Making Sachima is actually not complicated; the first step is to prepare the ingredients.
The main ingredients include refined flour (or low-gluten flour), eggs, sugar (rock sugar or white sugar), cream (or lard) and fruit (such as melon seeds, candied fruit, etc., to enhance the taste and color).
Next, start making the dough: beat the eggs, add an appropriate amount of water and flour, mix, and knead into a smooth dough.
After kneading the dough, let it rest: cover the kneaded dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for a while, about half an hour, so that the dough can relax and ferment better.
Half an hour later, sprinkle dry flour on the work surface to prevent sticking, roll the rested dough into a thin sheet, and then cut it into even strips.
After cutting the noodles into thin strips, fry them in batches in hot oil until golden brown. The oil temperature and heat are very important and crucial. After frying, remove the noodles and drain off the excess oil.
Then, in a separate pot, add an appropriate amount of water and sugar (possibly rock sugar or white sugar with honey), and simmer over low heat to make a syrup.
Finally, pour the fried noodles into the prepared sugar syrup and quickly stir to coat each noodle. Then pour the mixture into a prepared mold, sprinkle a layer of sesame seeds on the bottom of the mold, and press them down firmly with your palm or a tool. After the syrup cools and solidifies, unmold and cut into pieces.
While the small kitchen was bustling with activity, the eldest prince, having finished his court duties and received permission, went to Yanxi Palace with gifts prepared by his primary wife.
"Your son greets Mother, may Mother be blessed!"
"Okay, okay. Get up, get up quickly."
Consort Hui smiled and accepted the gift from her son.
"What gifts will you bring when you visit your mother in the palace?"
"This is what the Fujin prepared for you. It's a headband she embroidered herself, saying it's to thank her mother for the nanny and food she provided."
Consort Hui nodded, feeling that she had done the right thing back then, choosing a good wife for her son.
"Although the First Princess Consort is currently in confinement after childbirth, you should not neglect her. It would be good to go and talk to her from time to time."
In fact, as a mother-in-law, whether in ancient or modern times, Consort Hui's conduct was absolutely commendable. Even Geng Youran, whose soul is that of a modern person, praised her highly.
In a feudal society, it was truly rare for someone to stand in the shoes of a daughter-in-law, not to try to force their son to marry someone else, and even to proactively suggest that their son take care of his wife's feelings.
Consort Hui chatted with her son for a while, and the eldest prince casually mentioned that he was hungry. She immediately ordered that all the prepared food be brought out.
When Yinzhi saw the food laid out on the table, he felt both heartwarming and amused.
"Mother, how can your son eat so much?"
"You can take it back if you can't finish it. These were all specially made for you by your mother instructing the small kitchen. Try them."
Yinzhi picked up a piece of chestnut cake, tasted it, and thought it tasted good.
"Mother, this chestnut cake tastes a little different than before. Who made it?"
Consort Hui immediately summoned Qingzhi.
"Qingzhi, the eldest prince said this chestnut cake tastes different. Who made it today?"
"Your Majesty, Your Highness, the chestnut cake today was made by Lü Yao."
Yinzhi ate another piece.
"It's quite good. Mother, please reward it for your son."
Consort Hui looked at her son with doting eyes, and then said,
"I'll reward you."
"yes."
Qingzhi returned to the small kitchen, gave the reward money to Lüyao, and said expressionlessly:
"This is a gift from the Empress and the Prince to you."
Upon hearing that it was a gift from the First Prince, Lü Yao disregarded Qing Zhi and Geng Youran's feelings and rushed into the courtyard, loudly proclaiming:
"This servant, Lüyao, kowtows to thank Your Highness and Prince for their generous gifts."
Consort Hui was somewhat displeased, feeling that Lü Yao was being disrespectful, but the First Prince was intrigued.
"Xiao Anzi, call in the girl who's thanking the emperor at the door."
Consort Hui didn't stop her; she wanted to see which girl was so bold as to seduce the prince right in front of her.
When Lü Yao heard from the eunuch that the prince wanted her to go in, she was overjoyed and quickly got up and went into the room.
"This servant, Lüyao, greets Consort Hui, wishing her ten thousand years of happiness and peace. I also greet the prince, wishing him good fortune."
"Get up, you're a sensible person. Just now, the eldest prince praised your cooking skills, saying that the chestnut cake you made was delicious."
Lü Yao stood up, lowered her head, and said:
"This servant wouldn't dare. It is my blessing if both of you enjoy your meal."
At this moment, Yinzhi suddenly spoke.
"Raise your head."
Green Jade shyly raised her head, then immediately lowered it again.
"He's quite handsome. Mother, why don't you give him to your son?"
Consort Hui initially wanted to refuse, but after calming down and thinking it over, she realized that if she stayed in Yanxi Palace, she might not know what might happen in the future, so she agreed to her son's request.
“Since you like her, then your mother will ask your father and mother for a favor and grant her to you as a princess.”
"Your son thanks Mother."
"This servant thanks Your Highness."
Not only Lüyao, but everyone serving her never expected that simply making a pastry would make her a princess in the prince's mansion.
Afterwards, the eldest prince left Yanxi Palace first due to official business.
That afternoon, Lüyao rode in a sedan chair from the Imperial Household Department, carrying her own bundle, and entered the First Prince's residence as a princess.
At the same time, Consort Hui summoned three senior palace maids to her side and asked them what had happened.
"Qingzhi, how did you raise your children? How can you so blatantly seduce a prince? Have you no manners at all!"
Qingzhi immediately knelt down.
"Your Majesty, please forgive us. Your servant and You Ran did try to stop her, but she insisted on going to express her gratitude."
