beautiful, showing that effort has been put in.

After a day of heartfelt conversation with her mother, Geng Youran suddenly felt much more at ease.
